ZOS - Race / Appearance change WHEN?

Well, all of the races are supposed to be rebalanced before they actually add race changes to the Crown store, so it may turn out that people don't even end up wanting to change their races in the end.

Or it may be that everyone decides they want to change their race.

    Only time will tell, really.

Race Change is VERY dangerous. What stops ZOS from "rebalancing" racial passives every 6 months or so leading players to feeling "encouraged" to buy a race change from the Crown Store?

I'm not saying they would DO this, I'm saying it opens the door for abuse.

I'd prefer we be given the option to choose racial passives for alts: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/153977/eso-character-offspring-a-phylogenetics-concept/p1

    NO race change.
NO "free choice" of racial passives.
This game has already bended TES lore in so many ways, we DON'T need to ruin it completely.
This is a MMO not single player likes skyrim enough with the lore the game has plenty lore related stuff letting you change race is just for the convenience of the game so people can try new toons and builds this is a game remember that, not a book.

Why do we have 8 character slots if we can just change race and class any time we want. Prefer the choice we make being a choice we live with and roll a new character if we want something different.

I've got 16 full slots, I have no choice but to delete if I want to try something different. : P

But the fact remains that if this were a single player game where your choices always remained YOUR choices, this would never be a real issue.

But it isn't. This is a MMO and some of the races have already changed drastically from what they were when the game launched. The game itself has also changed drastically from what it was when it launched.

I didn't choose those things, others made those choices FOR me. Why should I be stuck using a race that feels inferior at pretty much everything because others decided arbitrarily to change what was once a great choice into an awful one?

If you bought yourself a brand new Tesla and woke up one morning to find a beat up Civic parked where it used to be, would you just be okay w/ that?

I think a lot of people are happy with their race but don't feel empowered enough by their racial passives for the specific role their character plays.

I think the best solution would be a "Passive Morph" that allows you to change your passives on every character once every 30 days. Offer 3 to 5 alternatives to promote diversity.

Bundle it with a ectoplasmic horse and ectoplasmic costume (both translucent blue), a Wormmouth pet, and charge 2000 crowns. Because it would probably be overpriced if they sold the P-Morph all by itself.

Considering it is limited with racial passives, this kind of change is actually my desire that I don't announce it often.

I mean I like the Nords by their appearance with all the beards and large muscular body options offered to players.
They fit that berserk warrior archetype perfectly. But Imperial passives are so damn good and versatile to not to choose them over Nords.

Balancing races would put this issue into something more acceptable place, but I never believe they will put all races in line with Imperials. It is paid race after all.

Im all in for the convinience of changing race by crownstore instead of rerolling and I hope to see Lvl to max pots and CP-pots sold alongside it. Perhaps a neat little shortcut package?

I'm very much opposed to this. Not because it's lore-breaking, but because it's ridiculous. You don't need to change your race. To my knowledge, no MMO has ever allowed race changes, and I've been playing since the 90s, yet every MMO evolves and changes. The only people who feel they need to change are hardcore min-maxers, who shouldn't have a problem rerolling the race they want if it's that important to them to get 0.5% effectiveness in 2 combat skills--seriously, does race really matter beyond that level?

Let's make choices matter. All this race changing and account wide achievements crap is absurd.

Your knowledge seems to be extremely limited. Many popular MMOs have allowed race changes.

In fact, the MOST popular MMOs currently allow race changes.

I'm frankly surprised it took this long and it's still not incorprated into the game yet. There seems to be a surprising amount of negativity in regards to race/appearence changes. I'm perplexed because I don't like my character having a locked in appearence for ever and ever. I don't necessarily care for race change, but I would like to be able to change what I already have. It sucks because when I first started playing I was on a potato and my toons looked (relatively) good then and now with a much better rig some of my characters are actually kind of ugly. I would love the ability to tweak things for the better.

actually there is a quest where a dunmer made a concoction that actually turned him into an argonian the potion was slightly off as he meant to become a khajiit so if an npc is in the world doing it its not so lore breaking after all

I often mention that one as well... if alchemy can change orcs into monkeys and dunmer into argonians... then race change is in the lore. Period.

That said... I can also understand why some would not want people changing their character race all the time as they chase the FotM, and I myself would Hate any "free choice of racial passives" idea, since both caters too much to the min/maxer crowd.

But regardless of that, I am not opposed to the option being available in the crown store - provided it costs enough to make it something to think twice about. If a race change costs, say, 3000 crowns... I'd be happy with that, it would be expensive enough to keep people from overdoing it (and any who still buy it will just fill the developers war chest to finance more content for all of us coming that much sooner)

And I myself wouldn't see any need to change my races, no matter what the PTB do with my passives, since I play my races because they fit my character idea, not for the passives - the only time I would consider race change was if they added more races, then I might want to reimagine one of my alts. Maybe.

I don't think I'll ever quite understand the whole "race change is lore breaking" argument. With all the crazy things that happen in Tamriel, someone finding a way to change their race wouldn't make my top 10 list.

Didn't someone already manage it? I can't remember where it was but wasn't there a quest where a Dunmer managed to transform himself into a khajiit because he liked them and wanted to be one? It might not have been a dunmer or khajiit, but pretty sure it was an elf to a beastrace.

I also can't remember if they succeded, but it was definitely a quest. It's been awhile.

Regardless, even without that, I just see it as gameplay/story segregation

cold harbour, the vile laboratory, the soul meld mages. it was two entities in one and..... quest lore (spoilers)

Xuhl'Xotuun - Warden Current Main as im starting the game over essentially with this character aside from crafting.

Considering the Dwemer motif costs 5,000 crowns and that's for a relatively useless cosmetic item that you could farm the gold for in a few days. I have a feeling they'll charge more than 3,000. I don't agree with their pricing but I suspect a race change would be closer to 10,000 crowns.
