Dungeon lag fest, screenshot says it all

tried to do darkshade caverns gold daily just now.

This happend:

ping between 160 and 500. But it felt like 1000000 ping....

Boss didn't move for 30 secs, just stood there letting us attack him, then I floated around for about 30 seconds, warped back and forth. Sometimes I got into a state where I could not use spells or attack at all, then all of a sudden I was dead.

Happend to all of us at the exact same time. We had done silver fungal grotto minutes before and it didn't lag at all.

Unplayable, group dispanded.

This has to get fixed asap

Edit: I want to add that I've also crashed to desktop 5 times a day since tamriel unlimited.

You should try cyrodiil sometime. Hits upwards of 5k ping

Darkshade seems to be especially F'd.

I also crash to desktop about that many times a day (completely random).

And am getting very similar latency to that at certain times of day (only seeing slowdown on ESO, other apps/programs operating perfectly normally)

Got a realllllllllly bad run in darkshade today. Btw i've recorded since it was even our 1rst guild run with the new members and i will push it on yt tonight so even zos can enjoy his game from our prespective!

I've played computer games since the 90s and on 32kbps modem connection, I've never seen worse lag then I encountered in darkshade caverns today.

Half my PvE guild couldn't complete daily gold Darkshade Caverns today...so yeah megaserver clearly kaput.

It's the same type of lag you get in large scale PvP, where skills wont go of, enemies takes no dmg, you take no dmg.

Since they haven't been able to figure out what's causing it in Cyrodiil, I expect a lot of unfinished dungeons in the nearby future

I managed to complete it and i am in Australia, the lag seems to dissipate the further in the dungeon you get, and worse at the start

Had a wipe in Darkshade too because of the lag. Was never as bad as 30 seconds, but my team and I experienced lag spikes of 5+ seconds, which at the last boss, with the boss itself and the spheres, left us all dead on the ground.

I don't think it's a latency issue. When I get these, my ping (as reported in-game) can be below 100ms. The server seems to be hanging for some reason, and only updates after it's done with whatever it's doing.

In TERA we had actual server-side lag that was actually visible to players... it usually happened when all the portal / nexuses showed up, and you would notice it straight away. Basically what happened was, since the server itself was the one lagging, monsters couldn't keep up with the character clients, causing enemies to be killed without them fighting back. It was truly hilarious and devastating and useful for low leveled characters.

The good thing about any Veteran dungeon these days is: After entering the instance you just have to heal yourselves constantly for about five to seven minutes. After that the lagg will carry you unharmed through the dungeon.

Yep we had the same problem tonight, same boss too. Apparently it's a known issue since 1.6 landed, totally unplayable. Take this dungeon out of the pledges table until it can be fixed please.

This happens to me all the time since update 6, too. Especially the CTDs are great in the middle of a fight to only find my character dead after logging back in.

And yeah, I crash about as often as you do, too, if not more. Didn't happen before update 6 (also that the game froze that often, not even once in a month or two, now about once in 1 or 2 days).

I remember update 3, at that time the game had the best performance (maybe 1 crash a week, if at all), and the ping was within a pretty normal range.

Ping doesn't seem to be the total picture here. From Munich I can get pings in the 20s to the EU server but usually around 60, Performance is dreadful. My ping to the NA server are 120 or so to 170 but the performance is better. I get these weird Deja Vu flashes in Cyrodiil on both.

Remember when the game launched and folks would say they got Wal-Marted? Rolled back? It was like we were all drunks, losing time in blackouts. But that's not this.

In the old days, the modem days that some of you refer to, that's when the lesson was learned that bandwidth wasn't the issue. Ping time wasn't the issue. Variance was the issue. If I know that it will always take even one second (that was a good ping time at one time) to exchange packets with you then rather straightforward interpolation code can put in place. But if it varies and varies a lot....well....that's something that could drive Heisenberg nuts.

Something else has gone awry here. And I reckon it's keeping lots of folks up these days.

@bellanca6561n It's a bit different here then; from Würzburg/Germany to the NA server, the ping (when normal) is around 100. The game tends to freeze when it exceeds 300. Maybe I really should try the EU server, wouldn't hurt, I guess (some of my friends on NA are now offline most of the time anyways).

We were fighting a mob when the game froze for 3 seconds, after the freeze it started exactly where it left off as if it had been paused. The entire group experienced this so it was not individual latency

Here is a quote from another page that shows a video link to a Darkshade run from last week. These are the kinds of things that people are experiencing every day in the game now. At 1:50 into the video they run right up to the boss/mob group who doesn't acknowledge the group for several seconds before they start to fight.

Char name: Eystein Blodsbringar Note: I did not experience this before TU, and it has become much worse the last few weeks.

Realm: EU

Location: Darkshade Caverns doing gold pledge (dungeon was veteran mode) Note: I do get massive lag spikes elsewhere too..

Exact time: 20:30:06 CEST

What was I doing: Trying to do the dungeon. Group dispanded when doing the Hive lord because of intense lag. 10-20 seconds delay and warping.

Extra info: Did a re-run of the same dungeon 15-30 minutes later. It lagged from beginning till the end. In the middle of the dungeon I had less lag then elsewhere, only a 5-6 second delay or something. The final boss felt totally unplayable. At least 10-20 seconds delay and both me and my mates warped all over the room. The chat did NOT lag. I wrote to my teammates, the text instantly went to chat when i pressed enter, and I got immediate response from my mates.

Skills fired with a delay of several seconds, no immediate outcome of skill activation could be seen. Ultimates could be released twice in a row without depleting Ultimate points. Red telegraphs from mobs appeared out of nowhere, group members dying to one-shots, despite not being in a red telegraph. Then suddenly the fight "fast forwards" in Speedy Gonzalo mode, the outcome being mobs or own group very dead. When attacking bosses, the situation seems to relax a bit although not entirely. Basically we did the bosses with a DPS meter and a stopwatch.

I dno. Maybe it's even related. Maybe it's easier for them to get a grip of what's going on when they got exact locations. PvP is too dynamic in every way, and probably hard to reproduce 300 man lag for testing purposes compared to 4 man dungeon lag.

just random thoughts from me.

I'd love to see them sort it all out, I play both PvP and PVE

You guys got attention from Paul Sage.... didn't you get the memo on PVP that says you have to get SMALLER groups as they can't fix the PVP lag.
