Will people actually get banned for harrassment/insult?

When I was doing a dungeon in Stormhaven today (VR2/Silver), a VR13 player raged through and killed everything before I could even hit a button. When I came to the boss room, the boss was still there and I started attacking. While fighting, I saw in the chat that he asked me to wait, well, too late. Then he called me a "c*nt". Next thing I did was reporting him. But will players like this actually get banned? I got a message from the support, but it also included that they cannot let me know of the outcome.

I'm quite convinced that players don't get banned or punished for anythig they do in ESO.

We've openly reported some very specific PvP players who were glitching for months. Mass player reports, when that didn't work forum spam, when that didn't work YouTube videos, etc. All said and done the player still plays.

Maybe harassment is taken more serious than blatantly breaking the game mechanics? I'm not sure. I've also never received any kind of achknowledgement from ZoS for anyone I have reported, so maybe that's a step in the right direction.

Well to be fair that was rude of you. Sure it may have seemed rude to you that he stormed through the other mobs, but most people want to get through the trash to fight the boss anyway, and at least he waited to share that with you. Obviously you're in a minority that enjoys killing all the cluttering trash mobs but it's hard to blame him for not assuming that considering it's a rarity.

nope its not rude maybe he wasnt kind but you cant call people rude just because they kill a boss. I dont have to wait for someone stranger to me. He can wait for boss spawn instead of me same thing.

Yes I did read, you seem not to understand what I am saying. MOST people do not care if they kill the trash or someone else kills them, as such the VR13 likely assumed you were like most and did not care, so he probably felt you would be indifferent or grateful for his clearing of the trash mobs, obviously you did care but it is hard to assume that when most players aren't like you.

And that fact you couldn't see him proves my point that he rushed to the boss and waited for you, so you could kill it together since most players do care about the boss and the VR13 recognized this and decided to be courteous and wait for you, however you decided to take an eye for an eye and kill the boss, thus making the VR13 wait till the boss re-spawned just because he was trying to be nice and wait FOR YOU.

That seems kind of rude to me.

Sure you can, I just did. If you kill a boss that someone politely asks you to wait a second before attacking just to spite them it is rude.

That's true, I did not understand what you're saying. I still don't as it makes no sense in any way. As a player who still needs to level in the current zone, OF COURSE I kill the trashmobs, like everyone else does, except for you, apparently. Having a VR13 who gains nothing from it passing by all the time killing everything is not helpful at all. And that he was nowhere to see in the bossroom is not my fault. So saying I was rude means you support his behaviour as well as the insult afterwards? Interesting!

Sure everyone kills trash mobs, but Most players DON'T CARE if they kill them or not, the xp is minimal and has little effect on keeping your lvl with the zone, so MOST PLAYERS only really care about getting to the boss. As such if MOST players were in a dungeon a high lvl breezing through the trash mobs but saving the boss for them would be seen as courteous not rude.

I don't necessarily support the action, if you whispered him and told him the mobs were important to you then it would be rude of him to disregard that, but it seems you did not, so by logical reasoning he felt it was likely he was helping you out not upsetting you.

I do however support the insult, you did deserve that one, anyone who does something out of spite does.

well I don't know if they actually do anything @Moonshadow66, but reporting was all you could do.

And no, you don't "have" to wait, even if you had seen the request. It's an mmo, sometimes you wait, sometimes you make someone else wait, it is simply the way of it....but there is no rule that says you must always check with other players around you before proceeding against any mobs/bosses.

As nice as it is to be courteous, you can't always play doing for others that aren't offering the same. Good lord it would take forever to get anything done.

for me asking someone stranger to wait for me is rude mate. and if he dont wait, you can say he is not generous person but you cant call him rude. Do you do somethings when random person ask from you in the street ?

And when I actually SEE a player who is about to do the same as I want to, I wait, if possible. In this case I didn't see it. When I start a dolmen and some other players jump in, I even thank them afterwards. Mostly I don't get a reply. But apparently I am the one here who is so spiteful (see the troll postings here).

No not a troll, I am allowed to have my opinion whether or not you fell it is valid/logical/good doesn't make it a troll. You could have easily run away but that's not the point. He didn't know you didn't see him or the message so imagine it from his eyes. All he seen was someone stealing a boss he intended to share with them despite his plea not to. Obviously from his point of view it seems very rude and you can see why he might have felt frustrated enough to call you a name out of anger.
