Subscription + Spam in-game to purchase more?

Dear Zenimax,

I understand that you went "F2P" not long ago and as every business you want to make some money somewhere with such an investment but spamming us with in-game system message to buy this or that quickly before its gone from the crown store EVEN WITH a subscription this is ridiculous. Usually to my knowledge when you pay a subscription it's to get the most of your product which include not to be spam or get any advertising.

OaakdQt.jpg

I am already paying you every month something like any other not "F2P" "MMORPG" and I know that your leopard is for a limited time (Funny how it does not fit the philosophy of a "Unlimited Tamriel") but guess what? I can't buy it I am already giving you my money! How about making these "business" tactic to those who does not pay a subscription and give us "subscriber" the free advert-spam in-game and no time limit for these crown items?

It seem you are focusing more on releasing as much as you can in the crown store (which you probably make more than you were before with just subscription) than caring for your customers who secure you a in-come every month.

Thank you for reading (I hope)

Pieryv SilverWolf

PS: Most people who subscribe like me probably also buy more in crown-store after already paying you monthly.

ZOS is certainly treating it like it is free to play, so my guess is that most of the players are, too.

You make me think about it... wonder if there is a way to see who is paying the membership? Funny though we have so much less bots if not almost none at all than when it was P2P. :)

I do not think they want to go there it would be a very "desperate" move. Beside, ESOPlus give you 10% more xp in about everything you do.

If they don't want to lose my subscription and friend they might want to consider to accept our rights as a customer to express ourselves both positively and negatively when it comes to that. It's not a threat post or a troll one, neither a rage post. I am paying as many others to play a game not be thrown with advert and stressful one before its out of the market. By definition a game is something that you do for the pleasure not for work as a customer we shouldn't have to deal with this especially if we pay per month for it. Sometimes even a business must know what are the customers limit when you even intrude their pleasure in-game in hope to make them lose that very pleasure of gaming or "rping" just for a few more bucks... Imagine yourself in a rp and this spam your screen or even making a video of the game... What a mood breaker.

So they announced the arrival of a limited-time offer through the in-game announcement system, so what? It's not spam.

There's a good deal of players that don't haunt the official forums or a regular basis and don't even visit the official website often enough to know when maintenance is happening much less when a new mount that's only going to be available for a short time is going to pop up.

    Get over it.

You do realize as soon as you click to start the game where it patch you can see all these advert before clicking the play button? One does not need to go on the forum or anywhere else to know all the news and stuff coming out on the crown store other that the client patcher which you have to open to start the game... Can't miss it!

I tend to agree. The pet day thing was cringe-worthy, but there are times when a system message like this is helpful for those unaware of a new item or limited time item, or even some sort of sale/new bundle. As a loyal subscriber from day one(and paid up until September) I have no problems with a system message when it's potentially insightful for many players.

This is the system chat and thus it cannot be turned off. It is used by Zenimax to spread a message or ... now advertising across the whole server.

Actually I must excuse you but I take the time to see what's new in the launcher and I'm sure as an adult many also does to. There is a reason they created a launcher before clicking play... to read the news (and to patch). I am happy to see it there and all other info that make me want to read more on the web site even but not in my game especially as a subscriber. Not everyone rush and want to get in so quick and get to the end of a game so quick that they end missing a great % of the work and effort that was put into this. It is important to understand here that it is not just about you or me... but us... and as a whole like you we have a point of view which make me come to your sentence "good deal of players that don't haunt the official forums" and "Except many players bypass the launcher completely aside from patch days. I know I do." which make me wonder why do you take so much time to post more than a reply if you do not mind or "get over it"?

I am happy for you if you are good with it and pay a subscription and if your RP is not disturb by these message and if you are ok to see more but I made this post to make my point as a customer who do not enjoy this new "way" they are going into when I was totally fine before with a P2Play.

Thank you for your insight about the subject though you are misleading the topic which is the whole "pay and have advertising" and this post was create in hope they could think of a better way to make everyone happy and my example was to disable these for subscriber for example. Do you have any good ideas that could illuminate the subject maybe? If not then I would appreciate that you move on to another post to disagree, thank you.

To copy what I just wrote in one of the similar threads:

To the few of you saying you have no problem or telling us to get over it, you are missing one important thing.

It has only just gone the cash shop route and they are testing the water as to what they can get away with.

Based on many of our experiences in other games that have gone this route, it starts off with the odd thing and very quickly gets worse and worse.

I personally have no problem IF (and it's a big if) it's an occasional message once in a blue moon, but it wont be, if no one complained, they would simply presume people are happy to put up with them and put more and more blatant advertising in.

Better people raise their voices now than it become something like Lotro has sadly become.

Amen, this is exactly why I am making this post. To point that in hope they can make a compromise between 2 things... the free players which I totally respect and the one who pay to keep this game going free for them and new contain for us because this game is awesome in it's own way and would be even better if removing gold spam, bots and such since the beta would not be trade for the company own in-game spam and who knows they can come up next... ? They have work hard to remove this kind of pollution within the game... why now add it yourself?

You do realise most people have 100% sensory recall ..but the brain filters out anything it considers unimportant ?
ZOS idea of slapping people round the face with a wet fish approach really isn't necessary if people are the least bit interested to begin with.
I am just waiting for the machine gun RNG method of spam marketing every direction you look...SOON[tm]

All they need to do is make it easily noticeable as part of typical behaviour (ie a gentle reminder on startup screens for those that actually do want to buy but have the memory of a goldfish)...not invasive/aggressive marketing techniques in the middle of a fight.

I will make one exception though...they make a towncrier NPC with ZOS t-shirt and jeans who [says] stuff in game and runs around everywhere and is flagged for PVP. People can then show their response to said immersion breaking invasion in a most appropriate manner...several 100 AoE and ultis to lag the server. I know pvp travel time could be an issue so perhaps stick him/her on a dragon or something ;)
