Error 209 PatchManifestError Started After Mondays Update (4/6/15) Ticket: 150407-000417

There is another thread about this problem that just started with Mondays update. Linking the thread here since this is the proper forum for the issues.

Started with Monday's patch. I've never had this problem. The error box doesn't pop up every time I use the launcher so I have to believe it's some issue on their side. I found the 209 instructions on the support page, did three repairs, deleted the three files they suggested, did another repair, rebooted the machine several times as instructed, verified my virus software was not the issue, always run as admin so that wasn't a problem and still it pops up like once every 4-5 times of using the launcher. Sure I can use the eso.exe directly but the launcher has to work properly for updates so I still need to figure out what is going on.

I can still play the game. Just that stupid box keeps popping up making me repair constantly.

    I've been getting this as well. It doesn't prevent me from playing though. I just ignore it.

    Don't repair, close launcher and Delete game.version file.

    Did that as it was part of the files I had to delete per the support article. Still getting it.

    I started getting that error last night as well. I close both the error and the launcher and then it comes back with "Play". Sometimes I have to close them both a couple of times to get it to work but I have yet to do a repair.

    Would you be able to forward this information on to Mr. Leeper please? This error message pops up for no reason at random times and can be bypassed with ease. If the game really needed a repair we wouldn't be able to bypass it. Maybe it's time for a Launcher over haul.

    I've been getting it since monday also. First time it popped up I repaired, I am able to play now but it still pops up.

    Since Monday's patch I also am getting this error randomly. As another said I just close both the error window and the launcher application and then the Launcher comes back with "Play".

    So I just got a reply. The listed some things to try and asked for a consultants report.

    I attached a consultants report to the ticket this morning.

    I have tried every single thing listed in the response from CS already as I STATED in my ticket this morning. Also they sent me directions on how to add my usersettings.txt file since it was missing. What in my ticket about my launcher issues made them think my usersettings.txt file was missing? I also was provided links on how to fix the 210 error which I am NOT having among other useless links.

    DO THEY EVEN READ THE TICKETS BEFORE THEY RESPOND? So frustrating!!!!!!!! So I replied that they already have a consultants report and please take the time to READ the ticket this time because I HAVE tried everything you just copied/pasted to me in this ticket!

    Add another player getting this as well. Before Mondays patch I never gotten this error. So it is either a launcher error or one of the files in the patch is badly written to cause the error

    I too keep getting this error! I did everything they suggested on-line! I even went so far as to completely uninstall the game and reinstall it but I still get the error! It's completely frustrating as every time it pops up I have to go through the repair process again! They really need to re-examine that latest patch and fix this problem! Not a "happy camper"! :/

    Yup, this has been happening to me since the patch too. Repair doesn't work, and neither do any of the things in the support article. Closing the launcher and re-opening it usually works (sometimes takes a couple of tries), as does launching the game directly from the exe. Bottom line: something in the update (must be related to connectivity between the launcher and the servers that detect the game version) screwed up the launcher so it doesn't work properly anymore. Could be client side in the patch files downloaded, but my guess is it's server side, as I don't recall the launcher itself being patched, just the game files.

    I've tried everything listed in the KB articles and on the forums. Obviously something went wrong with this patch. I've found two other threads of players with the same issues since Monday.

    This has been happening to me for months, not just since Monday......

    All I do is close the Launcher and re-open it, as others have said it sometimes needs to be closed and re-opened a couple of times but it has always then worked fine with the play button returning.

    Sometimes I get it as I exit the game too, on the occasions when I have forgotten to close the Launcher.

    Also I can go for weeks without seeing the error at all, yet another ESO Anomaly. :)

    Got another reply. They want me to try other video drivers. Please what does this have to do with the launcher and and the error 209 that states a compatibility issue with game versions?

    Also reinstall the launcher and game. Been there, done that problem still exists.

    I am a programmer and have spent many years in CS for technical and program issues. Let's look at what error 209 is saying:

    Error 209 - PatchManifestError_Version Fail
    Unable to determine current version.
    Is my game the correct version? Yes I have verified my game IS the correct version after Mondays update.

    This could be from a recent update if your game patched before all our servers are done updating. If you recently updated, please wait a few minutes.
    There was an update on Monday. I NEVER had this error until after I downloaded the patch.

    If this error persists more than an hour, please contact customer support.
    I did not contact CS immediately. I went to the Support Forum and searched for the error. This is the article I found anf followed every step.

    Now lets just go out on a limb here and think about this random error that happens with the launcher. I can open the launcher and see the error. I close the launcher and open it again with no issues and can play. I have removed files, reinstalled the launcher AND game and STILL get the error.

    So COULD IT BE POSSIBLE that ONE or MORE of the game servers did NOT update properly and that is why this error is so random? When the player only sees this error randomly and can easily by pass the error by closing the launcher and opening it again, it would lead ANY programmer to believe that the problem is on the server side of things and there is a server OR servers that did not update properly.

    Below are screen shots of the launcher network connections if it works properly and when it gives the 209 error. Maybe someone at ZOS CS can look at this and see where the issues are.

    I'm betting it has something to do with the slide show that is now in the launcher.

    That's exactly why I think it's server-side. Of course, if a server address changed and it hasn't propagated that could cause this error when the launcher tries to connect to that server.

    Also have this issue (and only started with Patch 2.0.4-never before); will hope that closing/restarting the launcher will work for now. DEFINITELY NOT re-downloading game. Maybe next patch will sort it.

    Just received another reply. They told me to disable one of my monitors as that could be the issue. Also to allow it in Windows Defender which I do NOT use! I swear does anyone there read these tickets!!!!!

    I asked for my ticket to be escalated to a top level support person that can hopefully read the ticket, review my consultants report, understand that I have tried every single KB article suggestion ZOS offers as well as any tricks found on the forum, reinstalled everything and yet I still have this issue. My monitor, ports, usersettings.txt file, graphics driver and connection are NOT the problem here.

    I'm having this issue as well, just tried the repair tool and I am still getting this issue. However, just after the repair finishes and it validates perfectly fine, it takes about 10 minutes and then the error pops back up again even after it said it was fine. I have no idea what's going on here. I can see they really just don't care about this game. If I waited more than an hour to get back with a report of a problem on the helpdesk I work at I'd get fired... :(

    Without touching the launcher it now says "Play" instead of "Repair." What in the world is going on...?

    Yep that is what it does sometimes. One time it demands a repair, one time it says repair and then all of the sudden you get play and the other times you just get play....

    Yea, I've tried logging into the website to ask for support, but I'm getting blocked by a code supposedly being sent to my email however it never arrives, so I tried logging into the game and it's doing the same thing. This is the only computer I play from so I think my account was hacked. :(
