ESO does need more content yes. They dont need to spend another year trying to code and figure out to remove vet ranks. Siply put vet ranks are here to stay. So like them or quit. They arent going to revamp the game yet again. Take all those console people and tell them they are removing the ranks they just earned. Nerf them all back to lvl 50 because some pvp guy doesnt feel like leveling his characters.

Give me a break. They dont need to remove vet ranks. I know that was the plan but the plan has changed. Now the plan is to code new content for people to play instead of yet another revamp trying to please these pvp epople who will never be happy regardless of what they do. I swear they should just remove pvp and this game would take off. Instead they want to constantly revamp the core systems over and over while introducing absolutely no content since craglorn.

New content for VR1-14 would be a solution but it would be half-hearted.

VR thing IS an issue and as it is now it cannot be kept.

Content is one issue, ESO is lacking content in every aspect, but there is another problem with the whole approach of VR leveling. It could be less worse when you had alternatives to level from VR1-14 and aren't forced to go to the opposing factions, but they are an issue that's important to adress.
"Steam Spy is still in alpha, so expect major bugs."

One bug might be that they cannot count number of owners. Yesterday, ESO had more owners than it does today.

    Owners: 121,630 ± 17,231

Before this thread gets locked, I just want to say that ESO is losing owners rapidly.

    Owners: 114,555 ± 14,414

I would keep an eye over your shoulder. I know I am. They could be coming for me at any time.

We are 3 weeks after B2P launch, it was quite obvious that they will lose many players after 2 or more weeks due to a) returners are disappointed again, b) missing content and c) the game still has severe issues.

Since you didn't understand the joke, I'll have to explain it. Steam Spy is kinda wonky. It's estimating the number of sales for a title through some statistical sampling. This data is inherently unreliable. Which is why there's a 12% margin of error there.

What Steam spy reports is that, since it's release on Steam last year, fewer people have bought The Elder Scrolls Online as of today than had bought it (again, since it's release) as of yesterday.

That said, the margin of error went down, from 14% to 12%, so that suggests they're collecting more data and zeroing in on the real numbers. But... at the same time, this is about the number of owned copies, not the number of players.

But, yes, all it's saying is people who bought the game since launch have disappeared from the universe and no longer exist. Because the margin for error is hilariously high. And then Lordrichter made a joke. And you came back and went, "lolz, is sign of end times."

    Naivete, perhaps?

Also, I could be wrong, but I think the 5 million statistic was people who signed up to receive beta keys, not the actual number of participants. (It might have been the number of keys issued, though, again, not all of those were used. I just don't remember.)

Well to be fair lots of people liked it while it was free but either didnt have the money or were not willing to pay to play. I know alot of people who jump from beta to beta never staying after launch or when it comes time to pony up some cash.

To be fair, lots of people will play utter pay to win garbage if it's free. And, unfortunately, the proliferation of F2P in the industry has lead to an expectation from a lot of consumers that if they want to play an MMO they should just wait until it's free. So, when you say, "hey, we're doing a beta," they'll pop on, screw around, and then wander off and say, "yeah, it's cool, but I'm not spending money on it because it'll be free this time next year." They're not being selfish, per say, but it's what the industry has primed them to expect.

Well in this case those who waited in my opinion are far better off. I kinda wish I had waited now. Hey I got a tiger mount tho.

    But, hey, tiger mount.

I've ended up with a weird perspective on MMOs, and, so it certainly might not mesh with what you're expecting. You pay for the game that exists right now. You can't pay for the game that might exist five years from now, or existed at launch. It's not like a single player game, where you're buying a game, as it existed when the developers pushed it gold... or as of the last patch five years ago.

And, to an extent with the industry as a whole, you're paying based on if a game is worth the money right now, because it will be cheaper further down the line.

So, aside from a 1 month break last June, I've been here since launch. I can't say that money was wasted, and not just because of the cat mount.

No, the last paragraph was all in first person. I'm not quite so deranged as to actually think I speak for you.

So you quoted me then in the next sentence said "you're expecting" but I was to assume you werent talking about me but yourself. Hmm confusing but I think I get it lol.

Yeah, I have a bad habit of using the second person as an indefinite in forum posts. Sort of a, "whosoever has the misfortune of reading this" as opposed to, "hey Steve!"

ESO wasn't available for purchase on Steam at launch iirc.

Edit: unless you meant the ESO TU launch.

I was talking about the release of ESO on Steam, which was during last year's QuakeCon.

In the end it doesn't matter. You can keep your eyes closed from the obvious truth or just realize that ESO is in decrease - again.
