I chatted a bit in the guild about crafting writs, it got me thinking. Am I really contributing to the war effort? I'm being a new player, so I dont know THAT much. But a guildmate said there are crafting quests like "Craft x amount of bows" and I thought... these should go to soldiers in the frontlines of Cyrodiil, what if it would actually spawn NPC's that helped my teammates over there?
Now this got me really thinking. Dynamic events are awesome, players wanting to contribute to the war is awesome, no matter what role they want to do. I should really feel like I'm helping out, I could become a master craftsman, craft swords and knowing this will ACTUALLY, LITERALLY help in Cyrodiil. Soldiers will spawn, they will fight, they will win. I did this, I helped and contributed to the war effort. I am no soldier, I chose to craft the swords and helped anyway.
This is my thought process. Lets dig even deeper.
First off, make the player feel like he is helping. He should know he is helping, what the player does should have an actual effect in the war. Lets split up a few categories on what players might want to do, and how it would help the war effort. Remember this is just my ideas how to make the war feel even more epic, and more dynamic for the player.
PvE - Crafting. As Said above, I would absolutely love to craft for the writs, knowing I would actually contribute with gear to NPC soldiers in Cyrodiil helping out in the war. They could patrol, scout, defend outposts and keeps. Maybe even have a rare, epic reward for when a player manages to craft something great and it would spawn a miniboss for the enemy. Or a champion in a keep, stuff like that.
Guilds could craft gear for the soldiers in the keep they've captured and are holding to give bonuses. Crafting bows could put archers on the walls, swords would make the infantry better. Stuff like that.
Doing quests in the little towns in Cyrodiil could help out with soldiers too.
PvP - Kill things! Pretty straight forward. (This is mainly focused on what a non-pvper could do to help out in the war)
Outlaws - This is something I had in mind, posted here,
trade/caravan maps. Raid enemy caravans/traders, find the caravan/trader maps to really mess up for the enemy. The equipment enemy players craft could be stolen by outlaws. Taken to your own keep and supply your own men instead. Raid and pillage enemy NPC towns in cyrodiil, kill them and burn their village/towns to cause morale loss within the enemy lines.
Too long, Didnt Read; Make everything a player does have a ACTUAL effect on the war. No matter what the player wants do to.
More suggestions are ofcourse welcome, this is just what I think could be the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the actual war in ESO
