Zoning logic

As said earlier the game is constantly loading little phased areas.

random loading screens were added months ago to clean up people that didn't do this loading right and fell through the world (through a partially loaded world).

I love it when people say stuff like "would it be so hard to..."... yes it would. That's why they didn't. For whatever reasons they tried to create hard loads between major zones and streaming loading internally... flushing out textures probably. Most zones have their own environment/buildings.

WoW is not a good example. It was low polygon even when it came out... not even close to the massive amounts of graphical data is streaming all the time. Sometime older is easier.

That being said. Like the OP says, there are some wacky spots.

This thread isn't about loading screens @traigusb14_ESO2

I even responded to someone else who mentioned Loading Screens by saying

    This post illustrates my issue.

It's the fact that we don't Zone IN where we Zone OUT we always zone in at the exact same spot. Places where the zone boarders are walls with doors or a mountain pass it's not so noticeable but sometimes it is jarring.

Morrowind AND Oblivion had you freezing in the middle of MANY area's while it loaded the area. if there was trouble doing it then, OBVIOUSLY, a game that is MUCH bigger, has a TON of players, and is better graphically is also going to need to load every so often.

This isn't about loading... I'll quote the post directly above yours.

I agree it is wacky and something should be done... but it is about zoning and map design.

It is also about load screens (and loading). Though I was talking a bit to the other person (sorry).

They decided to lock it down as a design choice. You are much more likely to see the weird load out spot removed (or invisible walled) than it get a more appropriate load in spot. Which would probably be fine, because it is the weirdness that seems to be bothering you. It bothers me.

I've run into 3-4 of them just like that one... most of them seem to be near water like that ( I think the flatness of beaches creates the problem... no rock walls and no slaughterfish.. oops crossed an invisible line POOF! safepoint..

I'll bet money they are bugs in world the way that they shouldn't Teleport you anywhere, but you get brought to a safe spot (though why not the zone IN on the map you are on is a bit puzzling...but we sometimes get ported to wayshrines we never have seen or are not even that close when we die).

There was a bug in Beta where all house doors in 1 town would put you inside the food store. You could not get into any other building... all doors lead to the food place... funny as hell. like 40+ people in the food store where nobody wanted to be.

So any number of Point A can lead to point B. In your example there is A and B the the normal zone line, and your point C goes to B for some reason in the next zone. I suspect there is not point D nearby across the water it can go to instead. In most places your spot would be a wall (rock or invisible),or slaughterfish...

TLDR: I suspect it is not supposed to be a zone line at all. Expect an invisible wall eventually.

I fully expect that if any action is taken, it's the invisible wall route. Despite the fact that many of ESO players (me included) have railed about those ridiculous things.

If this ever gets addressed it'll be like 6 or 7 years from now. It's just a shame to see these kinds of shortcuts taken when designing the game.

Honestly. "floaty trees" bother me more. ESO has all sorts of levitating trees.

I suggested once or twice about introducing zoning concept in Cyrodiil for various reasons...i think it's good to zone things ... zoning in pvp is maybe problematic at borders of two zones.. what happens if one player "escapes" in the other zone during combat? nothing could be the answer...borders could have a "neutral" belt where you get unflagged... whatever... there are always good solutions, imo

i don't think it will happen.. they probably will just introduce a brand new pvp-zone instead..

    Cyrodiil > zergs
    Imperial city > ganks
    ??? zone > small scale

Not many people think this way @Xandryah. I too feel that there is always a solution.

Were you the one to suggest separating Cyrodiil into smaller areas with Stockades? I really liked that idea. Cyrodiil doesn't have to be as HUGE as it is. It's impressive on paper as a concept but ZOS really needs to accept that it just didn't work in practice.
