Killing reliable legerdemain income

Prior to this latest patch, gold income via stealing was a reliable source of solo-play income; at 140 transactions a day at V14 -

two-handed weapons - 72x140 = 10,080
white items - 30x140 = 4,200
Now:
two-handed weapons - 23x140 = 3,220
White items - 30x140 = 4,200

Taking into consideration the prices were seeing for what are considered the "good" sets in guild stores and the intolerable design of having to hit every zone scouring ever vendor if you're looking for a specific set piece; I think this is one of your worst decisions to date, Zenimax. I get why you did it, because of the prevalence of stealable gear in zones I could take 45 minutes, to do 6 writs and steal 10k work of gold and go and play another character - how awful. How terrible, that I be able to have a decent, reliable source of gold that doesn't require a trade guild in a good location or hours of grinding.

Every time Zenimax, that I start to enjoy my NB main again, you do something that breaks it: I would really appreciate it if you got moving on race changes so I could fix that issue and we can get the next time you want to rip my heart out out of the way a little faster.

I don't see how this is an issue. Most of the stuff I steal isn't weapons/armor. It's the random 'Stolen Goods' crap from barrels, dressers, armoires, etc.

Given that weapon stealing was practically a no risk task (especially if you went to Firebrand Keep) its hardly surprising it was nerfed.
Now the more lucrative tasks are pickpocketing and burglary which makes sense.

This was not Zenimax's doing. The Council of Fences had a meeting and since they've been getting so much crap weapons and armor, they've decided to lower what they pay for them across the board. Blame it on whoever's been flooding the market!

Exactly! Now let's get back to farming some guy's nose hair clippers to sell the fences.

Tbh, I didn't even know this was a thing. I got by via pickpocketing and looting containers in city buildings.

Not really, no. I saw you complaining about heavy value reduction in items that were never meant to be stolen, then proceeding to whine about how Zenimax breaks NB every time you start enjoying it.

Go steal stuff like the game was built to do. Well, guess you have no choice now.

Just last night I stole some weapons and armor from the racks. I was just doing so to get items to fence for that count, not for money. Oh boy was the gold haul nice from those items. They really did give more gold per item than even looted stolen Green Armor does. I figured when taking them that I would get like 1 gold as they are the useless White items that we have all ignored since they were put in the world.

So, the price nerf was inevitable. I just wish I had known about the pricing earlier.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

If they were never mean to be stolen, certainly Zenimax wouldn't have made them lootable in one patch, then once the justice system had been implemented, given them a "steal" tag and their normal crafted value.

Anyone could do the math, before they implemented this and see that it would be an easy 10k gold per day, so why would it even be implemented in that state.

As for everything else, I hope they never break anything you find useful or enjoyable.

I stumbled upon this because I needed some materials. I stole some for deconstructing and had some left what I realized when I sold something to a fence. Nice, fast, easy money.

I agree, it's great when you're exploiting it. But I don't understand these pointless, QQ threads about implementing fixes in these manners. Now, you have to go back to being a proper thief the way it was meant to be in the first place.

I get reliable legerdemain income from pickpocketing and lockboxes, one nerf isn't a complete collapse of the system.

If that's the argument you want to make, Zenimax could easily have nerfed the locations that have nobody within detect range - Bangkorai's back alley, Firebrand keep. I fail to see how sneaking into a shop and stealing a merchants goods from under his nose makes someone an "improper" thief.

It's moreover the fact that it was being exploited to make more gold than intended. Period.

To which I will again refer you to the simple math of 140x72(value of two handers at V14) = 10k

"hey guys is 10k a day too much?"

So either, someone asked that question and the answer was no or nobody ever asked that question. Which means in scenario 1 - it was intended or scenario 2 - Zenimax is frighteningly incompetent.

ZoS doesn't want anyone doing anything other than playing their quest lines over and over and over again. This is why they always 'nerf' anything outside of the long, tedious quest grinds. They're not selling a game anymore, they're basically selling a 'choose your own adventure' book.

If you read the patch notes, you'll notice that the dwemer motif grinding was nerfed to. Neither nerf really affects me, but I am bothered that ZoS keeps nerfing innocuous activities that don't really affect other players. If a player wants to focus on maximizing their income for a period of time, or if a player wants to work on maximizing their XP gain for a period of time, ZoS just brings down the nerf hammer. There's no reason for it, other than to appease a small segment of self entitled players who can't stand that someone might have something they don't. ZoS just seems to be purposely removing any rationale for most people to play.
