Is fishing in ESO a pain?

On a similar note, how come fishing guilds aren't more popular? I never see them in any zone chat. I could see them being rare, since it's a bit of a niche, not mandatory thing, but still, I'm not even sure they exist.

I actually did see a Fishing Guild in the game. I think it was called Tamriel Anglers or something like that. They had a kiosk full of over priced bait but that was how I saw their guild name.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Fishing is easy, baits are easy to get or cheap to buy.

That said, getting the Master Angler title takes lots of dedication and many hours with your line in the water. But, you also get lots of fish that can be used in provisioning or sold on guild stores. The rare fish (blue & green) also vendor for a decent amount of gold.

I also tend to meet new people while fishing.

Because it's really hard to recruit members ingame for a pure fishing guild :)
Many players are in 5 guilds already and don't want to give up a guild slot "just" for fishing.

Also, the players that do work hard on their fishing achievement tend to be very well organized hardcore players that have no need for a guild and already have a few people on their friendlist they can fish with.

At least, that's my explanation :)

I post recruitment messages for my guild in zone chat almost every day in many different zones (that's on the EU server).

So, I was thinking about start fishing...but reading about it...I feel like Im gonna need tons of hours and tons of baits. Im.seeing posta talking about needing 700 or more baits to get some kind of fishes. Thats insane and not funny at all.

So,it is that hard? Is there some EU fishing guild?

its is not hard its just annyoing i wish the fishing aspect was more fun prehaps a small boat you can buy or have the fish jumping anamation not just be gray blobs and splashs

don't get mad at my spelling, autocorrect doesn't cover fantasy.
Why couldn't the Khajiit go to the party? She had to be Elsweyr.

I just wish fishing had more to it and was a little more useful. Needs more of a reason to fish in particular zones than just getting an achievement. I hate to use this as an example, but WoW has fishing gear, tournaments, quests (including dailies), fish that provide buffs, alchemy ingredients, equip-able fish, containers of various description and content, fish school tracking skill, pets, mounts, even a raid boss or two.

ESO has fish that you use to make the generic provisioning item "fish", wet sacks that contain a couple of crafting ingredients, and trophy fish that give you credit the first time they are caught toward an achievement and are otherwise entirely vendor trash.

Not saying we have to copy WoW. It's just that there's a lot of potential here to make fishing a much more meaningful part of the game.
