Arunei, You really didn't get the point. Not at all. Nobody wants underwater combat. What's suggested is ability to dive. What's next? no mountains for people suffers vertigo? or no spiders for people got arachnophobia? Or no jumping how about that? You talk like you've never played mmorpgs before. They play these games to do things they can't do in real life, to believe they are in another world. These limitations are killing this genre. Even at launch LOTRO got less limitations than this game and that game released 8 years ago.

You know, it's easier to hold a discussion with someone when you actually mention them and not just bold their name.

I understand perfectly well what the topic is about. I never mentioned underwater combat, so I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion or why you bothered mentioning it. I was simply making an observation and sharing an opinion, unless we're not allowed to do that now? Besides, for one claiming I'm the one missing the point, you're missing it as well. What was initially suggested wasn't even diving specifically, it was just a desire to see realistic water physics in ESO. I admit that would be nice, even if just adding a bit of rocking and bobbing to boats and other objects in water.

If you read the rest of my post you'll see that I did also specifically mention what sort of effect the ability to dive might have in a game where one race is able to breathe water indefinitely. Instead of focusing on the part of my post that was poking light fun of something that bothers me, maybe you should focus on the part that contributes to the discussion at hand?

Also I've played one MMO before this, but what does that even matter? The inability to dive isn't "killing" the game. The lack of substantial content releases and the continued issues with Cyrodiil are what's doing that. I don't know about you, but I'm more than able to believe I'm in "another world" regardless of whether I can go a few feet underwater or not.

Realistic water physics I imagine would put a huge strain on the servers in an MMO. Imagine 50 players battling it out in Cyrodiil with realistic water ripples and splashes on every player. Way too much strain, for even the greatest computer.

But we'll get there someday. Technology's always advancing.

As for underwater swimming, I could see them adding stealth swimming, for use in Cyrodill. PVE side, it wouldn't be very useful. And even then, you probably wouldn't be able to use abilities while in the water.

I'd say they should add in an area specifically for underwater adventuring, but don't people usually hate water levels in game anyway? As for the past elder scrolls games, I don't remember playing much in the water anyway. I remember just a handful of quests in Oblivion that had you play in the water around the Imperial City, and only one in Skyrim.

My graphics card and processor can do it for me so their servers don't have too

    Hey guys,
I just wanted to post this.... I would love to see this in game .... looks fantastic... I hope developers watching because I think they might like it.... This totally belongs to ESO world in the future....

If the physics were so great in that game, shouldn't the guy in full plate have sunk to the bottom and died?

Archeage water is very nice though. Hand gliding was awesome too. Too bad about the rest of the game.

I remember the underwater combat in DAOC. Lots of LOS/targeting shenanigans going on then...

Just imagine one wave in Cyrodiil and the whole server shuts down. ESO can't even handle what it has, no need to try and add more broken codes.

I think the water is fine and the splash effects are great. If there is any underwater content in the future I hope they dont go overboard. The occasional dungeon / ruin that you have to swim underwater to reach the entrance would be good enough for me.

But I would rather see them try to make the game seamless and have boats / ships over new water / swimming underwater / underwater content.

Anyway I hope they'll make this game perfect one day with lag free pvp, balanced classes, underwater content, better physics, mini games, housing, music system etc.
