Burning Talons - Animation changed or bugged in 2.0.5?

    Are you seeing this post 2.0.5? If so, do you also have an add-on installed that eats error messages? (Specifically, the ones the UI puts in the upper right hand corner? The addon "No, Thank you" does this for instance). If you can't mount at any time (there are several conditions that can prevent mounting, such as really uneven ground, being in the water swimming, etc) a message should appear in the upper right corner.

    Are you encountering a situation where you can't mount at all, or do you shuffle a few feet and mounting works fine? Are you having issues dismounting?

    No special add ons. Only started yesterday after the patch. Doesn't happen everytime or in any predictable way. No additonal special msgs that I noticed.

    Hey while I have your ear. What about the bug that started after 1.6 where when you get nailed by talons and that stupid bubble thing and suddenly you are speedy gonzalaz all over the place? It seems the speed you gain from this bug has increased so its harder to control. The speed wears off as soon as the bubble and talons go away...

    I noticed this last night on my DK. I also noticed that about 50% of the time my Mage Light does not appear. It's applying it's buff per my character sheet, but cannot be seen visually. I do not know if others can see it. I also get the mount issue many times in Cyrodiil.

    To give you all an update on the Talons issue, we are currently working on a fix and hope to get it in for the next incremental patch (unfortunately due to the actual issue, it cannot easily be hotfixed).

    Oops, pressed Post too soon! Also wanted to confirm that the ability is doing the correct amount of damage, but it's just the visual effects that aren't displaying.

    I know you guys want to hotfix the ability pretty bad :( Thanks in bunches for asking the devs how hard it would be to do so.

    Going through Hel Ra Citadel I was trying to use Choking Talons and noticed not only the visuals weren't working, but the snarish grab effect wasn't as well. Literally the only thing working on the ability was the damage, synergy, and possibly the debuf.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno I posted on the forum about this today:

    "I've noticed that choking talons is not working for me. When I use it, it seems to start the animation where the ground seems to break up underneath targets, but it never actually deploys. I thought at first that it might just be that the enemies I was attacking couldn't be immobolized but I have tried it on numerous different enemies in the northern part of Grahtwood (wolves, werewolves, blood-fiends,poachers). Has anyone else experienced anything like this with Choking Talons or has any thoughts as to a fix or explanation?? Thanks in advance"

    In mine, I see the start of the animation (ground rumbling) but I don't see the talons and it doesn't actually root the enemies. I'll check again to make sure of this, but some enemies definitely ran away. Thanks for the help!

    I use Burning Talons a lot. It is almost always the first skill I execute when I get up close and personal with mobs. Prior to yesterday's patch, I would apply Burning Talons, the talons would appear on screen and the mobs would run off to some location 20m or more away with the talons visibly attached to the mob for the entire journey. This was obviously a bug.

    Yesterday when I applied Burning Talons, not once did the mobs run away from me. All of them remained rooted in place as they should have been. However, apart from an occasional flame flicker, there was no visible animation on screen which displayed the actual talons. So, someone fixed the problem with the root not working; but in the process, the actual talons animation was sacrificed. Evidently fixing a broken skill is a tough job if the code is that sensitive.

    I'm the same, it's one of my primary abilities, and have noticed mobs running around while rooted as well. I always thought it was just a timing issue, though, rather than a bug. Like if Talons are applied just a split second too late before the mob initiates a dodge or starts a movement path, then they would move even though they appear to be rooted. I could be wrong... maybe it is a bug. Would be nice to see a mod comment on that.

    Burning Talons has pretty much always been a part of my rotation, and since 2.x (or maybe even 1.6) I noticed that it became totally useless. Whereas before, I could root a whole mob, even spellcasters and archers, after 1.6/2.x, spellcasters and archers would start moving away from me, 20 feet or so, with the talons effect on them. So frustrating, as it basically rendered the skill useless, as it only worked on melee enemies (and even then, if they had the "thrown knife" skill - the one that causes snare - they would also be able to back away and use it while Burning Talons was in effect).

    I finally resorted to repurchasing the Chains ability so I'd be able to pull them back rather than chase them down, which, unfortunately, would use up Magicka, and still wasn't a good alternative when you were facing a mob of ranged enemies - they'd all retreat 20 feet away in separate directions!

    However, it sounds like, from what LonePirate said, that this has been fixed with this past update, and may be the cause of the visual issue. I hope it's truly been fixed and now works as it did before; otherwise, it's really a useless skill if ranged enemies are no longer affected by the root.

    Yes can confirm not just visual, but also does not provide the CC @ZOS_GinaBruno the enemies just run away freely. Yes damage is applied however.
