Arrows: Make them an item?

This has probably been discussed before, but quite frankly I don't care. People come and go on the forum and some change their minds. So here is a fresh discussion.

Personally I think it would add immersion to the game to "force" archers to count their arrows and craft/loot em off bodies. It could add several potential passives for the champion system too, like chance to retrieve used arrows on dead enemies.

It would also add potential for an arrow marked for different types of arrows?

Do you think this would be a good idea?

I kept the poll simple.

I played WoW when it had arrows, and it was nothing but a pain in the butt. I don't think it's a good idea because it seems like something far too easy to implement badly.

Long story short: WoW raids were much more time-consuming and had trash respawn to deal with. Nefarian was the final boss in one of the earlier raids, something which meant you spent an evening or two (there were raid IDs) fighting through trash already. Let's just say the group chat was definitely not PG-13 at that point.

Good idea, but that is more of single player thing, on here, what is the point?

On the TES games, archery, with the help of some mods are realistic, there is nothing realistic using a bow on ESO, lol I mean, every arrow is an aimbot, they curve to your targets, which really annoyed me when game released.

    You can dodge the homing arrows though:}

    No, just NO!

They're nothing but a PITA in games that have them (which thank God aren't numerous these days), I see nothing positive to say about them (or any other one-off projectiles like bullets, darts, shurikens, etc.).

Or..fire/light oils like LOTRO, could even be made from existing plants, specific arrows aren't the only answer.

but technically isn't that what the flame enchant is?

I could go either way on this. Maybe make limited arrows that do a buffed bit of damage, otherwise you just use normal arrows when you're out.

I'd scream, rage and howl if they were to take away arrows from Ultima Online or ammunition from Eve Online.

This is game is MMO-light, though, and here I'd do all those unpleasant things were they added.

main reason why we shouldn't have arrows. This would further unbalanced the game. Instead with destro sticks all DK would run around shooting flaming arrow :)

If you make them into an item then they will have to make the bow OPed because it's the only weapon that you have to use time, money, and materials to make it work on a daily basis. No other weapon requires this so the bow should not be on par but superior to every other weapon because of this added sink. Since this will have everyone crying, then no, arrows should not be an item and leave bows on par with every other weapon.

Perhaps we should add sanding stones to the game that has to be crafted so everyone that uses a sword will have to take time in the day to craft sanding stones in order to resharpen their swords? Each sanding stone you pass by it only sharpens it by 1 percent, so if you went out in a killing spree and your sword sharpness is at 30, then you better be ready to buy/craft 70 stones and click sharpen 70 times on your weapon. All of a sudden it doesn't sound like a good idea does it? Good luck with that.

Arrow management in Skyrim was a chore. Can't even imagine what it would be like in this game. I have watched videos of PvP where I see players standing on top of a keep spamming arrows into the crowd below (as they should). Thinking about what would happen if they ran out and had to re-supply?

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

And have mages find scrolls to cast spells? No, not in an MMO it would not be fair in PvP.

Yep, well, folks keep talking up that realism on the sexy armor topic.

Yeah, but that argument has about as much to do with realism as it has to do with armor.

I vote yes, but don't want an arrow limit, just different type of arrows that you slot next to the bow; for example, if would be cool to be able to use negative potions on an arrow to defined that arrow's type and maybe enchantments. It would also be cool to be able to craft arrows of different types like way armor is crafted in the game:

Light arrows - extreme range, fast, but gives light damage.
Medium arrows - a balance between light and heavy arrows.
Heavy arrows - short range, slow, but gives heavy damage.

But, I don't want a limit on the number of arrows! PERIOD!

This. Make it a slot for poisons, adding elemental or poison damage/effects, etc. Arrows themselves are unlimited, but they serve to enhance/modify Bow abilities.

MMOS can't work like offline games with arrows and such.

They would need to up the damage for bow skills if they start tying it into consumables has well, which makes even more problems over all would cause more problems then solve or be ecol enough to do

I voted yes but now that i think about it, No, its a bad idea IMO. I remember when i played FFXIV when it was first released. Archer had arrow and it was a pain in the butt. It took inventory space, always had to upgrade to better arrows, when you have no arrow left your forced to go to town, cost gold etc..

The only way i would accept having arrows, is if it was a piece of equipment for offhand and was unlimited, that would be great. For exemple; quivers in diablo 3.

You are so right, this is exactly what would happen!

Seems adding this feature would unnecessarily over-complicate combat and force devs to spend a lot of their time "balancing" for yet one more factor. And somehow, some way, it would be blamed for causing more lag.

I don't think we need any of that.
