Oh really? I thought it was advertised as MMO... OK.

Still doesn't justify the horrible loot system though.

I think he is more upset that his friend got his weapon on his first clear. After all, a dsa clear guarantees a set bonus or master weapon. Most MMO don't guarantee you will get a thing. Usually only 1/4 the party gets anything. Here we all win.

I am pissed I've been completing DSA almost every day for the past three months and am just as close to getting the weapon I actually need as was the first time I cleared that content. I am sorry I expect the game to be at least a little bit fair? I mean, surely you don't think loot drop should be defined only by luck, do you? There should be some sort of chance increase if you completed the same content over 60 times, or am I wrong here?

And here we don't all win at all? You are not guaranteed a Master weapon upon completing DSA. On the run my friends got the weapon I need, I got two useless greens and a soul gem. It felt super rewarding.

Oh, I do sense your rage. I didn't say we were guaranteed a master for completing dsa but that we are guaranteed a set bonus or master for completion.

I'd rather this system over the lame 1/4 the group gets loot. It ain't perfect but far from the worst loot system in MMO history.

How about adding the fact that there ares no "Holy Moly" item drops in regular grinding in this game? You can grind regular mobs all over forever on a 24/7 basis and just get purples as your best drops. Every game should have some really rare and uber drops to make the drudgery hopeful. And don't say it is to stop bots from farming the top drops, as they can make such drops bind on pick-up if they wanted to.

Well, at least you pictured a awesome movie... I guess...

As for every MMO being the same, you incorrect. The best MMOs changed from being purely RNG oriented to having other connected systems to compensate for "lack of luck".

Hi there, here to share a little personal tale of my adventures in ESO today!

I am wondering how many here have similar tales to tell, something tells me quite a few of us share similar experience. I've been running DSA and Vet DSA for at least 3 months now. I run it almost every day, sometimes two or three times a day! Why, you might ask? I am after one of the fabled Master weapons, of course!

Right now I have all of them! Well, correction, I have all the ones I DON'T NEED! And so I am forced to say, ESO has the worse loot system ever released for an MMO. Completely reliant on RNG, does not reward the players effort as doing content time and time again doesn't you will get the gear you need! NO, most times it means you will get some useless green crap and watch as your friend (running the content for the first time ever) gets the gear you;ve been farming for months!

It is super fair! And it is not happening only in DSA! NO! We also have the Undaunted sets to farm! And those are just as bad if not worse than the Master Weapons because even when you manage to get the Helmet or Shoulder piece to drop, you have 66% chance of it not being in Armor Weight you need and the chance gets even worse if you take into account you can get a useless well-fitted, exploration or sturdy piece! (and before you say ZoS removed Sturdy from the loot table, they only did so for shoulders. Helmets can still drop sturdy, even though ZOS already admitted the trait is pure crap!)

So, raise your hands those of you that share a similar tale to mine! Raise your hands if you agree this game has the worse ever released reward system in MMO history! Right now we have 2 of the 3 trials out there that don't drop a singular useful piece! We have quests giving gear so bad that using it should be a ban-worthy offense! We have DSA that can reward you completely useless greens and soul gems for completion! (YES, it can happen! I completed DSA yesterday with a few friends, two of them got the Master I desperately need, I got to *** greens and a soul gem!!!! It was super fun!)

look man you're wasting time, those master weapons sux compared to crafted set weapons
    I'm outta here

all loot should just be reduced, kill a mud crab and get like 7 staves and 3 shields and 3 hides : > - id like a 1 in 10 chance of getting anything other than some hide or animal product while humanoid mobs should only drop what they use as equipment but increase the gold they drop to something like 5 - 120 pieces depending on lvl - excluding boss and named mobs although they should still drop item related to their class then we can have a real economy and using the guild stores will have a real purpose : )

    History is a long time.

While I sympathize with the frustration and agree that any decent loot system needs to give players a sense of accomplishment instead of disappointment, ESO's loot system is not the worst loot system in history.

That would be anything involving "roll/pass/need/greed" and similar systems.

If ESO had something like that, I probably would have never bought the game.

Not at all. I played MMOs where you get solutions to this issue. In example, in WAR you'd get tokens and you could redeem exactly the item you wanted with them.

EQ (the first one) has a very bad loot system. (Loot was not instanced per person, so players 'ninja looted' the good stuff.

I like ESO's loot system, but a token system where we can break down dropped end game loot for tokens to get the piece we want would improve it.

True. The unfortunate reality is people tend to gripe about the system they are dealing with if it seems to home them back. With R/N/P tend to have people complain they cannot roll in the weapon because they got boots already. Lol

eso's loot system is better than some mmo's.

Destiny for example, gods that loot system brutal.

truth is, i prefer eso's system to some other mmo's. i truly, truly hate mmo's that rely purly on drops for the best gear.

I have been and always will be a strong supporter of RNG systems. RNG systems done right, that is. Especially against these "no child left behind" token systems games are adding in. You farm and farm and farm to get tokens to purchase the items you want. Now you have all the items you want, what now? There's no need to run the dungeons again - so you stand in Reapers to show off the gear? RNG systems provide a reason to replay certain aspects of games. It's the sole purpose behind them.

Anyways, I do however believe ALL items in games should be tradable. You get an Undaunted light helmet, someone else has the same helmet in heavy, what's the issue with you two trading? Same goes for everything, other than items that have already been equip of course.

If people are quitting the game because they can't get the items they want, so be it. Games are meant to be enjoyable, it's not about having the best of everything, it's about having fun. Something much of the gaming community has forgotten in the past years.

Nope. There's some simple math involved.

    You can implement:

    - a loot system that will statistically give out one Helm of Kings with all the random stats "aligned well" to make it perfect every 120 instance runs

    - a loot system where each run grants 4 "tokens". An Helm of Kings costs 480 tokens. That is, you will get it after 120 instance runs.

Looks like you can actually implement a tokens system that will put you through a similar effort, therefore the "time sink" is perfectly factored in and identical to the RNG system.

    What changes for players instead:

    - Tokens give the strong feeling of being in control, of being able to plan the direction you take to gear up. "First I get helm and I'll get the right one of course, then the chest... and so on". Does not matter if it still takes 120 runs like the RNG system, you can feel a predictable progress towards this objective.

    - You don't get 20 "quasi good drops": this makes people annoyed as crazy. You get the helm dropped times and again but it's never the one with all the stats you wanted (DSA Master Weapon Effect).

    - RNG is RNG. After an average of 120 runs, the drop is still not guaranteed. It could take 150 runs instead. More frustration ensues.

    - Often in a token system you can "deconstruct" certain items and get some tokens out of then. You immediately get the feeling you can get the helm quicker,

You can say it is the worst, just because you had bad luck. But I will say it is the best, coz I got the Master Weapons I need the time I received my 1st PVP rewards being in top 2%. I also got the pair of undaunted sets the very first time I went for undaunted dungeons. And that is all because I am lucky enough. These are the best weapons and gears, I dont want anyone or everyone to get them so that I can have advantage over them. Well, sadly, a lot of them getting it too. But we were just lucky, and we are happy we are luckier than you. This is the best loot system, ignoring how many times you did grind to get an item, and it is based only on pure luck. The Best Ever! hahaha

I got all I wanted in just the 1st try, you will get yours after a hundred years if youre lucky enough! lol

I personally do not like the loot system either, I mean how many lockpicks is there in stuff, it really takes the biscuit.

Best of it is, the RNG gods are pretty good to me as well, and I still hate some of the loot it provides and I hate to use the term loot, as it really is not lol

Boils down to just pure random chance, and luck, I am a lucky guy in RL but it needs to be better for a lot of people to make it fairer.

Also, just because the same topic was brought up on other MMO forums, it doesn't mean it has no place here. This is a problem and the forums, as far as I am aware, is here to address such problems

I agree, this game needs to update its loot system.

    Some possible suggestions.

My number 1 complaint, all gear and equipment you get from end game content Trials, Vet DSA and Vet Dungeons should be clear upgrades. Even if it is a small upgrade it should at least be an upgrade. Currently all the gear in end game content is a compromise between easily attainable gear either through crafting or guild trader and adds no measurable advantage in switching.

Allow crafters to change the trait on armor and weapons. This could require a rare ingredient like nirnhoned and X number of researched traits in order to change the trait. So if you do get that crappy trait you do not want then at least you can change it.

The master weapons should be just an enchant you can place on any weapon of your choice. Currently you are just exchanging bonuses for other bonuses. The additional damage "from ability" and stat bonus is equivalent to a normal damage enchant and set bonus that you loose when you switch out the master weapon. This way we can just put the enchant on the weapon that we like to use.

Add special armor enchants as well as additional weapon enchants that crafters can not make. These enchants should be BoP and only drop of the final boss in vet content.

More jewelry set pieces and or just add jewelry to the set pieces already in game. Also make a way that we can at least upgrade the quality of the jewelry if you do not plan on adding jewel crafting.

Allow crafters to change the armor type to light, medium or heavy and also increase the level. Again this could require a rare ingredient in order to make the transformation, but at least you have the option to keep farming for the armor you want or the rare ingredient. There are some cool armor/weapon sets that stop at V12, give us a way to get it at V14.

I would also like to see new crafting stations added at the end of vet dungeons and DSA. The only way to get to them is to complete the dungeon. Though these should actually be good crafting stations, it seems the more traits required to make a set the worse they get.
