So they announced the arrival of a limited-time offer through the in-game announcement system, so what? It's not spam.

There's a good deal of players that don't haunt the official forums or a regular basis and don't even visit the official website often enough to know when maintenance is happening much less when a new mount that's only going to be available for a short time is going to pop up.

    Get over it.

They should just advertise their goods during the loading screens ;)

Now I would be ok with that if you do not pay a subscription... sometime the loading take enough time for you to read the sentence at the bottom a few time. :)

Subs should not be receiving in-game cross-screen ads. It boggles my mind that ZOS thinks this is ok. Congrats on keeping this thread open.

The game is buy 2 play, believe it or not, that is a big difference. You lose due to inaccuracies.

ZOS is certainly treating it like it is free to play, so my guess is that most of the players are, too.

You make me think about it... wonder if there is a way to see who is paying the membership? Funny though we have so much less bots if not almost none at all than when it was P2P. :)

    You know what that means?

That means this game is dead . lol . No gold seller = dead game . Sad but true

    Now...

If they had a big system message that said,

"Imperial City Launching in 3 days, get ready". I bet people would cheer.

The problem with this was both in Message and Delivery.

It is spam. Even WoW have never done anything this cheesy and desperate. I've been paying for a sub loyally since early access and I don't want to see ads while I'm playing in Tamriel.

There is literally nothing I want in the CS. I was saving my crowns for content dlc (costumes, mounts and pets are not content). The 10% xp boost means jack squat to me when I think of the grind to VR14 for my alts. I would buy xp pots, though.

I was wondering why I should stay subbed. This in-game ad made the decision for me.

I hope this is not the beginning of the end.

and let this be a lesson learned to all you peeps that refused to play due to the sub fee, THIS is the alternative.

mark my words it will only get worse if we, as a community, do not put a stop to it now.

I prefer to see a message once in a while (cause honestly it really once in a while, never seen them spam it...not like every seller spamming in zone chat ...) rather than ZOS getting no money and shutting the game.
The game just went free and people still find a way to cry cause they are trying to get some money out of their product...

By the way I don't see why having a subscription should exempt people from this. We are not paying for being ads free, but to support the game and get some bonuses out of it.

If they start spamming it, yes there is a problem, but now I don't see anything near spam so no need to shout fire when you can't even see a tiny flame.

We are paying to enjoy the game more and by definition advert on internet are quite polluting our daily basis we do not need them to start being also in our game time. When your chat is fill with load of text in different language to tell you to go spend money while playing it's not only annoying but also intruding. Advert have no place in the story, in the game or in the chat that is the main way of communication with others. If spam about selling gold and anything else in-game is illegal why would it be legal for the company itself to try to use this technic. By going f2p they are already making more money with the crown store than they did in a month but it also does not mean they can start doing the most annoying and intrusive act of marketing and pollute the very game itself.

What are the benefits of ESO Plus membership?
ESO Plus offers members exclusive in-game bonuses, a reoccurring allotment of crowns and access to all downloadable content (DLC) game packs for the duration of membership:

    30-day Membership:

1500 crowns at the start of each 30-day membership period
Access to all downloadable content for the duration of membership
Exclusive character progression bonuses for the duration of membership
10% bonus to experience point gain
    10% bonus to crafting research
10% bonus to crafting inspiration gain
    10% bonus to gold acquisition.

I don't see written that we get to enjoy the game more than others. I'm just seeing that we get more bonuses than players who don't play.
But I guess if you pay for a service nowadays people think they can impose anything they want.

What I see is, a rare message on the screen vs everyone got to pay 15 bucks/month. Yes the message is quite flashy, but it's 15s on my game time, and it's not even everyday I see this.

I know everyone got different priorities, but this is really a small detail not game breaking at all.
I feel more pollution from people spam-selling their stuff in zone chat than by this ad.

Yep, big fail on ZoS' part... I said something about this in another post about advertising but basically if we are ESO Plus subscribers we shouldn't be getting advertised to unless its like "National Pet Day come to Mournhould for the festivities" followed by an actual fair with tents and popcorn and cotton candy!

    And Cheese!

To copy what I just wrote in one of the similar threads:

To the few of you saying you have no problem or telling us to get over it, you are missing one important thing.

It has only just gone the cash shop route and they are testing the water as to what they can get away with.

Based on many of our experiences in other games that have gone this route, it starts off with the odd thing and very quickly gets worse and worse.

I personally have no problem IF (and it's a big if) it's an occasional message once in a blue moon, but it wont be, if no one complained, they would simply presume people are happy to put up with them and put more and more blatant advertising in.

Better people raise their voices now than it become something like Lotro has sadly become.

    100 percent agree
