Hmm... for me its been 1 year and still have not played PvP. In my perspective all of the PvP content is new.

Well, the problem in my opinion is: They simply cannot fix the lag without rebuilding base mechanisms from scratch.
When I read their last posts that even adding more hardware won't solve the problem, it's very clear for me that their software is the bottleneck here. Whatever part of it may be the main reason there but I highly doubt it is anywhere near an "easy fix" for lag so I'd expect further attempts on solving the issue by adding other goals to Cyrodiil to spread out players until they may take the time to rebuild the problem-causing-part of their software... if ever.
Sorry but I already gave up on ZOS to ever fix the lag problems in a satisfactioning way without destroying the key part of Cyrodiil itself: big ass battles.

As much as I'd love to see Imperial City..
PvP is a sandbox. The players ARE the content.
That said, they need to fix the lag and performance issues... as well as some of the exploits like the 90% mitigation "builds".

I agree... but eh, consider that we're a good 12 months in now, not including the closed and open beta testing, Cyrodiil is a mess, the lag and poor performance is killing it for me, and the lag and performance got worse with every patch. But at the same time, also the huge lack of PvP content.
Lets face it, they can't fix the lag, they just can't. At the moment I'm very disappointed and I'm reaching a stage now where I'd rather have content over performance (as they've been trying to improve Cyrodiil performance but every attempt made it worse so it's pointless).
To be honest I don't care if they abandon Cyrodiil as long as we can have battlegrounds or other objectives, ZOS just give up on Cyrodiil, its fkd anyway so best just to milk PvP dry in this game and just move on when other MMOs or some other games come out.
That video they showed us at Quakecon is really interesting, but it'll probably never arrive, lets face it even the imperial city is still months away. It's a joke.
I know I am repeating myself and I also know that you are gonna hate me for this but: If you want to play arena, battelground and the other usual CTF sauce nearly every MMO out there has to offer: Go there, play what you want but please do not try to make ESO a PvP game just like every other MMO is today.
ESO's strength in PvP is its rather unique Alliance War. The possibility to participate in huge battles over various points of interest within a really huge landscape. No other MMO is able to offer this at the moment, no, not even GW2 as Cyrodiil is way bigger than any of the seperated maps in GW2.
THAT's what makes many of us wanna PvP in ESO and all the whining and complaining aside, ESO is the first MMO to achieve something that's worth being described as "big ass battles" since Dark Age of Camelot.
So they better improve this unique gameplay feature called Alliance War before they try to move us over to the usual, limited, streamlined and mainstream MMO-PvP most of us aren't even here for.
Of course there are many guys out there still liking these cage fights called arena and such but I highly doubt this will add anything for most PvP players in ESO as I assume most of us want to get more dev attention moved towards Cyrodiil and not to another construction site called "instanced battleground x VS x" ***.
The truly sad thing is that ZOS already built an arena.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMzrkRluWbU&oref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DHMzrkRluWbU&has_verified=1
TBH IMO, although I cant wait for new content for PvP. I personally think they should actually sort the lag out on PvP before releasing content for PvP, I mean, slightly unrelated, but even Dice who done the battlefield games sorted their games (which were always horrendous at release), after a year.
Its been a year Zenimax, great game, a lot about the game I love, especially stamina builds finally being viable, but come on please, sort lag out on PvP, its not the clients issue on all cases, maybe some I will admit, but the problem is with the server, and it needs sorting, and fast.
I would rather play on PvP, relatively lag free, so that is sorted, before they release new content, which always invariably comes with its own bugs and performance issues, adding on to what we already endure.
Just my IMO.

That stuff is actually the stuff they had been working on, but didn't include because of the rushed launch date. They then slowly release different pics of this "new" Stuff to keep the now declining population hooked.
Once the population drops to a certain point, they decide to go buy to play to boost numbers slightly, and also add a cash shop that they had been sitting on the entire time, but say they just made it up. ( it's obvious, because it's the only freaking thing in the game that works flawlessly)
After a few months the native base gets roused again by the release of new cash shop merchandise, but no new content, because now all that "new" Stuff is being held back until six months latter to be released coinciding with the console version of the game releasing.
Now. Durring those six months, Nothing will be released, except "limited edition" cash shop items, that will only tax the patience of the natives to the point that the original player base begin to leave in frustration. This is when the next massive P. R. campaign ( around the time of E3, for convenience) will release more epic footage of the "new" (now over a year old) stuff, just about ready to launch and the hype over even greater additions (spell crafting/housing?) starts the entire process over. But in reality, the promised material isn't realesd for another six months. So in all, we won't see anything until around Christmas. So bunker down guys, and keep on buying that cash shop stuff, so they know it's OK to string us along.
I didn't mention pvp because it doesn't matter to them and will probably be taken out once Cyrodil is made into just another pve land surrounding the Imperial city, which will be released soon. (soon equaling Christmas 2015 or latter)
I can't wait to look at this post next year at this time and see I was wrong, but look at the track record so far.
