I know they mentionned that the beta is the full game, but 50GB is a bit too much for me. It will take days to download that.
Yes, the full game will be approximately 50GB, plus an additional patch that is somewhere in the range of 15GB.

As this entire topic quotes, the beta is the full game. The full game is 50 GB + 15 GB patch, which is 65 GB. As the beta is the full game, the beta is also 65 GB.

Same boat as me. In my case, if I get invited, I will be downloading it at a public place with free and fast internet where it's safe to bring an Xbox One. Libraries, Colleges, etc.

Do we have to install all 65 gb of we get the disk version?

Xbox One comes with a 500Gb hard drive, but only 362 GB is usable. That still leaves right under 300 GB for other games, which is plenty in my opinion.
No clue on PS4 spacing, I don't own one.
But then you say:derpsticks wrote: »65gb is not much.
Can you name a larger game besides Star Citizen?
Can you name a larger game on consoles?
Don't get me wrong, I like large games. Saying 65GB is "not much" though is just incorrect though. That's a very large game by any system's (or even PC) standards.
I'm not really sure what you're trying to say. Can you clarify please?
I'm saying 65 GB isn't much compared to the 362 GB space available on an Xbox One, but 65 GB is indeed a lot of space just for one game to use.
1/6 of an entire memory space seems like quite a lot to me. If more games start getting bigger as well players are going to have very little capacity to hold memory for very many games.
Also the real problem in concern to the beta is the downloading time. 65 GB can take a long time for a lot of people, so those who are willing to try out the beta might be unable to or at least only do so for a very short time because of this giant download.

Yes. 50 of that will come from the disk installation though.

Eh bummer. If it somehow ran off the disk I might have considered getting the disk to Save the GBs.

They could have used that unused PC marketing budget and produced beta discs for console users with the core content. Then just patched the 15GB after the disc is validated with a four-day access code.
If you mail the disc back to Zenimax you receive a code to redeem a random pet currently in the Crown Store.
Seriously, if the game isn't far enough along on console to make physical copies for its testers, it's not ready. That was true for the entire duration of the PC beta and for a still-argued span of time afterward. Console is feeling more and more like Zenimax trying to force its customers to once again eat raw meat for the sake of a release date that really needs to be pushed back a few quarters.

honestly....the market needs to stop using disc drives and just sale games on mini USB sticks.
This way as the game prices vary, they can build in the size of games regardless of the medium to buy games on.
The disc era for consoles is pretty much irrelevant as you almost always have to update the games at some point.

I thought all games on XBONE and PS4 now have to be installed to play. Or was that just another urban console myth amongst my fellow Master PC Race members?
yep....misread so I edited the commentWhat makes y'all think there is only gonna be 1 patch of 15gb? Just wait till the bugs that don't get fixed in beta have to be patched. Anyone remember the size of patches we had to put up with at start of game? lol
Not to mention the fact that they have security patches to contend with on consoles which i'd love to know how they work around that.
Fun fun fun.

No on Xbox One you have to install the game even if you have the disc. You need the disc to play, because it's a kind of "key" to activate the game. On Xbox 360 you was playing from the disc, so Skyrim was just 1-2Gb max (can be more, I don't remember).
The thing with disc is that you don't need to download everything and blow your internet connection.
Actually cloud computing is the future. Physical drives will become less relevant as we migrate to that, though it will likely take consoles a while longer to follow suit.NewBlacksmurf wrote: »They could have used that unused PC marketing budget and produced beta discs for console users with the core content. If you already have that many games on your XB1 already, delete games you don't play anymore or shift them to an external drive like this one (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00V7RJCD6/) to make room for games you play more often.
