Thieves, Bandits and Caravan/Merchant Trade route Maps

While stealing some stuff I came across a few Caravan and merchant maps. Wouldnt it be cool if the maps actually represented a trade route a trader/marchant would take? Then with these maps a player who decides to be a bandit could go there and rob them. Maybe there could be higher "quality" maps too for harder encounters. Like if the merchant have guards, which would mean you'd have to find more bandits to help you. Or the merchant has contracted players to protect him on the route, if the players successfully defend the merchant they get rewarded. And if not the bandits get lots of loot. Then you could actually sell harder, more quality maps to players who are ready for the challenge.

Thoughts?

There are merchants you can find on the map that can be robbed. They are part of the Crime Pays achievement.

Best thing is to vendor your stuff first *then* rob them. >:)

They should tie these maps in with the vendors from the Crime Pays achievements. Then we have something to do with them besides just sell to the fence. The routes for these vendors should already be planned out so it wouldn't be too hard to connect them. The maps would then drop in the Zones that these vendors are in so you wouldn't get one in Reapers March for a Vendor in Grahtwood. If we had the ability to attack these merchants as part of this, we could setup an ambush, jump out and attack the merchant, once they get to a low point of health they stop fighting and give up all their goods. They could even create a new achievement based on ambushing merchants. Better loot could be determined based on the level of ambush achievement you were on.

That would be pretty cool and add fun element to the game.

    Great idea.

If ESO supported true "Highwayman/ Bandit" gameplay, it would be extremely popular. You could go from simple, one-merchant-and-his-mule muggings up to full-on raids against well-guarded caravans. Cyrodiil could include encounters against mobile wagons carrying the wages of all those NPC troops.

The Justice System is already terrific. Wouldn't it be interesting to see the idea extended, especially as it's pretty rare on the MMO landscape.

Great idea Snit, the caravans in Cryrodil could go from Keep to Keep restocking supplies. There could be PVP achievements based on ambushing these caravans. That would help break up PVP groups also, Paul Sage should like this idea....

Yeah, have the achievement limit it to groups of 4, 8 or 12 and have caravans with patrol numbers based on those. So if you see a patrol with say 10 mobs you have to do that in a group of 4 to complete the achievement. Larger caravans with more mobs for the more player achievements. It would be cool if they had some kind of siege weapon traveling with the caravan for protection. Then players could break out one of their own as well.

Think these kinds of dynamic objectives will make both PVP and PVE a lot more interesting. Some people even suggested Dark Anchors be tied to some Rift-like zone invasion where the Generals would actually play a role as major threat, but that idea sort of died off. Would love to see something like that in the future.

Too add on to that, why not make the Dolmens harder by including more Generals and even Titans in them. That would make it so that every time one popped, everyone would head over there to fight. Double or triple the mobs and Generals on Dolmans in all Vet Zones and include Titans.

Speaking of which, last time I was questing on a section of Cyrodiil that was controlled by DC and there was a Siege Merchant walking from town to town with two Covenant Guards escorting her. She was killable by us, as we were from EP, but I assume that DC players would be able to vendor to her and buy siege.

I had never seen one of those before.

Don't forget that the thieves guild is on the way at some point. So all these ideas could be a part of that *hopes*.

But I like the idea of just becoming a master bandit and these ideas here are great.
