And adding more stability when 3 factions fighting each other, FPS cries. I dont know if they can achieve that but %80 drop in frame rate is no good.

    Agreed, it is horrendous.

TBH IMO, although I cant wait for new content for PvP. I personally think they should actually sort the lag out on PvP before releasing content for PvP, I mean, slightly unrelated, but even Dice who done the battlefield games sorted their games (which were always horrendous at release), after a year.

Its been a year Zenimax, great game, a lot about the game I love, especially stamina builds finally being viable, but come on please, sort lag out on PvP, its not the clients issue on all cases, maybe some I will admit, but the problem is with the server, and it needs sorting, and fast.

I would rather play on PvP, relatively lag free, so that is sorted, before they release new content, which always invariably comes with its own bugs and performance issues, adding on to what we already endure.

    Just my IMO.

Well, the problem in my opinion is: They simply cannot fix the lag without rebuilding base mechanisms from scratch.

When I read their last posts that even adding more hardware won't solve the problem, it's very clear for me that their software is the bottleneck here. Whatever part of it may be the main reason there but I highly doubt it is anywhere near an "easy fix" for lag so I'd expect further attempts on solving the issue by adding other goals to Cyrodiil to spread out players until they may take the time to rebuild the problem-causing-part of their software... if ever.

Sorry but I already gave up on ZOS to ever fix the lag problems in a satisfactioning way without destroying the key part of Cyrodiil itself: big ass battles.

Aye agreed, well tbh I think they really need to go over the coding for PvP and completely overhaul the aspects that deal with latency.

A lot of players may confuse latency with fps lag, if its fps lag, then its your problem, its not zenis fault or their server, but the fault that is theirs, that being the latency from even walking around, never mind full scale battles, needs to be addressed.

And I have a great gaming rig and net, and can play on american servers on battlefield 4, with a full scale battle going on with negligible lag, and the action is way more intense than on PvP, different technologies granted, but the principle is the same.

Game engine needs optimised, and for ESO, the coding that deals with PvP needs to be rebuilt and tested.

The end justifies the means in this case, I would not mind if there was some downtime, or Cyro locked out for a while, till the problem is solved, and we finally get what we were promised in the beginning.

But agree with ya Legederic, its their software/coding that is at fault here.

I agree to this. Sadly I don't think they will ever do such an overhaul.

    My opinion (or speculation):
When they announced their "lagfree, epic pvp battles" they had quite a lot of calculations done by the client, which was heavily abused by gold farmers and botters (Underground/flying bots, speed hacks etc).
As they got rid of the bots and introduced some "client-checks" to the server they also introduced the lag to pvp. Now they can't provide those lagfree battles without further reducing pop caps.
On the other hand i guess that cyrodiil on consoles will be quite lag free as no client checks needed.

As I'm one of those which actually like "cagefights" like they showed on the quakecon last year (How was it called? I seem to remember Collovian Crossing?) i think it would be real beneficial to have such an alternative for those who like it, but only opened during primetime (maybe 21:00-00:00) with NO AP handed to players and maybe once a week a letter with loot like on campaing end

    But since they stated
    angry-no.jpg

    I'm discurraged in this direction.

Yet you're still preaching no arena? The whole reason most want an arena is a temporary solution to AvA. I know I'd rather AvA in Cyrodiil if performance was acceptable, but it's not and hasn't been for over a year now. We've given them a chance, now it's time to give us a temporary band-aid for our problem.

For those of you saying the client checks are an issue to the lag, sure that's possible. But why not an anti-hacking platform (e.g. Punkbuster) if that's the case? It's been over a year and they have no contingency plan.

I agree... but eh, consider that we're a good 12 months in now, not including the closed and open beta testing, Cyrodiil is a mess, the lag and poor performance is killing it for me, and the lag and performance got worse with every patch. But at the same time, also the huge lack of PvP content.

Lets face it, they can't fix the lag, they just can't. At the moment I'm very disappointed and I'm reaching a stage now where I'd rather have content over performance (as they've been trying to improve Cyrodiil performance but every attempt made it worse so it's pointless).

To be honest I don't care if they abandon Cyrodiil as long as we can have battlegrounds or other objectives, ZOS just give up on Cyrodiil, its fkd anyway so best just to milk PvP dry in this game and just move on when other MMOs or some other games come out.

That video they showed us at Quakecon is really interesting, but it'll probably never arrive, lets face it even the imperial city is still months away. It's a joke.

What other games have a nice pvp system, besides Guild Wars 2 and World of Warccraft ( and its clones ) ?
Star Wars The Old Rebuplic is not bad but requires payment to be able to PvP more than 5 times a week, which is a joke.

I know I am repeating myself and I also know that you are gonna hate me for this but: If you want to play arena, battelground and the other usual CTF sauce nearly every MMO out there has to offer: Go there, play what you want but please do not try to make ESO a PvP game just like every other MMO is today.

ESO's strength in PvP is its rather unique Alliance War. The possibility to participate in huge battles over various points of interest within a really huge landscape. No other MMO is able to offer this at the moment, no, not even GW2 as Cyrodiil is way bigger than any of the seperated maps in GW2.

THAT's what makes many of us wanna PvP in ESO and all the whining and complaining aside, ESO is the first MMO to achieve something that's worth being described as "big ass battles" since Dark Age of Camelot.

So they better improve this unique gameplay feature called Alliance War before they try to move us over to the usual, limited, streamlined and mainstream MMO-PvP most of us aren't even here for.

Of course there are many guys out there still liking these cage fights called arena and such but I highly doubt this will add anything for most PvP players in ESO as I assume most of us want to get more dev attention moved towards Cyrodiil and not to another construction site called "instanced battleground x VS x" ***.

Why is everyone constantly repeating what the previous guy said, 'we should solve lag before anything new is added, we should solve lag...' x100 over and again. Do you not know that we are lagging out for the last year and more? In betas we had 30+ second delays too, did you guys forget that? The only thing that we managed to somehow survive so far was the awful fps killer patch, but even that took a month or so to 'fix' or better say, improve.

I'm all for fixing Cyrodiil's performance but I don't want to wait another 2 years before that happens. Give us new pvp content and battle modes now. We want perfect pvp action. If instanced pvp is the way to go, then do it. I don't care about AvAvA under these conditions. When lag and awful performance is actually fixed, I certainly will. It's beyond me how some people can't understand that it's not going to happen over night...

They fell prey to modern gaming practices of releasing an unfinished, unpolished product to the public. They then charge a subscription to play the product and when the players yell it's unfinished and needs work, the company shows them shinny pretty "new" Stuff.
That stuff is actually the stuff they had been working on, but didn't include because of the rushed launch date. They then slowly release different pics of this "new" Stuff to keep the now declining population hooked.
Once the population drops to a certain point, they decide to go buy to play to boost numbers slightly, and also add a cash shop that they had been sitting on the entire time, but say they just made it up. ( it's obvious, because it's the only freaking thing in the game that works flawlessly)
After a few months the native base gets roused again by the release of new cash shop merchandise, but no new content, because now all that "new" Stuff is being held back until six months latter to be released coinciding with the console version of the game releasing.
Now. Durring those six months, Nothing will be released, except "limited edition" cash shop items, that will only tax the patience of the natives to the point that the original player base begin to leave in frustration. This is when the next massive P. R. campaign ( around the time of E3, for convenience) will release more epic footage of the "new" (now over a year old) stuff, just about ready to launch and the hype over even greater additions (spell crafting/housing?) starts the entire process over. But in reality, the promised material isn't realesd for another six months. So in all, we won't see anything until around Christmas. So bunker down guys, and keep on buying that cash shop stuff, so they know it's OK to string us along.

I didn't mention pvp because it doesn't matter to them and will probably be taken out once Cyrodil is made into just another pve land surrounding the Imperial city, which will be released soon. (soon equaling Christmas 2015 or latter)

I can't wait to look at this post next year at this time and see I was wrong, but look at the track record so far.

    you are correct.

If ZOS would have kept the game shelved UNTIL IT WAS READY, it would have fared a lot better.

even I am starting to get frustrated. I have already had enough of PvP, and PvP was the reason i got the game to begin with:( Now I do PvE content when ever I play, wanting to go play PvP, but knowing that the only campaign I would have fun in is blackwater blade, which only lasts until VR1, and will put me severely behind in the CP race if its the only campaign I play in.

and now ZOS will not fix anything or release new content until after console release. we all know they will take a month or two to sort out all the bugs on console, so, in reality, it won't be until September+ that fixes and new content arrive.

I do not know if this game can survive that long in the state it is currently in.

its a shame to, because this game had SO MUCH POTENTIAL. an elder scrolls game online?? sounds awesome!!! but instead it was a slightly above average MMO.... :(

I cannot stand the PvE, and that's what makes it worse for me in particular. As I previously mentioned, i bought this game for the PvP; yet PvP has been almost completely ignored for PvEs sake. PvP is no longer fun to play. There is NO balance, NO strategy involved(resource management???? HA!) it has been infested with crippling lag for 9 months now, and exploits and crap like spawn camping have been ignored with excuses such as "its a grey area" well, then this game is a grey area to me:/

I suppose I will have to just keep on trudging along and see how much longer I can take it. Perhaps I will swallow my pride and go play in blackwater blade for awhile. idk:(

    /sigh

oh ZOS.... such a wasted opprotunity
