• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

please introduce gearable companions with quests to get them (like in swtor) ...

every class should have a few (say... 5) companions with related quests to get them, (if you want them)

those companions would replace the hirelings and be able to fight and would speed up some things

This would further discourage people grouping. I don't think it's right for a game like ESO.

I'd wait for them to actually get the current pet AI working before asking for more.

Actually, thinking about this...If they ever did add player owned housing, I'd be in favour of having companions in your home that act as hirelings. You could send them all off to look for woodworking if you wanted. Or split them up (like the current system).

Knights of the Old Republic has always been a "party" game. As such in SWTOR it makes sense to have your companion.

The Elder Scrolls have always been a series of "solo adventurer" games. So... why would we now get a companion?
Way I see it, it'd be breaking with the series spirit, unneeded, and just doubling the lag... instead, roll a sorceror if you like to have "friends" along, maybe? ;)

I agree with the sentiment that lag, discouragement of player grouping, and breaking the spirit of the ESO games are good reason not to have an entourage of hireable companions that fight. The concept is that a group of heroes (players) may band together for tougher challenges, but that for big events you are the star. Adding in the issues with pet AI and the fact that even when the game does give you a group of tag-along companions to fight alongside you they are mostly useless (see "Main Story"), it's just not something I want to see.

I don't think we should be able to equip them. I have a pretty thorough concept here: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/146133/hirable-npc-companion-concept
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

Not exactly sure how I want it to work but, I agree about companions. However, it needs to be done in a few years after they get other things done and figured out.

The best part about SWTOR is their companions and the way you can interact with them.

A place where everything and nothing exists, this is my playground.

Not always. I had many different followers in Skyrim that fought right along side of me. Heck, I even had an invincible dog...well, until I got tired of him knocking me off cliffs, lol.
