This is one of the reasons why I don't like it when games go free to play, I would rather get charged a monthly fee and not get nickel and dimed or in some cases hacked and gouged lol

$12-$15 a month really isn't bad if it means having good game devs and new content.
If you stayed home 1 night a month playing ESO instead of going to the bar, movies etc you made your money back lol

$25 for a new mount is the de facto standard set by Blizzard. $10 for a pet and $25 for a mount.
A month of WoW is $15 (same as ESO+).
If you're coming from WoW to ESO+, then that price isn't such a shock.
And as I've send in numerous posts, you don't HAVE to have extra mounts.
Only buy it if it makes you enjoy your gaming experience a little bit more and you can afford it.

It's clearly a First World problem and not worth the 50+ pages of posts this is blowing up to be.

I'd like to agree that it seems ridiculous for a mount to cost more than the monthly subscription. I reeeeeeally want the nightmare courser because it would be so perfect for one of my characters, but there's just no way an accessory for the game is really worth that. I realize this all depends on how rich you are in the first place, to some people $25 might be like $5 to someone else, but personally even if I can afford it, I know I'd still feel resentful about it if I did finally go ahead and buy it. And that's the point, over time feeling like it's a bit of a rip-off even if you go ahead and do it leaves a bad taste in customers' mouths so to speak.

Honestly If they were cheaper I'd be a lot more likely to eventually over time spend a lot more money in total buying a bunch of pets and mounts, but when buying one thing feels like it's more than it's really worth I'm not going to feel as inclined to buy multiple things. Buying a bunch of cheap things can add up when it's not a cost that you're stopping to think about in the first place, but when you are stopping to debate on how worth it this is.... or saving up for something, it's not going to happen as often, and people will be more likely to hold out for something they may want even more, or Only buy the One thing they like most.

When I calculated the cost of getting the two mounts and pet that I wanted and saw that it was about the same as we payed for the whole game, I was like, um..... no, this is totally out of proportion.

I'd say wasting good money, no matter the amount, is certainly a Problem in the First World.

I agree. I'm not a fan of wasting money.
However my wife and I both work, all of our bills are paid, and ESO is my only form of entertainment.
I don't buy alcohol, tobacco, rarely go to a cinema. We have a nice selection of televison shows and movies available to us through our telephone provider.
I'm also a collector - I have everything from the crown store with the exception of the wedding dress and one of the Guar mounts.
I just put another 3000 crowns into my account this morning (it's payday) and I'll get those 2 items tonight.
I'll let the rest bank up for either new items or the new DLC when it comes out.
My 3-month sub renews in about 2 weeks, and I'll just continue to let the crowns stack up.

Actually Subs are cheaper than Movies, last longer and usually Evolve. Not Wasting Money is more about not wasting money. I don't buy cheap scotch then binge for an hour, i buy good scotch and have a tipple when i feel like it.

aka "slow horses and fast women"

Given the recent Credit fiasco I am in no way ashamed of looking after my pennies.

Also, Flea Circus' were usually automaton ... they were all usually an illusion, in case you thought i was attacking you :P

I'm speaking more of the tools required to play videogames (a decent gaming rig) and of the time it consumes that could be much better used to doing other tasks which are of more importance.

A person who is willing to spend the money to have a decent gaming rig and buy videogames and spend the time on those games really shouldn't have a problem with a $25 mount under the guise of "It's wasteful".

If that person wants to claim that they do not see value in the item, that's fine, but it's no more wasteful than any other part of this past time.

And no attack perceived... I'm just joining in the conversation.

And FYI, I also think a $25 mount is too much to pay for a mount. I'd rather use that $25 and go hog wild during a Steam or GoG sale. hehe.

    shh dont tell anyone:
i was happy on my 660m laptop!
last year a relative got cancer and decided to upgrade my laptop >.<
the biggest pity was that they spent so much on an Alienware =/.... I could've had an SLI 980 rig for the price they paid for a 19inch Alienware Lappy... but well.. it does work really well.. and it has flashing lights!!!!

Whether or not its just revisionist rose coloured goggles, i tend to remember CoH as having the best cash store of any game i've ever played, fair priced and always something else to spend cash on.

Hehehe. No, no heads or statues yet. I have dropped serious, strong hints that I want a statue for Christmas, tho.
(wonder if the photo of the statue placed under her dinner plate was too much? hehe
The Breton statue looks amazing, but I have a feeling those images were rendered from the 3D model.
The tiny detail was just too fine. I can only hope the statue is nearly as good.
