Less from the helped and more from writs and from the world (aka refining raw matts). Part of this change was due to so many low level characters with max crafting for the helpers. A welcome chsnge.gold matts are just as easy to get as they were in 1.5.

It's been my experience that refining materials has yielded only marginally higher returns.
Even assuming that were true, it was not the right thing to do, passing judgement on people that chose to maximize hirelings instead of farm nodes all day.

Passing judgement on people? Seriously? You have the opportunity to level up those characters and do the writs in craglorn. I obtain about as many goods from writs as I used to get from hirelings. Plus I still get them from hirelings.
Leveling up a character through 50 is simple, easy and fast. Enjoy and be rewarded at the same time.
WIN, WIN!

What does it mean if someone wants to spend more cash then their own time? I know it's looked at as pay to win but I see it also as more funds to keep this game running. If someone who makes more money then sense wants to pay for mats to create things I see no problem.

That is not accurate. I crafted several thousand raw materials (between blacksmith, clothing and wood) between gold drops recently (all are totally maxed out skills and skill points). On average, since around Christmas many people have noticed a drop. I refine 1-2k per week and average a gold about every two weeks. The drop rate is ridiculously low and compared to where it was. You are forced to do the writs not just refine, which is bull crap. I don't mind refining what I gather as I adventure but some of us don't have the time to do "special" tasks everyday. Sure, increase the drop rate for those who do them but why penalize those who don't really have the free time to pursue that aspect by nerfing the other methods of acquisition. I don't even understand the whole purpose of the hireling anymore, either. Really its just turned into a stupid investment of skill points since I cannot even remember the last time I saw a gold mat from them.
Personally I am a patient person so in the long run its not the hugest deal to me, but it you are trying to claim the drop rates are the same from refining you are just flat our wrong or delusional or simply the lucky one because everyone I talk to in game concurs the drop rates are horrible.

P2W is for the weak and unbalanced the game. Crestivity of convenience items for the store will make more $ in the long run. Of course the weak will argue otherwise.
