Character Transfers and ZOS's terms which they seem like they are breaking

I'm sure some time after release they will but something up in crown store for a transfer to console. It will make them money which is a good thing.

To debate from this angle is irrelevant, they will be covered by the old "subject to change" weasel clause (which in the end, only hurts the consumer).

I really don't want to debate this anymore, I would simply like a solution. How about we just charge the late comers $40-$50 bucks for the transfer and call it good? We get what we want and they get what they want. Is this that difficult? To do anything else is moronic. Why lose customers over a deadline that shouldn't have been there in the first place? Why turn down more money? A lot of other games do transfers so don't tell me it cant be done (Neverwinter), don't tell me its too difficult to implement or that the console makers don't want to cooperate (because that is their goal, to have less gamer's playing less games).

Frankly I don't care when you bought the pc version (before 6/30/15 or not), if you pay for the transfer you should be good.

    The solution was already provided...
per their article the offer will not be offered again

I think the op has a pint.

    The pertinent point here is:
Via a special offer, anyone who purchases and activates the PC/Mac version of The Elder Scrolls Online by 6/30/14 (11:59pm UTC) will have the opportunity to transfer their character(s) to either console version when they are released.

Now I concede that they make it clear it is an opportunity, not a guaranteed service.

However they are quite specific that this opportunity will be offered when they are released.

If the OP is an EU citizen I'd recommend they contact their respective consumer rights body.

I don't see any valid points?

the entire post is below.... (I posted this on page 1)
As of 5-2014 this is what you were "offered" and note nothing was "promised"

    http://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/2014/05/08/eso-on-consoles--update

Read our update regarding ESO’s availability on next-gen consoles.

We know from the frequent questions we get that many of you are excited about playing ESO on the PS4 and Xbox One, and today we’d like to share an official update on the status of these releases. Read on for the latest information:

We've been grateful to our fans for the wonderful response to our recent launch of The Elder Scrolls Online for PC/Mac, but we know many of you are eagerly waiting to play the game on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

We continue to work on the console versions of ESO, and game development has been progressing steadily, but we are still working to solve a series of unique problems specific to those platforms. Integrating our systems with each console manufacturer’s networks—which are both different from the PC/Mac system as well as different from each other—has been a challenging process. It has become clear that our planned June release of the console versions isn’t going to be possible. Though we have made great progress, we have concluded that we’ll need about six months to ensure we deliver the experience our fans expect and deserve.

We know that the news of an ESO console delay is as disappointing to many of you as it is to us. We want to do what we can to make it up to our fans who want to start playing now, so we have worked out the following arrangement with Sony and Microsoft:

Via a special offer, anyone who purchases and activates the PC/Mac version of The Elder Scrolls Online by 6/30/14 (11:59pm UTC) will have the opportunity to transfer their character(s) to either console version when they are released. The offer will allow you to begin playing immediately on the PC/Mac, and then add the PS4 or Xbox One version and transfer the character(s) you have created and developed. And, you don’t have to pay full price for the game twice. For $20, eligible PC and Mac players will have the option to add a full, digital version of ESO on either the PS4 or the Xbox One with your character transfer(s), and another 30 days of included game time.

Whether you decide to take advantage of this offer or not, we promise to do everything we can to get the game released on both consoles as quickly as we can. We will keep everyone updated with additional details regarding character transfers, specific offer dates, when you can expect console beta to start, and of course, when ESO on consoles will launch.

Thank you for your patience and loyal support.

So that was in 2014 and then on April 9 2015 everyone got another email

But they were given the opportunity to get it. One big problem like phone support told the one guy he opt out of getting the email from them with updates. So it was clearly his fault not ZoS. Just wait till console goes live am sure they will be able to transfer for like 40 or 50 dollars. Other than that snooze you lose.

Another thing I don't really under stand is they knew they would make the offer, they stated they would be doing it, yet they opted out of email then never bothered to either play the game to read it on launcher or go to ESO web site or the forums. That makes it the users fault not ZoS.

I would like to know why I'm unable to transfer. It felt like such a small window to get the discount and I've been playing since the game first came out. Even if i have to pay full price for an xboxone digital copy, I would still like to transfer my account. I just don't understand the magical process that is disallowing me to have such a simple thing. I just find it off putting that i'll have to start over. I was so excited when I stumbled upon this days ago just to find out i was too late. During the discount I was trying to finish my degree and missed the email. 30 days is a small window, I don't care what anybody says about that. So I've spent days with customer service trying to find a way to get an account transfer. Caspur you should be upset, this is nonsense

Perhaps they did it in a limited-offer fashion to reduce the amount of character copies that will wreck PVP/economy? You know, stagger it out to be offered at a later date once the servers are built up a bit more.

I'm just going to put this out there.
MOST offers that you see on Xbox and PlayStation are 1 week, 1 weekend or 30 days, pre-order only, digital only using XYZ store or website, etc.

Just to put things into perspective....the question isn't why is ZOS limiting the offer.
The question may be....Is ZOS limited by Xbox and PS on this offer.

The ONLY clause of importance here is the one that sets a timeframe.

No one is arguing about it being a special offer.

The debate is about WHEN that offer was advertised to happen: "when they are released".

The information doesn't say "there will be a special offer prior to release that will take effect upon release"; if it said that ESO would in the clear.

It quite specifically states "Via a special offer, anyone who purchases and activates the PC/Mac version of The Elder Scrolls Online by 6/30/14 (11:59pm UTC) will have the opportunity to transfer their character(s) to either console version when they are released.[/quote]

not sure who you're directing this to. Many comments in this thread on page 1 already have highlighted and provided very clear information from ZOS to the consumer of why the OP does not have any valid points.

Read over the text you removed from my comments as well as its helpful to see the OP error. Partial reading concludes the consumer's error and the OP's error.

That was old literature. The 2015 email/version was:

You are eligible for The Elder Scrolls® Online: Tamriel Unlimited™ for Console with account copy. You will find it on sale for pre-purchase for $20.00 at account.elderscrollsonline.com/store when logged in using your eligible The Elder Scrolls Online account on April 9, 2015.

This special offer to pre-purchase a digital copy of an Xbox One and/or PlayStation 4 version of the game, will only be available on the store for 30 (thirty) days. After the 30-day period, you will no longer be able to purchase this special digital copy of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited for console or copy your PC/Mac account to console in any other way.

That invalidates what you're trying to pull, lol.

"when they are released" does not refer back to the "special offer" or to the "opportunity" but to the part that immediately precedes it which is "to transfer their character(s) to either console version". The "they" is in reference to the console version, not the characters or the opportunity. Therefore, your "ONLY clause of importance" applies only to those that partook of the "opportunity".

As I stated elsewhere, the key word is "opportunity". The special offer applies to everyone in before 6/30/14, the timeframe addresses the transfer of the characters, but nowhere does it state that characters for everyone who purchased by 6/30/14 will be transferred. Quite the opposite, everyone in by 6/30/14 will simply be offered the "opportunity". Which they were.

Read the sentence again: what does "anyone..." get? They get an "opportunity" not a "when they are released".

It matters when the argument is in essence that the offer was changed. However, the offer wasn't changed, later statements only provided the details. The original offer was for an "opportunity", the later statements did not invalidate the original, and they didn't need to.

BigM, It had nothing to do with memory. I completely missed the transfer discount and apparently any transfer that will occur. Which the whole thing about a limited transfer is maddening. I understand a one-time transfer, BF4 did this from the 360 to the xbone. But to make it a month before the launch, w/o including the launch date as part of the month is asinine.

The portion of the text you highlighted specifies that the transfer will be performed when they are released.

The portion of the text regarding the dates of the opportunity to transfer is later in the same article where it was stated:
Whether you decide to take advantage of this offer or not, we promise to do everything we can to get the game released on both consoles as quickly as we can. We will keep everyone updated with additional details regarding character transfers, specific offer dates, when you can expect console beta to start, and of course, when ESO on consoles will launch.

ZOS announced ahead of time that they would contact people with promotional information regarding the specific dates that the offer would take place.
Some players, unfortunately, decided not to opt in to receive this information, and as a result did not get an e-mail regarding the specific dates -- consequently, this lead some people to miss the announcement of when the special dates were.

It was an honest mistake some players made when signing up for the game, hopefully they can be mature enough to learn from it.

First off it takes time for them to make the application to where they can transfer accounts without any issues. They could not have known back then how long it would take them and longer still to make sure it worked without any problems.

I just hope you and the others have learned an important lesson and make sure the next game you setup email the right way and keep your eye on it for any updates and deals.

Just wrong in so many ways to blame ZoS they did everything right and you just can't say they were at fault.

I'd be fine with just playing on the PC but none of my friends ever play PC games. I also really don't want to go through waiting for a new moon to become a werewolf! They waved a metaphorical cookie in my face then gave it to some of the players. They gave me this account because they didn't want to listen to me anymore lol.

I am devastated I'm never now able to transfer my pc to console mainly for my collections which is all of em loyalty included i play regularly and never received an email or saw it elsewhere, maybe its my bad but not everyone follows twitter and facebook.

But there is nothing we can do but accept it now, I have tried to email and plead with them but they don't seem to care.

They're many of us who agree. All we can do is hope that they allow us to transfer asap.

    Man,

    This debate is heated.

What all this boils down to is a bunch of people are upset because they missed this "opportunity" that was offered and this needs to be addressed.

All that is being said right now is "you snooze you lose." And those of us who "snoozed," are feeling like "Losers."

    Thats how I feel...

We, the players, are the supporters of the game. Without us, they are nothing. I think the developers need to step it up and actually do something about this. What can be done? Offer another opportunity? They say no. Well what else? Will they offer the sale of the console game at a discount price? Will they give us free crown points for the PC game? Will they give us free skill points or EXP in the game? Will they give us a boost of a level 30 character in our choice of console? IDK.

As of now, I am certainly thinking of to cancelling my eso plus subscription to show how I dont support the developers. Until they do something about it, they have lost my support.

Thing is ZOS don't seem to care about the PC players, never have really. So why do you think they are going to help us now when 'we'are the ones that missed out.

It was an offer, some took advantage of it, others missed the boat. /shrugs

It looks like (from the forums at least) not many people actually did take advantage of the transfer to console, which is good in some sense because there is going to be major QQíng from console users. Can you imagine the first time a level 10 console player comes to cyrodiil and meets a player that has had over 12mths experience behind them, dropped and crafted gear plus 100+ CP?

    The QQíng will be real.

P.S. Can I just say, I'm married, with kids, a full time job, and many, many other interests outside ESO and yet I still managed to set aside some time to make sure I didn't miss out on the transfer. Life being busy isn't an excuse I can use with my boss, my wife or anyone really.

The me generation needs to look at themselves.
Been here since Feb 2014 - You'd think I'd be half reasonable at this game by now...

It won't be much QQing those of us who did take advantage of the offer won't get codes until sometime on June 8th which means for many, they won't be playing until later. 60+ gigs takes some ppl a long time and others are metered so no idea why ZOS is stating console limitations now as this offer is over 12 months old.
