How to make ESO way more fun: Make it open PVP and have it be part of the justice system.

    So add open PVP

No, and that's all I need to know about your idea to say that.

Open world PvP is a really, really bad idea for a whole mountain of reasons. Let it remain isolated to the very large map of Cyrodiil.

Have you been playing the game in the last week? WITHOUT PVP. game performance has been horrible EVERYWHERE, not just Cyrodil anymore. I cannot imagine making PVP part of the justice system if it means we have to keep playing under current conditions. As @Nestor posted, to make PVP work outside of Cyrodil could require stripping out a lot of the graphic elements that make the PVE environment so rich. By comparison, Cyrodil is a green desert.

Finally, I would not get my hopes up about PVP in the justice system, despite statements ZO$ made in the early releases about it. SINCE THEN, ZO$ dropped a IF into the mix. Since we all know how forthcoming ZO$ is about future plans (not!), that IF pretty much is the Kiss of Death to PVP beyond Cyrodil. Looking at ZO$ track record, don't hold your breath.

This one does not want pvp to intrude upon her pve. :/

    YES!!!!
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

By all that is blue, shiny and blessed by Azura..... No.

    Not even just "no", but:
"Kill it, seal its soul in a gem, encase that gem in a lead box and then drop that lead box into a portal to a particularly nasty plane of Oblivion."

Are we clear about my feelings on this subject? Good. I thought so too.

There's already open world PVP in the game. You can find plenty of it in Cyrodiil.

That's usually the only reason people can come up with to have it beyond a zone specifically made for it. Though they put it in a different way of course.

I dont get all this hate for the pvp populaton... Are you guys scared to fight someone stronger than you? Are you afraid to lose?

While i do belive that allow open word pvp in all the zones is simply stupid (low level ganked by hig levels without having the cirodill battle spirit is just meh ) actually a zone with a pve side but where i can fight the people from my faction ( i'ma little tired of all this faction hate) it will be awesome .

Is boring to be limitate in killing bananas and strowberries i want to fight my guildmates or my friends and i dont want to do it inside a small arena but with some envoirment around and the IC is not what i mean the faction stuff will be there and it will be the same over and over .

So yes for a NEW pve zone with open word pvp and NO to add pvp in the current pve zones.

the justice system is the open world PVP. i would not call their "first stage of the justice system" THE justice system at all. its like having a rolling chassis with an engine mounted to it but nothing else and calling it a motorcycle. they claim to be implementing an optional participation mechanic (i believe a tabard you wear) to participate on the "good side" to fight thieves and murderers.
I will work. I will save. I will sacrifice. I will endure. I will fight cheerfully and do my utmost, as if the whole issue of the struggle depended on me alone.

No, we don't want to deal with the often toxic PVP community of gankers and corpse-campers.

If I want PvP, I join some siege in cyrodil.

If I want PvE, I do all the other regions.

If I want PvE with the added suspense of PvP possibility spicing it up, I go do the daily quests in cyrodil.

And in the future, if I wanted PvP in all the other regions, it suppose it would be possible to "flag myself for it" by doing some crime and then waiting outside the range of justice guards for the PvP enforcers to come after me.

I see no reason to take away peoples choices to play PvE without PvP. Especially since I remember some "open world PvP" in other games where I often couldn't take ten steps on my quest without getting ganked by some higher level PKer.

We don't hate the PvP population, we just hate PvP.

You know, in the same way some PvPers hate PvE.

Different tastes, that's all. They need to be catered for in different ways, and in different areas of the game because they are not mutually compatible.

I think that opt in / opt out PvP could work especially if tied into the justice system as the OP suggested; however I think we should wait until the player guards are implemented before we revisit this idea and see how that pans out first.

I wouldn't necessarily be against optional open PvP I can elect to never participate in, but game performance is bad already in crowded PvE areas. Throw in all the spell effects from ongoing duels and skirmishes... No, it just would not work.

Every MMORPG I have played that had open PVP servers had the player populace on exactly these servers in a constant state of decline until only a couple of handful of players remained there. I take that as proof that noone wants open PVP.

Just because we don't want to do something does not mean we are scared or afraid. I don't eat Brussels Sprouts because I am afraid of them, I just don't like them.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Fallen Earth had open world PvP and it was actually a lot of fun.

Toggle it on and off with the /pvp command, and the name tags of other pvp-enabled players showed up in a different color.

When you toggled it back off, it would take 20 minutes to actually disable your pvp flag ,so you couldn't just chicken out mid-fight. Throw in plenty of wayshrines and it's easy to leave a fight if you're getting ganked.

And even if you weren't into PvP, it was entertaining to watch gang fights break out in town. It really didn't affect you at all if you didn't opt in, but it really opened up the game if you did choose to enable it.

Fallen Earth is still a lot of fun if you can get into it on the server's good days. I don't have anything against a toggled PvP option. It gives everyone a way to participate in a game exactly how they want. The only thing about ESO where it might not make as much sense is being completely blocked off from other faction zones. Unlike Fallen Earth, you don't have a lot of mixed factions running around looking to catch you alone and off guard. You would be fighting your own faction instead. This might not bother a lot of players, but it also doesn't make much sense.

Based on this design decision, I would say they purposefully intended not to have an open world PvP system like in other games. With the Justice System, it does now begin to make sense. You're a criminal, and criminals must be punished, especially if they are the same alliance. Once the PvP aspect of the Justice System is introduced, I suspect this will provide an opportunity for those wishing to participate in a "toggled" open world PvP the opportunity to do so, simply by killing a few innocent NPC's or stealing enough goods.

Fun for you perhaps, but many of us like PvP when it suits us, but want nothing to do with open world PvP all over Tamriel.

As it is, you can't RP most places without being trolled constantly, give these adolescents the ability to troll and grief at a PvP level and it will be intolerable.

I'm sorry ZOS has so neglected you prefered playstyle in Cyrodil, but you shouldn't get to come interfere with everybody else's play because of it.

Forgive me if all this has been said before. Huge Elder Scrolls fan here, played at launch, payed the whole time it was pay to play, but only just now started playing again....

Title pretty much says it all. The justice system strives to bring more "realism" and authentic Elder Scrolls feel. So add open PVP but have it be the same as murder, and if you attack other players in town the guards attack you to "keep the peace", out of town you get a bounty, etc, etc.

Also give me my damn thieves guild and dark brotherhood and tie it all in. Maybe some type of overall versus system between criminal and just players. Or mages/fighters vs thieves/brotherhood.

I am for this as long as there is an opt out, if I wanted to be ganked by hordes of pricks id go play Archeage.

No to open pvp. I am a pvp'er and I like it in its place. I like the choice of being able to go and do uninterrupted pve play.
