Disappointment in ZoS - Console Transfer

Obsicarius
ZoS - You may have just lost a massive ESO fan, ZoS customer.

It has come to my attention today that I missed the console transfer promotion and just like plenty of other people. Now, I have been a hard charging fan of this game since its multiple betas and have been a member since it original release. I am extremely upset to find out that I have missed the upgrade promotion that has lasted 30 days only. I was extremely excited to hear that I would be able to transfer my character and everything else to console upon release and have been supporting ZoS in the direction they have been going since the start. What really upsets me is that this was not advertised back then as being a limited time only offer. The only circumstance was that you buy the game for PC and activate it before June 30th, and I made that deadline. So I strongly believe I have every right to transfer my character and to the offer that went out on April 9th, 2015. But now, there are multiple things that I see as terrible with this offer.

- I understand the degree that this was advertised during the time being, But what about the individuals that don't have access to those places regularly or don't care to use those sites? I admit that I use Twitter, Facebook, and email etc... but not for the purpose of gaming. My intent is to buy a game and play it to have fun, I am not going to follow every last bit of it throughout my entire life. Maybe follow a game towards its release but that's it, I like everyone else will play a game quit for a little and go back throughout the games life, especially in the case of a MMO. So there is easy room to miss such an offer especially in my and other peoples circumstances. Myself and others are up to very busy lives whether it be in the military or working none stop and the last thing we want to think is that an offer to a veteran member of the game is missed because they hit an especially busy point in their life. This is extremely frustrating and disappointing especially when you're very excited to see the games transfer to console from how far its come. I've talked this game up since the beginning to friends and family and have been delighted to play with them and show off my character, only to learn just recently that I cannot do that.

- It has also come to my attention that this was sent by an email notification so the first thing I did was check my email all the way back to April 9th, 2015. When I noticed I did not have an email regarding this, I sent in a ticket and had customer support contact me by phone. Upon talking she had explained that I did not have promotions and deals checked on my account but did have news email notifications. Now I began to question, did I really miss this promotion that was promised to me a year ago because I did not have that box checked upon purchasing the game? How can you promise veteran members such an awesome offer a year ago, and then make it that limited that since they do not have that box checked they miss out? I just like many other people, have more important things to do with my life than to follow every single deal made by video game company in email. I am not going to let video game offers flood my email when there are more important matters at hand.

- Upon further talking to customer support on the phone I began to relax and think, okay, Ill just buy the game for the normal $60 and still have my characters and everything else. Upon asking that question thinking It would be a no brain er, She explains to me that characters were only eligible for transfer with the offer. This is what really threw me over board and caused me to sit down and take time out of my life to post on a forum for the first time ever. (Besides commenting on THIS games forum during beta to help THIS games customers with bugs.) How can you screw over your customers that much that you don't even give an option to switch characters to console like it was promised as well in the original delay article for consoles. This is absolutely absurd and I honestly have never felt so disappointed towards a gaming studio in my life.

- I do not understand why this was a limited time promotion when it was not advertised as one a year ago upon its announcement? The only reason for it to be limited time is for ZoS to take advantage of their customers, save money, and weasel more money out of their pockets. It would have been much more meaningful if the promise you made a year ago didn't have so many limitations and guidelines to it. And if so, why would you not advertise that back then?

I have seen the countless posts about this but to think that everyone should have seen the offer is absolutely ignorant. Please think about other peoples lives where they are less fortunate to have seen the promotion because they work a very busy job, are dealing with family issues, or are in the military. You lost some very good customers due to this.... And It is even more disappointing to think that customer support has no connection with this company on this issue, but is merely there to sit and listen to upset customers on the issue. What is the point of your customer support ZoS?

You could easily fix this ZoS and show these veteran customers that you truly care. Reaching out to them to fix this issue could show how fantastic of a company I thought you were.

Have no extension or response to these customer, But how can you be happy with that money in your pocket knowing you took advantage of the less fortunate....
You may have lost a supporting customer today ZoS.....

ZOS should combine all these "its not fair you are treating me like everyone else that missed the boat" threads into one.
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

Believe me, I am by default a PC gamer. But I wish to have the transfer for the sake of family and friends that are casual gamers and cannot afford nor care to build a PC.

Please read the thread. Like I mentioned "I have seen the countless posts about this but to think that everyone should have seen the offer is absolutely ignorant. Please think about other peoples lives where they are less fortunate to have seen the promotion because they work a very busy job, are dealing with family issues, or are in the military."

You are not taking everyone into consideration here. I understand where you're coming from when you ask me that. I would just like ZoS to doing something for the less fortunate, that is all. Thanks. :)

They can't because then everyone that ignored the emails becomes "less fortunate", everyone comes up with a sob story and expects to get the same treatment as whomevers story ZOS picked first. In *this* ZOS is being completely fair across the board.

I didn't play long on the PC (didn't like keyboard mouse control) and never seen or heard of an offer allowing me to purchase the game for console for a discounted price.

I really don't care about the character transfer from PC to Console but would have liked saving a few $$ and not have to paid full retail for the game for 2 systems.

Apparently the people who said they didn't want to have information about offers and promotions are annoyed because they didn't get information about an offer and promotion.

They likely will at some point in the future for a nominal fee. I don't know what ZOS's reasons are for this, could be technical, could be whatever. But I personally think its good that they limited it and are sticking to it, for balance reasons if nothing else.

Look I am not asking for anyone to agree or disagree. And please don't comment unless you read the post. All I am asking is that the less fortunate be taken into consideration and if you read the entirety of the post you can see that. A lot of you are commenting without even reading it. I would just like ZoS to take there people into consideration. I know why I missed it and that is none of anyone's business, but just read it and try to be level headed here. Please.

It is a copy. If you allow people to copy characters all the time, they will duplicate valuable items.

If you move characters, deleting the character from one server (and all their gear), it makes sense to allow that on demand.

Again, @Obsicarius ZOS is being level headed. How do they decide between who is telling the truth or not? Start asking people to provide proof? Devote people to verifying death notices, dr notes and w/e?

If they take it at face value, how many other people are going to exploit that? Sticking to their guns is the most fair thing they can do across the board.

Its not at all a temper tantrum and I completely agree with you. Look, I know what I was up to an why I missed and I didn't mention that because of this reason. My case is like anyone else's that missed it. Unimportant. What matters is that all of us that missed it had something going on at the time or had our own reason. I just think it is fair that ZoS does something to understand that especially since they never said this with the original announcement last year. I love ESO and I want to start playing again. But the reason I was going to start again was taken from me. I didn't get the email and that is besides the fact. ZoS shouldn't put limitations on a promise they made to veteran customers.

It honestly sounds like the pitch was made and Sony and Microsoft agreed but then looking at the actual sales vs sales potential it's possible that the window of opportunity was left up to Sony and Microsoft along with Zenimax so thinking about three different companies coming to an agreement on a promotional offer tends to drive limiting factors

Don't think of it as "just" Zenimax even though they may be paying the difference or being charged in some ways by Sony and Mircosoft

Like I mentioned in the post, it is one thing if the money offer was limited time. But why limit the time for transfer of characters as well. I am at this point fine with paying another $60 for the game. I think the studio did very well with the game and how far it has come at this point. But not having the ability to transfer my characters and items is upsetting because everything on PC now seems to be a waste. The point of transferring to console was to have more people to play with.
