Shared Mount Stats

I have 3 v14 characters with plenty of champ points to spread among my lower level characters. I think it's a bit unfair to be able to spread CP about but not share mount stats between characters, is there any future plans to implement this?

They're not mount stats any more, though, they are now riding skill, which is an attribute of your character.

I have to agree with the OP.

This game currently feels like it punishes any attempt at creating new alts. Sharing your mount stats account wide is a small thing to give imo.

There is no reason to make every alt spend 6 months to level up their own mount. None whatsoever.

With the sheer amount of achievements, and just general leg work needed in this game for leveling, shards, dungeons, dolmens, lore books, etc ... we have to worry about when creating new alts. Clicking a button once a day for the next 6 months is just an added irritation at this point.

I honestly see no downside, or anything negative about making mount stats account wide. I can most definitely think of multiple benefits though. I recently just made my first real alt (ie: not a mule, but one I'm actually leveling) just yesterday and I can say without a doubt that not having my leveled mount seriously made me consider why I was leveling this alt when I started =)

My first time through, I did everything, and I mean everything.

My 2nd time through, I'd prefer it to be a little faster. It's not that I'm not going to enjoy it any less, only differently.

    Cheers.

I get that it's not fun for you to do things "again".

For me, I really like having one character that took riding lessons (for quite a while) prior to actually toggling a mount (had one purchased on the account, but in my play of her, she didn't own one).

My first time through, I leveled crafting along the way, never did writs (well mostly they didn't exist).

I like the fact that the game grows, and each "time through" is a little different.

One thing to keep in mind, you really only need two of the stats to have a useful horse, so it's really only 4 months to max out a horse. Although, I will say , that at L37 in Stamina, I have a hard time even seeing the Stamina Bar drop on my horse that is L58 in speed/L60 in bags. Before you call bunk, I was upgrading 3 horses at once prior to 1.6 so that is why my stats are where they are now, on one character.

L30 in speed is really fast enough for anything outside of trials and PvP, and, well, how many bag spaces do you really need on an Alt? Sure, it's nice to have a bunch, but really, how many do you need right now on that Alt? So, really 30 to 50 days to have a horse that is useful and gets you places quickly. After that, you just buffing something that is not going to have a huge impact outside of PvP or Trials. And, if that is your goal, then upgrade speed first, then the others.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

People won't be happy until they able to create a new toon, with all the stats and skills upgraded to match their most leveled toon. Then they will complain how there is nothing to do.

What I did was plan ahead... I created mules and named/designed them to something I actually like. As I currently use them for storing stuff.. I upgrade their bags and horse. When I finally decide to play one, it should be maxed.. or darn close.

The Sum of all training spent per player should have applied to each characters training instead of the higher in any one training on any one horse.

Don't worry, I'm sure a mega riding skill booster pack will show up in the crown store eventually, since it would save you time and thus be considered a convenience item.

I like having different characters that have different skill levels including riding skill and consider the training to be a part of each character's individual development. I can see how others might get impatient with it though.

If your characters actually shared a horse - and you still fed the horse I might agree (so your horse had the skill)

But why would a low level character with no horse riding experience have the riding skill of a max level character?

With the CP I used on my low level toon, I was able to easily, very easily, do the pve content. IDK I'd think that something that doesn't affect a character's damage and abilities, like horse skills, would have been able to be spread out amoung characters as well.

To a certain extent I agree with you. I understand the reasoning behind the 20 hour timer on increasing riding stats - like the hireling email they want to give you an incentive to keep logging in every day.

Having said that, once you've already maxed it out on one character, it feels really frustrating to be forced to grind that out, day after day, on any new character that you create later. Personally, prior to 1.6 my main had a maxed out speed horse, and a maxed out pack horse, while my second-most used character had a maxed out speed horse. My other alts had no horse upgrades - just the basic Imperial horse. When I heard about the upcoming changes to mounts with 1.6, I made sure everyone had 3 horses, each named for the type of food I'd be feeding them, and I fed all 3 horses on each character every day in preparation. Now my main and my secondary both have fully maxed riding skills, but I'm still working on leveling the riding skills on my 6 other alts (I actually have an additional 8 alts on another account, but I don't play them as much as the 8 characters on my main account, so I didn't bother with any upgrades for them), and it does feel like a grind.

Rather than flat-out sharing riding skills across all characters on your account, though, what if they changed it so that it was faster to upgrade them once you have a skill maxed out on a different character? So once you've got a character with 60 in one skill, maybe any other characters on your account can upgrade that particular riding skill 5 points at a time. Now, because you put in the 60 days of time to max out that skill on one character, any subsequent characters can level that skill in 12 days instead. It would still remain a gold sink (no change in the cost), and it would still encourage you to log in every day for a while, but it would no longer feel so discouraging. With a system like this, it'd be almost as if your other character, who is an expert, is giving your subsequent characters riding lessons.

I'm easily able to blow through the pve because of CP, if anything I'd think that would be giving me less to do rather than horse riding skills.

Something like this would be the best compromise. Even if we could just give it 3 feedings a day in the category we maxed, it would help. Keep the gold cost the same, but let us level our horses.

Because, if you think a L1 Speed Horse is slow the first time you ride it, try riding one after riding a horse that is L40 to L60 in speed. I once even slapped the butt of my horse on the screen to make him go faster. It did not work.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

They do actually all share the horses.....you buy one and everyone gets to use it.

The player is who is uniquely learning how to ride independent of another character but if they are sharing some account skills and mounts why is no one teaching the other?

The argument can go either way.....I just want all my training per character applied :-)

Proposal: share the stats upon reaching level 50. There is a certain logic to the fact that you are beyond level 50 (most probably) before you max out one stat.

Slow horse can't run by enemies that well without getting you thrown. Fast horse can't carry as much. The old feeling of "you have to make a decision on what you need most" is one of the valuable lessons to learn what with limited skillslots, limited resources, etc.

Currently, there is too much acceleration going on, which will mean that some of these valuable lessons will be lost. I would suggest to take a step back and wait on how things play out before too many possibilities to "skip to ready for endgame" are given.

Yes, riding skills may be a little away from the endgame skills (at least outside of PvP), but still - too much too quick right now.

You know why they won't make it account wide, because there's enough people who buy the upgrades from crown store to make it profitable, this is a main reason if not the biggest, we like to think these games are for our entertainment, and to some degree they are, but they are still a business and those things need to generate profit to work.

Can't say I blame them either, it makes sense and hopefully the more money they make the more time they spend fixing bugs, hopefully.

    AS reminder....

Before you had to buy different mounts for different purposes on each of your characters and feed them every day.
Now you can train your character in 3 different riding skills at once that will be applied on ALL your mounts. If you are lazy or in a hurry you can even buy riding lessons.

So seriously? You want to simplify the system even more? You may be want the possibility to buy a premade character aswell cause leveling an Alt is too boring? You know, with instant Vet14, 300 champion points, and Aetherian Archive gear in your bags?

I think the game need some incentive to be played, and if you find this soooo annoying, just don't do it. ESO is a game it's supposed to have fun. If you don't have fun leveling your riding skills, take a break and do your dishes instead.
Instant gratification is NOT good for a game. Looks at what World of Warcraft has become. WOW players beg for Vanilla servers.

Thanks, but now that there are riding lessons in the Crown Store (there weren't when this thread was active pre-necro) it seems highly unlikely that anything like this would ever be implemented. Of course, by now all 8 of my characters on my main account have had fully maxed-out riding skills for some time, so it doesn't affect me personally the way it did when I first wrote up that proposal, but I still feel like it would have been a good idea.
