We were able to fly, swim/dive and build our own house in previous Elder Scrolls titles. Why wasn't the game built with these capabilities from the ground up?
I thought the round-table developer thing they aired last Friday about swimming was interesting... but I don't understand why they're acting like they just invented swimming and underwater combat... because it's been around in games for a while, right? (see Super Mario Brothers)
Of course not everything in Skyrim was going to work in ESO, but now they're having to re-write all of this code to implement these things when it should have been apparent from the beginning that we'd want/expect them in game.
Like dying weapons/weapon hilts and shields. Of course we want that now, so they'll match our gear. Lot's of games let you dye your gear. And it usually comes with the game when you buy it, versus waiting over a year for developers to finish it.
Or console launch... boy did that ever get pushed back.
Meanwhile folks in Cyrodiil are getting ready to revolt because their area is still far from finished, and I don't blame them. Of course they're angry when these upgrades that were in place in a previous title are getting patched in bit by bit taking away from development of new content and finishing content that probably should have been finished last December.
It just seems like they're doing more work now than they would have had to do if they had released on all platforms together and included these things that they should have known we'd want: dying, diving, housing, flying, a complete/finished PVP area, etc.
And we have to hound them about when this system is going to be finished and when that system will be introduced. And they don't know so they don't have anything for us, or they don't want to say because they don't want to be responsible for a public deadline. It's just a frustrating situation for everyone involved, I think.
