This is the best game from graphics point of view bar none. The rest is like a cartoons wrt ESO. So I am here for long time until better new graphics MMO will come up. Or probably we will see first virtual reality MMO :) Who knows. But Agree with you 100%. The rest MMOs look like junk wrt ESO - graphics is awesome.

Oh oh, I had an Amiga 500 too! Well, it was a family computer, but I used it more than anyone else. It wasn't the first computer I played games on, though, that was a Commodore 64. We were a Commodore/Amiga family until the first generation of Pentiums came out, when I was in high school.

In amongst all the toxic complaint threads, it's nice to see one like this, by someone who just enjoys the game. I'm another oldie, retired now, and this game fills in my alone time wonderfully! I had a break from it for a few months, and came back to it recently - changes such as the justice system and the crafting writs brought me back.

This game beats just sitting, mindlessly mouldering in a chair. :)
RIP Atherton, my beautiful little gentle friend, my Shining Light. I will miss you forever. Without you I am a hollow shell.

I think it's "young," because if an Amiga 500 was your first computer, you do not qualify as old ;)

I agree OP just wish ZoS would have done better at release to now. We have to pray when consoles launch they launch without the problems we had on PC. If it don't we will be saying bye bye to them.

So much beauty in this game and yes the perfect game for RP. :-D

I used to be amazed at the number of people my age (54) playing this game, but not so much anymore after someone did a poll and found out that close to 10% of the people playing are 45 years or older.

I'm 45, earliest gaming experiences were made on the original Atari VCS, later Apple ][e, Atari 5600, Commodore C64 (Brotkasten), and Amstrad/Schneider CPC, before switching to a self-build PC AT in the late 80s (who remembers the N.E.A.T. chipset?). Stayed with the DOS/Windows/Intel posse up until Vista, the Windows ME of its time, was released. Switched to OS X on the Mac in the late 2000s, haven't regretted it since.

ESO is one of the gems out there. It deliberately leaves the trodden tracks of post-WoW MMOs behind, and strives to be its own thing. I'm glad it exists and enjoy it tremendously.

My first computer was a Vic-20 my dad bought me with a tape drive. At the time there were no games available so I bought a book of basic games which would work on the vic and put each line in myself. Saved on a magnetic tape for future use.

I'm a lot older than the OP and had played the Sinclair Spectum and Commodore 64 before I got my Amiga 500, I think I probably had an Atari ST before the Amiga too. I'd have got my first PC about 25 years ago.

I agree entirely with the OP's assessment of the game. I love the graphics, voice-overs, solo and co-operative play and the whole immersive ES elements. I've had no significant performance issues. It's a great game, and has been since launch so far as I'm concerned.

I'm curious about which language you learned first. Did you learn German, Spanish, or Danish first?

I'm only fluent in English, but I enjoy learning other languages. I only know some Castilian Spanish, but I'm still not yet fluent in that.

Made in 1972, started my gaming experience on a friends Atari 800, before getting my very own Amiga (the first one) to really get into it, and have been playing a lot since then, following the tech trend to PC over the times. Not nearly played everything, not played all the time, but still a good selection.

And I agree, ESO is wonderful.
I love the grafics, especially for the realistic-ish feel - no overblown armor or oversized impractical swords here, the characters looks fit the immersion and are not cartoonish like some other games that coudl be mentioned which I always avoided for this very reason.
The voices... well, yes, one can sometimes recognize a voice from one named character in some unimportant NPC... but I guess some allowances must be made. I still find it good enough, even though there are some games who do one better with the player character also being fully voiced - but considering how much that'd boost the gamesize... good enough.
The gameplay... some whine about the limited number of skill slots, but I love that feature, since it makes me concentrate more on the action and not on a huge selection of buttons to click... and with champion system and justice, it has gotten better for me as well.
The story... is really neat, not that I expected anything less from TES settings. Sure, its not quite as free-range as TES games have been known to be, and sure, there could be a lot of improvements made, but this is an MMO, and for that its pretty neat in my opinion.
Singleplayer has lots of questing, and cyrodil was a completely new experience for PvP for me, and a pleasent one despite its often quoted faults.
Alltogether, it is my favorite so far, and I sincirely hope that in fullness of time all the little details that make me think "this could be better" might be improved. Some I have seen going that way already in my time here.
So, count me down for a vote of "great and looking to get better"...
...and for many thankings to the people who brought us this! ;)
