I can see what I'm doing on my phone again. Thankfully I keep my brightness level on my screen way down. But I still prefer the white to the black on black! Thank you zenimax!

We're glad to hear. We're still looking at other changes for mobile, but these will likely take some time.

Out of curiosity, have you ever tried the desktop version on mobiles? Before you do, changing back requires clearing your cookies, so it isn't easy to do (although it will expire after a bit); it also requires holding your phone horizontally instead of vertically. You benefit from all of the current desktop functionality, however.

@ZOS_AlanG can you all add an option to go back to mobile from desktop? Clearing cookies is a pain.

@ZOS_AlanG Uhh, you do realize that there is a link in the very bottom left corner of the "desktop view" on mobiles that says "Back to Mobile View", which actually works? If not, here's the heads up ;)

EDIT: To also give an answer on your question, I use that whenever I want to change profile settings (like signature contents or similar), as that part of the mobile view really sucks unnamed body parts. But even using horizontal view, the desktop view is just bad for mobile phones (that is from a 5" display point of view, may be better on bigger phones). So I'd only go there if I can't do it on mobile view.

Well now I feel silly, thanks. :)

That wasn't there previously, and since I usually stick to the mobile theme so I'm aware of its functionality, I hadn't noticed the addition.

It has actually been there for as long as I can remember, at the very least since the first big forum revamp, but I'm pretty sure it has been there even longer, like last year... Sorry for saying so ;)

Wow. I don't remember that back to mobile link either. What browser and mobile OS do you use. For me running Chrome Beta on Android I see it now but don't remember it there at least late last year. But I am glad it is there.

I agree that desktop is not good on 5in screen.

Android, starting out with 4.1.2 all through 5.0.2 currently. Have always and will always be on Dolphin Browser. I can only recommend that one to everybody on Android.

EDIT: They seem to have changed the text color down there, it used to be "almost black on black", so maybe visibility is the culprit here.

@ZOS_AlanG can we get a recent and Dev tracker views on mobile site?

    @JasonSilverSpring
While the Dev Tracker really doesn't work, you can get the other views by using a bookmark on the respective pages (Thanks Alan for the heads-up). If you have set the phone/tablet to mobile view, clicking these links will bring you to the mobile version of those pages.

As said, the Dev Tracker does not work this way - on mobile you get a 404-error. All others work fine. While this is only a work-around, I understand the limitation on screen estate to put the links is the core issue here and as such will probably not change.

Holy...my notifications blew up while I was at work. lol

In answer to the question AlanG - I have but I'm so used to responsive design at this point (as I work with it daily) that having to navigate via a desktop version that is not optimized on a phone makes me completely crazy. I save anything that requires full functionality for when I'm at a proper computer - and use the phone for idle reading when on the bus to work / home or to reference something when talking to one of my partners over breakfast so I almost never require the full capabilities for those.

A properly responsive design would be appreciated however if you end up headed that way. Though I absolutely understand how temperamental that can be with standard forums.

It's 2015, there are enough things out there optimized for responsiveness, it only took them close to a year to make the mobile version work again

As a web dev this makes me sad since everything is about mobile first the past few year(s)

@Aimelin - oh I agree, but they are primarily a software / gaming company first. The forums are likely not a huge priority and I accept that. The website itself is responsive - just not the tabled forum structure.

That being said - with the changes coming down the pipeline for google search it would be nice if the forums took advantage of the new algorithms and came up properly identified as mobile-friendly (key word friendly) for when searching for answers to things. At the moment they don't - which means they will likely sink after the 21st.

    Here's hoping!

I don't use mobile version. Full site works perfectly fine on both my phone and tablet, as i find mobile version very cluttered and hard to navigate. Just my preference though.
    Sometimes, I dream about...cheese...

Dermont - v16 Pompous Altmer Sorcerer (With a very arrogant face!)
Egonieser - v16 Nord Stamina Dragonborn Wannabe
Endoly - v16 Tiny Redguard Sharpened MaceBlade
Egosalina - v16 Breton Cheesus Beam Specialist
Egowen - v16 Dunmer Whipping Expert (Riding crops eluded her)
(Yes, I had to grind all these to v16)
Akamanakh - lvl 22 Khajiit GankBlade (Inspired by Top Cat)
Targos Icewind - lvl 34 Imperial (Future) Jabplar
    (CP 830+)

    PC - EU

True, but im sure a company like this has someone working on this, or atleast to "maintain" it.

But on the new google mobile friendly approach, their "test" is also kinda meh, makes me think that as soon as they see media queries they assume it's "mobile -friendly-".

My partner agrees with you - however his solution was he never ever views the forums on his phone. We both have 5 inch (Actually given the android versioning listed above like the exact same 5 inch used by Keron ;) since there aren't a lot of phones that have made that leap yet I think it just crossed the 3% mark if I remember correctly) - and the desktop version is an exercise in zoom in zoom out zoom back in that just isn't worth the hassle.
