Gold Tempers in the Crown Store?

Do you think that the Hireling Drop Rate Nerf was intentionally designed to make Gold Tempers scarcer, so that they could eventually be sold in the Crown Store?

It's been my experience that I get like 1 gold temper a week, from 4x8 hirelings, whereas previously I was getting one per day, at least. I'm now running low on Gold Tempers, and in light of yesterday's changes, I can't help but wonder if this was intentional to make them scarce for the Crown Store.

I do not want them in the Crown store, but the financial analysts are calling the shots and I am sure the developers do not care either way.

Yea, I rather buy all the things than actually earning them.

Actually, no. I think it was to balance out the increased reward for the crafting writs.

Gold matts are not scarcer. I get plenty of them. They just changed the means to get them. Less from the helped and more from writs and from the world (aka refining raw matts). Part of this change was due to so many low level characters with max crafting for the helpers. A welcome chsnge.gold matts are just as easy to get as they were in 1.5.

It's been my experience that refining materials has yielded only marginally higher returns.

Even assuming that were true, it was not the right thing to do, passing judgement on people that chose to maximize hirelings instead of farm nodes all day.

As soon as I heard I had the same thought...even though they specifically said they would not reduce something just to sell it on the crown store. Lets hope it was a coincidence.

I prefer the old way. The crafting writs are a pain compared to the consumable writs.

I feel like the timing of the changes was intentional.

Can you imagine the outrage if the Hireling Drop Rate was nerfed in the same patch where the Gold Tempers hit the Crown Store? I feel like the separation was intentional.

Passing judgement on people? Seriously? You have the opportunity to level up those characters and do the writs in craglorn. I obtain about as many goods from writs as I used to get from hirelings. Plus I still get them from hirelings.

Leveling up a character through 50 is simple, easy and fast. Enjoy and be rewarded at the same time.

    WIN, WIN!

You are forced to do crafting writs and farm nodes to get Gold Tempers and you consider that an "opportunity?"

What does it mean if someone wants to spend more cash then their own time? I know it's looked at as pay to win but I see it also as more funds to keep this game running. If someone who makes more money then sense wants to pay for mats to create things I see no problem.

That is not accurate. I crafted several thousand raw materials (between blacksmith, clothing and wood) between gold drops recently (all are totally maxed out skills and skill points). On average, since around Christmas many people have noticed a drop. I refine 1-2k per week and average a gold about every two weeks. The drop rate is ridiculously low and compared to where it was. You are forced to do the writs not just refine, which is bull crap. I don't mind refining what I gather as I adventure but some of us don't have the time to do "special" tasks everyday. Sure, increase the drop rate for those who do them but why penalize those who don't really have the free time to pursue that aspect by nerfing the other methods of acquisition. I don't even understand the whole purpose of the hireling anymore, either. Really its just turned into a stupid investment of skill points since I cannot even remember the last time I saw a gold mat from them.

Personally I am a patient person so in the long run its not the hugest deal to me, but it you are trying to claim the drop rates are the same from refining you are just flat our wrong or delusional or simply the lucky one because everyone I talk to in game concurs the drop rates are horrible.

P2W is for the weak and unbalanced the game. Crestivity of convenience items for the store will make more $ in the long run. Of course the weak will argue otherwise.

Granted, I don't refine much but get plenty of gold matts from doing the quick writs and still get some from hirelings.

The better way to encourage using high level characters for hirelings would have been a formula where the chance to get gold matts incressed based on how high a level the character was. A vet 14 character would have a much higher chance that a lvl 40 character and a level 10 character would rarely get a gold mat.

Still, works fine for me as it is since I still get plenty of gold matts.

The weak? LOL, I was thinking the rich but....you know, everyone's time has a different value. I'm not going to purchase much but if big spenders want to help this game out without holding me back I don't see an issue.

As long as big spenders are not blocking content for regular users I don't give a ***. Right now for example, some stuff is available for groups or PVPers but not for PVE solo users. This is a problem. I hope they will solve it soon with Murkmire or some other DLC. I don't mind to pay for that as long as it will be solo. Ideally, it would be great to have unique sets similar to what group/pvp has and perhaps some unique motifs, but this is kinda secondary.

I can confirm the raw mats yield gold drops in a rate comparable to their nerfed status they had before patch 1.6. I got about 1 gold drop every 150-200 raw mats before and I get that much now.
