Martial Knowledge vr14 drop rate stealth nerfed

So..I've been farming this set for weeks, since before 1.6. every night get at least 2-3 pieces, no problems. Since 1.6.6...nothing now for two nights running, probably 12 hours farming chests in Cyro delves...not one drop, but a suspiciously increased amount of Fire set drops. I would hazard that Way of the Air has also been nerfed as that drop rate also felt very light. Got 4 pieces in that time.

Anyone else? I mean, it could be the RNG gods messing with me, but it doesn't feel like it.

it's the RNG, I know of people getting many every day.

Try changing campaign or leaving the cave? ^^

"It is just RNG" comments are comming (translate to human language means - Yes, we did stealth nerfed it).

Or translating to "We understand that 'random' means 'random'."

They may have lowered the drop rate. But odds are you're just having bad luck.

Also consider the fact that loot tables in this game are bound to each place and are not well managed (or at least didn't use to be). In order to refresh a loot table you're supposed to get out of the instance, wait a certain amount of time for them to be refreshed (batch task much?) then reenter the instance.

okay interesting thoughts. I would like to know if anyone else is farming for these and having a similar experience though. Might try changing instance, but I have been in and out quite a few times for full bags etc. over the past few days, so I doubt that is it.

I am having the same problem. I found them the first couple days of farming and cannot complete my set now. I am not getting any more of these drops. Even though everyone else in the group was still getting them.

Yeah, it was stealth nerfed.

ZOS has already openly admitted to stealth nerfing the drop rates of highly sought-after items (Warlock set anyone?). This should come as no surprise to anyone.

For being "stealth nerfed" there's been a suspiciously large amount of these on guild stores. When they were rare in the beginning I paid 60k ea. for fear they stopped dropping. Now that I've got a few extra pieces to sell they are down to 20k ea. I can only hope for a nerf just to get back lost gold.

That's because people have refined their farming strats down to a science now that the set is actually in demand. The drop rate was in all likelihood decreased but the sheer number of new farmers has flooded the market.

I am sure there is a secret code that detects which set you are farming for so it never drops for you, thus making you play the game for longer .....

I've heard a theory that there may actually be code in place to automatically reduce drop rates based on guild trader prices or some other metric but I have a much easier time believing that ZOS manually nerfs them, as they have been known to do in the past.

I'd beg to differ. I was out for an hour or so doing Cyrodiil dolmens for Cold seige and ended up with 3 V12 Martial Knowledge pieces and one V14 piece, without any intention to farm it. There's certainly a much higher drop rate for this set from Dolmens. If I were gunning for it, that's certainly where I'd be farming for it.

P.S. if you need a V14 martial knowledge head piece I'm willing to sell

I agree that Dolmen seem to have a higher drop rate, but the VR14 pieces can only drop from the chest at the end, so you are getting less than six tries per hour at a piece and take it from someone who has farmed Cyrodiil dolmen for many hours since 1.6: the average drop rate is a lot less than 1/6.

LOL! That's my theory, too!

That's why my alchemist always goes to Upper Craglorn to look for nirnroot for the writ and grabs every other resource node in her way. It's how I find kuta and nirncrux stones.

Well, not only do the chest drop martial knowledge but they drop Cyrodiil maps. The chest that you get from following the map also have a high drop rate of MK set pieces.
