Do we need information page of players and guilds? (Player and Guild roster)

I will describe this briefly, because you know this kind of functionality from other games I bet. I want to ask Zenimax Online to create a dynamic information page which include information about players and guilds. This information would be: name, nametag, race and class, looks, gear, talents spent(including crafting and motifs owned), ability bars setup, raid and pvp progression, achievements. For guilds a simple roster would suffice - name of the guild, player list, raid progression, tabard, guild trader name and location, in future possible guild achievements.

I suggest that every player or guild could make its information private - so the info shown on page would be kind of minimalistic one - a name and nametag or something.

This kind of functionality would make possible comparing builds, achievements, looking up friends and their progress, finding our own best build, look or guild etc.

Please vote and dont hesitate to share your thoughts.

When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

    1) No build/rotation stealing. Nothing encourages the lack of creativity more than this.
    2) No public crafting talents. No one wants to be bothered by 9-trait sets crafting requests all the time.

I would say this could be cool, but by default you are not included. I imagine many players do not want to share their builds, crafting achievements or otherwise.

There's another thread similar to this started yesterday that I think you may agree with and I thought you might want to see: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/170274/community-resource-ideas#latest

It has more detail. I think you two should connect and work on a thread together and push for this! :3

No we don't "need" any of this.
The suggestions are nice to have's but with this comes other concerns that I believe are best left out of this game.

I do believe the "need" is just an ingame way to search for guilds who want to flag themselves as open to adding more members. Maybe a 250 character count of a brief description would accompany the listing.

    That's about it

I like the general idea, but my concern is that it may turn into a "show me all of your info or I'm not willing to group with you for this raid - and if I don't like what I see, I won't group with you anyway" kind of situation. I'm not sure what would be the best way to avoid that, but some consideration of that potential problem would have to be made.

Additionally, I'd like there to be some free format fields where you could put in whatever info you'd like. Maybe you want to type in there that you're looking for friends who are interested in fishing with you, or that you're interested in finding people to group with for Craglorn questing, or whatever. Maybe you want to put some RP info in there so that other RPers can know your character's backstory. Maybe a guild can put some info about them there: a webpage, some of their rules, what their main focus is, whatever.

About the first statement a simple private profile would be enough, also its not a problem to implement a feature to actually choose what we want to share with the world about our character. Dont want people to know your build, but still want your friends to see your achievements? Tick options you want to share.

    About putting custom info:
Thats a great idea knowing that this game is a great place for RPers and gives virtually unlimited possibilities for character background.

Concerning I dont want to share my crafting/skills/rotation - this is solved by adding a custom "What I want to share" feature.

My concern with that is that there may be people who will demand that you make those things visible if you want to group with them. I don't know, this is the only MMO I play, and I don't tend to ever play with any hardcore types who would do that (and frankly if someone demanded to see my build I'd tell them where to go), but I've heard people on the forums raise these concerns about similar ideas in the past, and it seems like something that may happen.

Well, you can't blame people for being cautious. I can tell you that after many hours of work I would rather do some quality dungeons and raids. You can always refuse to show the info and find another group or reason with person who forces you to share. Its sometimes very annoying when someone joins a raid swearing hes got 10k dps and then making not even close to 6...

On the other hand if someone thinks to steal your build by forcing you to show the info hes a huge *** and not worth joining up with - all you need to avoid this is a little of common sense.

Yes, but the system shown above needs some changes.
I am generally ok with some of the principles behind it (connecting with friends/finding particular guilds of interest), but many of the proposed features seem to essentially make it an inspect feature for players and guilds which I am vehemently against.
For instance, the "gear, talents spent(including crafting and motifs owned), ability bars setup, raid and pvp progression, achievements" are things I would not want to be publically available in game in any shape or form. The system implementation itself may be fine, but players tend to abuse them to harass/pressure other players to concede to particular standard (including openly showing all information) regardless of any attempt the other player makes to try and keep the stat/gear/achievement/etc. information private. The information becomes standard, and certain players who want to push this standard onto those outside their circles tend to do so somewhat aggressively.

If this system was more toward trying to locate friends/guilds (some of which may need members), then I would fully support this idea. It certainly has potential in that respect.

To that end, if you want to connect to players who are interested in stats/gear/abilities, then might I suggest an optionally selected tag or symbol of some sort that essentially signifies that you are interested in meeting/discussing those topics?

No, we dont need this kind of thing.
This can easily be done on a guild website that any motivated guild would have. I'd rather Zos focus on the actual game instead of reinventing guild hosting websites.
