I'm gonna be straight here, but it wouldn't matter if someone showed up to give reassurance on this issue as the same people gave lots of plans and reassurances the last year and didn't follow through - it's a business with different people ultimately calling the shots than the guys actually running the game. They can tell us what they want and hope and think and plan for, but won't be able to reassure anything as different people will make decisions on the game as console rolls out - be it well or not so well. Seems like they've put a lot of work in on the console version though and hopefully we'll see that at least the PC side getting shafted a bit in content was for something worthwhile and the game will do well enough.

As a PC and console player who has slowely drifted away from PC games over the last decade and more and more into consoles, I'm pretty damn excited about ESO coming to consoles.

I don't have the money, time, nor the desire anymore to maintain a top of the line gaming rig and fight with each game as it comes out to eck out good quality gaming. It stopped being a hobby in my early 20's, and has more or less become work now that I've got so much else on my plate.

With a console I have one VOIP with a reasonable expectation of everyone having mic's. Messaging and grouping is a breeze. Talking with friends who are playing other games is also quite simple. Game setup is straightforward, and I don't worry much about keybinds, settings files, .inf files, dowload states, version updates, etc, etc.

The ONLY reason I still use my PC is for one game type ... MMO's. I guess RTS would also be there, if I didn't still prefer Age of Empires to anything else. I can play that on my wife's laptop. No top end gaming rig needed. But between the Farcry's and the Grand Theft Auto's, the Halo's and the little platformer arcade games ... consoles do what I want.

Neverwinter works beautifully on console, and looks good too. Only problem with that game is the problem of the developers themselves ... being a cash-in-and-pull-out company that only does once a year updates. Still won't stop me playing. And it looks and runs a ton better than it does on my home rig.

ESO? I'm expecting more. Larger, more vibrant, less cartoony world. Yes, I want more content. YES, I want housing. Yes, I want new lands to explore and it to be easy to group with friends and more armor styles and new spells, etc, etc. But I think in the desert that is the console market of MMO's, ESO is going to be a hit.

All they really need to do is make a separate forum, one more actively moderated, to help keep some of the bitterness that the PC vets bring away from the new customers.
Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

    XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

The question is, who would really play an ES game on a console, especially as an MMO?

For me consoles work well with party games such as Mario Party or sports games like Fifa, but strategy or RPG and then as an MMO where you need the ability to chat and use a mouse?

I just don't see how someone is supposed to play these games with a controller, but this is a topic I also never understood with D3. It feels so clunky and weird, but the same I always said about shooters and Halo has proven me wrong there, as it for whatever reason seems to work for todays console heroes.

So even if you and I @Wraithazraiel feel that consoles are weird to play such games on, I am sure ZOS wouldn't release ESO on them if the market wouldn't be there. I guess for minors playing on a console is much better and cheaper, but also for those who are not very technical with PCs. After all, you only put the DVD in and start playing - I always enjoyed that at Fifa & co or with TR as a child.

What doesn't work for us, can work for others ;)

However, I want to point out one thing. To make games on consoles is much easier for a programmer than for PC´s, so at least from this perspective games will run much smoother on PS4 and Xbox than on PC and due this, making games for consoles is cheaper for a company in the long run.
Consoles have built in party chat. This means when I invite random players while questing and doing dungeons and so forth everyone can talk instantly. No needing teamspeak and all that. Communication and strategy is superior on console, I would even say immersion is better as well. I have been playing ESO on PC but in my opinion Elder scrolls games are console games in purist form.

Some of the millions of players who already played Skyrim on the console for example.
Or some of the thousands of players who already play other MMOs on their console, might they be DCUO, FF or Neverwinter.

As you already stated, ZOS knows about the potential of consoles, otherwise they wouldn't have done it.

I'm in two minds about it. While I agree the "because Skyrim did" rational is not the best, other MMOs have actually done quite well on console - FFXIV and recently Neverwinter. I reckon it could go either way, and the tipping point will be other factors, such as the list NewBlacksmurf wrote above.

DC Universe Online (DCUO) has done really good on consoles too. Over 75% of its player base are console players. Here's an article on it:
