Why are cats still not killable?

It makes no sense. We can kill monkeys in the game, and as of update 1.6 we can cook them and eat them. Yet cats, which are less intelligent and less social, are somehow immune to the fate of all other small animals in the game. Monkeys give us white meat, isn't cat the other white meat?

    Cats are delicious! Also, we can kill actual people in game, so why are pets off limits.

    i have cats irl.

    they are cute and fluffy and i would never take a joke about eating them.

    but for game purposes the only reason i dont kill cats or dogs is because like all Domestics they are unkillable to appease the crazy and easily offended types who cant differentiate between fantasy and reality.

    i probably would kill the dogs in game at least.. some of them are actually pretty memorable.

    I spent a good 20 minutes or so trying to kill a cat yesterday. Apparently in ESO cats are the master race.

    It seems that cats are immortal, which is a bit of pain when your trying to maximize your ingredients. Could kill two birds with one stone, get something to go in the pot and also a new hat which would go well with my Khajiit fur cloak and Argonian skin boots. It's getting a bit chilly on the road.

    Sometimes though small animals get in the way and when I'm fighting and sending off a projectile, it hits the small animal instead of my true target...so annoying. I just want to kill the cats

    Well you apparently can't kill Bantam Guar either, I tried earlier and it wouldn't let me.

    I would say the game tags all "pet" animals as invulnerable to prevent a player's pet from being killed on accident, if not for the fact that monkeys can be killed (iirc they've always been killable).

    I personally wouldn't kill cats (even though they can be extremely annoying with their constant vocalizations), but I don't understand why certain animals are apparently Divines.

    There was a discussion about this here at the forum last year, and judging by what was said there many people have a hard time to get that there is a pretty big difference between a game and reality so killable cats was unthinkable unless one could kill kids too etc. Really wierd discussion.
    I think killable cats would be a nice addition to the game since who wouldnt want to make impressive looking catpelt cloaks or lucky charms/neclaces/rings etc? And provisioning or alchemy: Roasted stuffed cat & Elixir of cats grace etc.

    It's for your own protection. You wouldn't be able to pay off the bounty for such sacrilege.

    I'd rather propose they let us kill all the evil players that want to kill cats and dogs in this game.

    They should also drop red meat, so we can farm them for ingredients. Should be easy to implement, devs can easily pick list of accounts that should become killable from this thread >:)

    By judging the design on dog pets I wouldnt think that. The poor little things looks like they had to endure years of beating and abuse rendering them flea ridden and scared.
