Selling full sets on the guild store

I have an idea that I believe will help out both crafters and the economy. I think there should be a way to sell full sets of gear, enchantments, materials, food, etc. This could be done by enabling a bag system on the guild stores. This bag could have up to 10 slots within it to sell set items that crafters could place in the bag for consumers to purchase. Enchanters could different bags on the markets with different assortments of full sets of glyphs. Or, armor crafters could place full sets of gear and weapons in the bags. The bags should still take up only one slot out of the 30 allotted on the store. (Note: I am not talking about being able to have a bag in your inventory; this would be something within the UI that is only accessible via the guild store that you could place items into. Then when purchased, the buyer would not get a bag; rather they would get the items within the bag sent to them)

This system could even be tied to passives within your craft. Perhaps, you would need to master the craft and then spend skill points into this “bag passive” that allows you to either sell only so many bags (per skill point invested) or to just flat out unlock the ability to sell in bags. This would add incentive to crafters to actually max out their skill as well. I think the crafters should be able to name their bags so returning customers will know what bag contains what kind of stuff based off the name. This can also help create a name for some crafters and maybe bring more meaning to crafting.

like selling coffers containing gear sets or some other nonsense?

    ya thats a cool idea.

we already have the coffer mechanics and the ability to send multiple items... just make sure people know what are in a coffer they are buying, and make sure to limit it to a certain number like mail.
I play every class in every situation. I love them all.

Yea, people should be able to open the container/bag before purchasing. They will need to know what they are buying =)

The coffer is actually not a bad idea. instead of the items showing in the mail, it would be the coffer that they could open from mail to get the items.

I do not know anyone who has bought set gear off a guild store (crafted). It is just better to get he gear tailored how you want it. Style, trait, etc.

I'm not sure what to vote for here.

I can see why people would want to be able to do that to save themselves some slots, but there is so much possible customization that this would only work for certain sets (like the 3-piece sets that only have three pieces).

Anything else, you risk someone passing up your 5-piece set because you have legs and shoulders in there and they already have a different set in those slots and were actually looking for a set that was head, legs, chest, hands and feet.

Same thing with crafted gear. While there is a normative "better" trait set that is put on specific armor pieces, people are looking for different styles and it is always better to discuss details with the crafter than to look for a crafted set to buy.

You could probably do this to sell sets of food/potions at a specific level for a specific play style (Magicka, Stamina, PvP, etc), but for actual armor and weapons, I don't know.

More times than not, sellers make more off individual item purchases than they do selling in a lot. Even the guy selling Hot Wheels out of his trunk in the Target parking lot knows that.

Do you know what people want when they buy multiples or in bulk? Discounts.

So don't be surprised when you mark up a full set and it doesn't sell because only a few people want every single piece.
Also don't be surprised if somebody does buy it after you lower the price and makes more of a profit selling the pieces individually.

Don't you love salesmanship? Certainly not for idle hands...

Thinking on this a bit more, bundled selling would be nice. Not only for set gear, but allowing bulk sale of crafting materials. Want to sell 2k raw wood? Would be easier to sell as bulk because many people buy bulk.

This reminds me of the Armor Set Boxes in RuneScape's Grand Exchange. As a Blacksmith I would forge sets of armor and then sell them as bundles on the Grand Exchange. Each piece of the armor set would be boxed up as a suit, so when a person bought it, they would get every armor piece in one purchase.

I think that helps with low level economy too, as crafters can make a set of, say, steel armor and weapons and players can keep their gear upgraded with one purchase.
They'll likely be expensive, though, due to the exorbitant prices for some tempering materials.

I don't believe this would be as useful as you think.

People use different parts of different sets. Maybe 5 pieces, maybe only 2, and not always the same. I wouldn't want to buy a complete set (all armour/weapons) to pick and choose which items I need and discard the rest.

Besides, people don't always use the same traits on the same pieces of gear, and you can't change traits after an item has been crafted, so it would be difficult or even impossible to cater to every build.

Finally, if the "bag" description would be all a potential buyer would have to go by, the possibilities for abuse would be endless. Make an empty bag, name it "OP VR14 GOLD GEAR OF ASS-WHOOP" and trick someone with more gold than sense... They would have to make it possible to look in the bag before purchasing.

All things considered, not really a simple thing to implement, and I have doubts about how useful it would actually be.

Well, this would only work if the buyer could look in the bag before purchasing. Also, the option to sell individual pieces is still present, the bags would not replace that unless you choose to sell exclusively in bags.

What about for enchanting though? When a player purchases glyphs for their armor they typically purchase 5 or more glyphs. Would be nice to be able to offer a discount and sell them a full set. There are so many people asking around for full sets of armor to be made all of the time. It would be nice to be able to just throw them on the store. It is impossible to offer a large variety of full sets on the store as it is currently due to the 30 item restriction. You could only do a handful of sets assuming that is all you sell. if bags were implemented you could do so much more.

Partially because no one places crafted armor for sale on the store, unless its just for research. People are always buying sets out of store. With there being 30 slots you can offer 30 different sets with different styles and traits geared towards specific builds. Certain sets sell more than others and its not hard to figure out a good niche to sell at.

when im leveling an alt, this would for sure be awesome, im sometimes to lacy to craft it myself, and knowing others can benefit from me buying the gear as well, I tent to do it. But with this I would probably do it even more.

My last alt had lvl 32 crafted gear on all the way up to vr1, if this were implemented I would had changed it once or twice before vr1

Aren't discounts incentive to purchase in bulk? I see this as a good thing for both the consumer and the crafter.

It doesn't cost very much to craft the items and why not pass that discount down to the customer to make a larger sale? Its better this way instead of screwing the buyer and charging more for one piece.

I agree with this. Say I sell a single piece for 3k. I don't mind selling additional pieces with that one at say +1k each. A full 5 piece would then be 7k in this example. Yes, I get less per piece, but for me the main "cost" with making set gear is the walk out to the crafting station. If I'm already there, I don't mind selling a set at a bulk discount. The seller may end up selling a few pieces the buyer didn't even want, but paid for anyway and the buyer gets a bulk deal. Sounds good to me.
