But those were single player games. How would this even work in a mmo? Tamriel: the land of polygamy??

Nah, everyone would just have to buy their own bride in cash shop. There could be several different models.

Imagine how much time people would spend if they were provided the character generator to create their spouse after they bought them in the cash shop.

Why would it necessarily entail polygamy? Ever play SWTOR? Everyone has the same companions and you can even be romantically involved with some of them. I've yet to see someone run up to another character with the same companion as them and yell, "What do you think you're doing with MY man????" Though, gotta admit, that would be pretty funny. But really, it's no different than the silliness of EVERYONE being the Vestige, the one true hero that saves Tamriel and defeats Molag Bal.

I have a concept I haven't posted regarding this concept where your house has 'slots' for NPCs and pets. NPCs could be given jobs so that they could autocraft items for you while you're away... among other things. I figured getting the house should be first priority.

As much as I enjoy character creation, I would definitely love the opportunity to create a customized house and NPCs. Adding on to my previous suggestions with your spouse it would be pretty great to be able to "hire" and then create your own chef, smith, clothier, etc.

Exactly. Have a whole "family".
2000 Crowns per character slot.

Throughout all my time adventuring in Tamriel I've yet to run across a single child in all the realms. Tamriel is CHILDLESS people! CHILDLESS!! We are the last generation. Who exactly are we saving the world for? Might as well let the bad guys win.
Since many people asking for a housing system.. wouldn't it be great if we could marry a npc? True we have ring of mara, but that is mostly about exp bonus, and not much of immersion

It's as much immersion as you want it to be. There are plenty of RPers out there that actually use it as quite a bit of immersion. Just because it isn't your preference does not mean it is completely not immersive.
