Why was there a deadline for transferring anyway? THis should be a thing all the time. Other games allow you to transfer between servers at the drop of a hat.
Because, this also included a digital copy of the console version of the game for $20. If this was just about the transfer, things might have been different.

Like I mentioned in the post, it is one thing if the money offer was limited time. But why limit the time for transfer of characters as well. I am at this point fine with paying another $60 for the game. I think the studio did very well with the game and how far it has come at this point. But not having the ability to transfer my characters and items is upsetting because everything on PC now seems to be a waste. The point of transferring to console was to have more people to play with.
And here is the real story translation :
"I have understood that it will be my ar*e that will be served together with the rest of the newbies at console launch and now I am scared, so scared... "
You cant fool me into believing that someone would write a new bible because he/she missed a chance to "show off" the pc character for family and friends.....

What makes other people more special then me since I have been waiting for this game on console since oblivion? I work as well but Google is the future on finding answers to pc copy to console. I was harressed last year during beta when I walked into to my game store about pc to console transfer. I sucked up the pc miserable keyboard for over a year. I understand people were not organized and expect symphony to be able to transfer even though they did not follow the rules like I did. I hope you can still transfer but if not I can't feel sorry forcyou. Sorry but you should have wasted 30 seconds of your life to look what had to happen to be able to transfer. Should the over a year delay ring a bell? I just don't understand sorry.

why only 30 days?
Why wasn't everyone sent emails?

Since none of us expected it to be open for only limited time, with other things going on in our lives, we thought there was no reason to check up on it. With the original way they explained it. It seem as if there was no reason to follow it until it was released.

According to the email posted to the thread, that was the agreement with Sony and MS.Why wasn't everyone sent emails?
Supposedly this is due to not checking promotions and deal in the email preferences in account settings. That was my understand of the OP.
How else would they know who to send to apart from being qualified (based on account history) and having the proper account settings. They aren't going to spam people who indicated they don't want email updates.
While I understand the disappointment of some, I personally stay on top of these things if they are significant to me. If I miss the deadline, I deal with it. If circumstances hinder me from doing what I would have like to have done, that is life.
Regarding those who like to say they should just allow this on demand, how? There is no indication that they developed any such system. Doing a one-off mass migration of accounts to a system that is not yet in production and is not yet populated with data is a completely different beast than the automated copying of records between separate live systems on demand. Especially when the 3 ESO backends likely won't be connected to one another to allow direct copying of data. I can't imagine that XBox Live would allow it.

im sure the deadline has a reason.. maybe they have to prep the data... and that the fact that it will be a limited time frame has also been announced...
ok you had somthin else going on... but I cant blame companies for my own problems
and theres always the chance they will offer this service again at a later time...
I agree as I am in the same boat I also only found out today that I won't be able to transfer my collections etc to console.
I never received an email which is odd because I get lots of emails from them and check and keep them all so it was obviously a mistake on there part.
I don't follow twitter or Facebook I would have thought the dashboard and clearly posted on forums would have been better.
I'm more mortified for all my loyalty rewards that I will now never be able to get on console aswell as all the money I have spent on the crown store which is basically everything.
My account has been linked to the xbox one since the beta and it asked if I wanted to tranfer my details when I started the beta I remember it clearly and so all this time I figured I was covered until today.
Very upsetting this has been I keep track of eso news regularly and cant believe I never saw this deadline.
: (
Didn't ZOS email everyone about this? I though I received and email. but I could be wrong. My mind is old and feeble.
I didn't play long on the PC (didn't like keyboard mouse control) and never seen or heard of an offer allowing me to purchase the game for console for a discounted price.
I really don't care about the character transfer from PC to Console but would have liked saving a few $$ and not have to paid full retail for the game for 2 systems.
I am in same boat as you Obsicarius. I received no emails and i don't have social media and i don't consume myself in news feeds. And i have the bad taste after posting my concerns here.
The balance scale is completely lop sided. On the right, there are dozens of valid reasons why this deadline is absurd. On the left, it's the same single comment of oh well, you missed it.
Unfortunately this isn't the place to express your discontent. Just as you, i posted my disbelief of how ZoS is treating this matter. People here just view our feelings as a "tantrum". Meanwhile if half these people got a bad steak at a nice restaurant, they would boycott the restaurant and tell their friends to do the same... but that's different.
I don't care about the financial aspect of this deadline, which i also believe shouldn't have been to begin with. I just want my account available for transfer.
Obsicarius wrote: »NewBlacksmurf wrote: »Obsicarius wrote: »I even received the email about the console and I don't even own a console. Maybe when you guys signed up you unchecked the box to receive updates on game. Unfortunately if that is the case that is clearly your fault.
You said:
"My intent is to buy a game and play it to have fun, I am not going to follow every last bit of it throughout my entire life.* < My dad use to have a great saying for that. "If you snooze you lose."
They shouldn't make promises they cannot keep, or at least be fair enough to explain all the limitations before having someone buy the game and waste their time on it. They fished money out of my pocket in this situation just like they did others. Whether you agree or not does not matter here. You are being ignorant to say that everyone was capable of seeing the news at the time, especially since it was a limited time offer. They have plenty of room to give incentive to old players here. All I am asking for is a character transfer like they promised. And your dad is right with the saying. But its not snoozing when you have other things going on in your life. Just bigger responsibility.
I'm jumping in cause I shared this in another very similar thread that is now locked due to personal info
As of 5-2014 this is what you were "offered" and note nothing was "promised"
http://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/2014/05/08/eso-on-consoles--update
Read our update regarding ESO’s availability on next-gen consoles.
We know from the frequent questions we get that many of you are excited about playing ESO on the PS4 and Xbox One, and today we’d like to share an official update on the status of these releases. Read on for the latest information:
We've been grateful to our fans for the wonderful response to our recent launch of The Elder Scrolls Online for PC/Mac, but we know many of you are eagerly waiting to play the game on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
We continue to work on the console versions of ESO, and game development has been progressing steadily, but we are still working to solve a series of unique problems specific to those platforms. Integrating our systems with each console manufacturer’s networks—which are both different from the PC/Mac system as well as different from each other—has been a challenging process. It has become clear that our planned June release of the console versions isn’t going to be possible. Though we have made great progress, we have concluded that we’ll need about six months to ensure we deliver the experience our fans expect and deserve.
We know that the news of an ESO console delay is as disappointing to many of you as it is to us. We want to do what we can to make it up to our fans who want to start playing now, so we have worked out the following arrangement with Sony and Microsoft:
Via a special offer, anyone who purchases and activates the PC/Mac version of The Elder Scrolls Online by 6/30/14 (11:59pm UTC) will have the opportunity to transfer their character(s) to either console version when they are released. The offer will allow you to begin playing immediately on the PC/Mac, and then add the PS4 or Xbox One version and transfer the character(s) you have created and developed. And, you don’t have to pay full price for the game twice. For $20, eligible PC and Mac players will have the option to add a full, digital version of ESO on either the PS4 or the Xbox One with your character transfer(s), and another 30 days of included game time.
Whether you decide to take advantage of this offer or not, we promise to do everything we can to get the game released on both consoles as quickly as we can. We will keep everyone updated with additional details regarding character transfers, specific offer dates, when you can expect console beta to start, and of course, when ESO on consoles will launch.
Thank you for your patience and loyal support.

I'm sorry but anyone who missed out, did so and is their own responsibility as the info was out there officially and via 5 or 6 other social media and another 4-5 gaming sites
Like I told you, I had my reasons like others did to not see the promotion. All together whether you want to classify it as a promise or not, This is massive slap to the face to their veteran customers. They weaseled out of it to their veteran members and now gave me no reason to come back to their game. Yes, they didn't guarantee anything and they don't have to do anything about this. But I like many others obviously feel betrayed by this company. I am the voice of many that are upset.
Obsicarius wrote: »This is what I mean. I come on here for a discussion and only one person has provided it thus far. Every other comment is youre're SOL or shut up and deal with it. On top of that it is the same exact people that have commented on every post about this. No help at all here. Its not about getting what I want. But even if ZoS released a statement to speak about all the people in uproar about this. There is no response here from anyone that can actually do anything about this. And not a single true hard fact as to why they did it this way. So on that. No other comment here is relevant to the issue at hand. And I like everyone else atleast would like to know why.
You made a well thought out post, you took your time to come here and try and either get information, get support or maybe just vent what you see as a wrong. I appreciate that. Your post and followups was interesting and provocative.
Unfortunately there are a majority of folks here that don't read the posts, skim or just exercise their right to ship all over some one else's troubles...I'm not one of those, even if I disagree. And I don't disagree with you.
The bottom line is (whether you were informed of the narrow window of redemption of offer or not. Or put yourself in a position to receive that offer by being on every social app there is) it is a tiny window of opportunity to redeem the offer you are otherwise qualified for. It is an arbitrary time frame. It could have been 15 days or 32 days. They picked 30. I think that sucks big time. Either more time (I dunno 60 days? 90?) or the option to pay more dollars to transfer that character (crown points) in the future would make sense to me. Then I am someone that enjoys the game and wants everyone to be able to play. You know, I'm an enabler. Kind of like what ZOS should be doing. Making it easy to play.
After all ZOS got people that were waiting for console to pay for and play the game this past year to get off their back about a broken promise of being ready JUNE 2014. These people made & played characters for a year. The loyalty alone of playing and paying for a year should resonate with anyone with a reasonable view of "fair-play".
A 30 day window and the expectation that you receive emails of every plushie and Fallout4 bobblehead promotion is not reasonable fair play.
Good luck to you playing something else. Most of my friends and guildmates have left too.
Obsicarius wrote: »

it is likely NOT arbitrary, it could have something to do with how the servers are set up, or even something that MS or Sony made them do.
it would not matter what they say, because people with your attitude would STILL be angry. The fact they did the transfer AT ALL is something most MMOs had never done.
The highlighted portion is my major point to anyone. The complaints....or lack of responsibility of others who then blame the company is concerning.

Seems that under their legal agreement with you, they are not allowed to send you such updates unless you have consented to it.
In answer to your questions:
Yes, your decision to not receive further information about the promotion is really why you missed out on the opportunity to transfer.
They can make it so limited that not checking a box excludes you from receiving contact about it because they entered a legal agreement with you that they would not contact you unless you consented, out of respect for your privacy.

I guess email, the launcher, the official website, forums, various gaming news platforms and social media sites weren't enough to reach these luddites.
Don't worry though, next time Matt Firor will personally send a carrier pidgeon and a singing telegram to get the word out.
