Pardon the language, but it strikes me as super duper silly whenever people blame another faction for the lag. AD zone chat and group comms are definitely inclined toward such berzerker blame fests, and I suppose I should be grateful it's not a mentality that's endemic to our faction!

I think some groups (such as the red guilds on Thornblade who catch most of the flak) have a better handle on what to do during the lag: they opt not to use skills with a cast time, or elaborate ground effects, or detailed animations. They stick to the abilities that will register damage once the server catches up; they make the most advantageous move in a highly disadvantageous situation, which is not the same as cheating, or purposefully creating laggy conditions.

Right now, insofar as we can know anything, we know that certain situations contribute to the lag: situations that call for a large number of players to cluster up in combat against a large number of enemy players, and for those players to use skills that will have an impact against their enemies, such as Meteor. It's insane to go back and forth like: "no, YOU were the ones with all the meteors!" like anyone was yelling over TS for their crew to hit the lag button. People use Meteor because it's a hard hitting AoE ultimate that can be used at range. It's a shame that it seems to be a contributing factor to the lag.

edit: how do you spam an ultimate, anyway?

    Best troll post ever.

I can post screen shots from innocent ep people on this forum claiming certain ep players claim to know how to lag the server and exploit the lag and have recruited and asked people in zone to do it with them.

And yet not a single one of them were in that video. Not sure how that idea even came up, this isnt Thornblade yo.

Don't need to be at the fight to lag the server out genius.

EP is not the problem. Thornblade is not the problem.

Cheaters using exploits in an attempt to gain an advantage is the problem.
The cheaters that used to play for AD have come over to EP to cheat and run the EP reputation through the mud. Sure, they are not the only ones using these exploits but they do take it to the extreme. Why can't ZoS just monitor what is happening in their own damn game and ban the offenders? And if ZoS does come in with the banhammer, it needs to be permanent bans. No more of this "ok, we caught you red handed cheating so here is a measly week long ban." I can think of at least 4 blatant cheaters that still play the game now because their ban was nothing more than a "vacation" as people have come to call it.

Please stop blaming the entire faction for the actions of a few. Because in the graand scale of things, it really is only a small portion of our faction that is so skillless that they actually have to cheat to be good at a video game.....sad when you think about it.

There are various abilities being looked into and abilities which proc off gear as well. Abilities which cause movement changes on other players like knockback, especially AE knockback, are included in this list.

but.. you're just going to fix the problem... not change the abilities.. right?
No worries. It's not up to the AvA team to fix the problem. These are AoE ability issues are caused by AoEs affecting more things in any zone and instance.

With that, the fixes that work will lessen either
    • how many ways AoE abilities affect mobs/players
    • how many mobs/players are affected by those AoEs]
The goal is essentially to make the problem abilities and procs be less impactful to the entire environment but still do the same DPS.

I don´t know what this video is able to proove. In the beginning before the video creator entered combat he had a ping of 368, what caused this we are unable to see because he is outside of the keep. Upon entering his ping got better first to 282 and during the fight including the meteor spam it even lowered to between 230 to 198. After the fight stopped at the end of the video he had a ping of 156. His fps seemed to be relativley stable between 17-20 fps. During the fight we see a number of skills besides meteor, we see dragon knight standards, we see siege equipment, we see the obvious impulse inside the keep etc. This video prooves really nothing special at all.

If you want to test this you have to test in a controlled environment and not in a regular keep fight where a bazillion other things are going on besides meteor.

The simple solution is just to increase the cost of the utimate, so when it costs more, it is used less, and reflected less, and bring it in line with the other ultimates not being used. The players are forcing the dev's hands in overuse of the ability.

The fact folks know it can cause lag though just means 20+ need to hold it a tad bit longer before they spam it, still not addressing the underlying issue

The clear benefit of this is now those working on the issue have a way to reproduce it on their own for study.

Armed with that information I think they will be able to identify and target exactly how the lag is produced in any number of cases and/or other skills. Only one part, but an important part I think. The video offers them other insights and answers to question like what everyone was doing besides those using the spell, where the battle was, how many were there ect.

I don't think this is somthing zos should fix by changing the game, instead, I think they should deal with the few players who feel they need to cheat to win. they are ruining the game for everyone. if spamming meteor in chillrend while on a flag to lag out the server is the only way to win, you need to get a life. WRX and his guild are definitely one of the worst offending groups. If zos would just concentrate on those few players/ guilds for exploiting, the game would be much more enjoyable for everyone.
