How to make ESO way more fun: Make it open PVP and have it be part of the justice system.

Forgive me if all this has been said before. Huge Elder Scrolls fan here, played at launch, payed the whole time it was pay to play, but only just now started playing again....

Title pretty much says it all. The justice system strives to bring more "realism" and authentic Elder Scrolls feel. So add open PVP but have it be the same as murder, and if you attack other players in town the guards attack you to "keep the peace", out of town you get a bounty, etc, etc.

Also give me my damn thieves guild and dark brotherhood and tie it all in. Maybe some type of overall versus system between criminal and just players. Or mages/fighters vs thieves/brotherhood.

There's already open world PVP in the game. You can find plenty of it in Cyrodiil.

The only way that Open PVP will work would be if there were options to remove yourself from it. A lot of players (myself included) do not do PvP with every toon they roll up. From a purely personal standpoint, I prefer to have one guy dedicated to PvP and one guy dedicated to PvE. So long as there was a way to become un-target-able (and not mid combat, I agree) and continue my way around Tamriel when Im in a PvE mood then I'd be all for that.

No to open world PvP, simply no.

If the PvPers really have enough peeps for Open world PvP, beg ZOS for a PvP server that you can transfer to(but not back from).

You can beat-up on all the noobies there to your ganking heart's content.

But don't be surprised if almost no one is on the PvP server in 6 months to a year.

    I agree with Shadeofkin.

I'd be cool with it if you can absolutely switch it off.

On the topic though..they could make it so the longer you survive player justice the better the prices you get for fencing stuff. And obviously the bigger your bounty the more a player gets for taking you down (these amounts should probably be higher than the actual bounty amount).

Could be fun, but need to handle with care, because a lot of people want no part of PKing griefers, and will leave the game if it goes badly.

I think you'll find that those brave and courageous folk who want to be able to gank PvE newbies in the starter zones because they don't like being beaten by their equals in Cyrodiil only want open PvP extended to the rest of the world, they aren't interested in open PvE being extended to Cyrodiil.

These PvP/PvE arguments over quests in Cyrodiil, extension of the Justice System and the creation of open PvP in the whole world are going to continue and will probably only get a lot worse, such that ZOS may well rue the day they came up with the whole concept of mega-servers rather than the traditional multiple server setup with separate PvE and PvP servers - they really have made a rod for their back in that respect. It's also frequently given as the reason why we have to put up with a broken economy and ineffective trading system.

Fallen Earth had open world PvP and it was actually a lot of fun.

Toggle it on and off with the /pvp command, and the name tags of other pvp-enabled players showed up in a different color.

When you toggled it back off, it would take 20 minutes to actually disable your pvp flag ,so you couldn't just chicken out mid-fight. Throw in plenty of wayshrines and it's easy to leave a fight if you're getting ganked.

And even if you weren't into PvP, it was entertaining to watch gang fights break out in town. It really didn't affect you at all if you didn't opt in, but it really opened up the game if you did choose to enable it.

You do know about all the lag in Cyrodiil right? Can you imagine how bad it would be in the significantly more graphically rich PvE Zones?

    First:

    1. They would have to remove all the animals in the game like they did in Cyrodill
    2. They would have to tone down all the graphics
    3. They would have to remove most of the statics like they did in Cyrodill
    4. Say goodbye to all the trees, plants, and interesting buildings
    5. etc etc (just compare Cyrodiil to the rest of the game to see how much would have to be removed)

All this so you can go around killing PCs who just want to explore and adventure in the game and not deal with PvP (or they would be in Cyrodiil) just because they wanted to steal something?

You want PvP, go to Cyrodiil, that's what it's made for.

They said PvP would end up being included in the Justice System. It was right there in the first Justice System announcement at Quakecon, so I'm sure it'll be implemented sooner or later.

Not sure why so many people here are pretending the very thought of it being included is ridiculous...

Until it shows up on the PTS, don't count on it showing up in the game.

    What a scary idea...

Open world PVP would be chaos. I thought the idea of guards was scary...

I like being able to stay out of PVP. I know there are some nice players out there in PVP land, but has anyone noticed how many threads in the forum involve sledging between the three factions? I think there are some who would love to go on a killing spree in EP zones, for example.

The title of this thread should be "How to make ESO more fun for people who enjoy PVP, but destroy it for those who don't."

All the haters totally ignore what I said about incorporating it into justice. Gank players? Get a huge bounty and attacked by guards.

Just seems like a prefect extension to the justice system to me. Feels like such a set up would fit nicely into the "spirit" they are going for.

Flagging on or off would be a good idea I suppose although if done correctly I think punishment could be a good enough deterrent.

Also I feel that it would feel more like an actual Elder Scrolls game but Online.

It's supposedly already in the works, and it sounds like the pvp part of it would only happen after the player racked up a big bounty, so all you "I accidentally double clicked and stole something" will be safe.

As an experienced Pvper from many games, it's a terrible idea, The Elder Scroll games got a deep n rich lore, and i think it's vital peeps can enjoy the story in their lvl areas without beeing griefed. If we want pvp we got Cyrodiil and prolly new pvp instance in the future. Open Pvp would destroy it for the Pve peeps that take their time and enjoy the quest dialogues and exploring such as myself sometimes.

Really i feel very awesome when i jump on a lowbie pver interacting with an npc, it makes me wanna brag or not.

I didn't discuss the justice system in my post here because I have said elsewhere that I think that it would give an unfair advantage to good PVP players. Leave PVP out of the PVE zones...and while I admit I don't like yhe idea, I am most certainly not a hater.

NO. By all the gods, NO.

There are countless games out there with open-world PvP. There's a reason this one does not play any of them.

Please not to be ruining ESO with open-world PvP. You can already slaughter lots of NPCs just about anywhere now, plus you can go to Cyrodil and gank each other to your heart's content.

There is NO open-world PvP system yet to be invented that has not been circumvented, abused, and otherwise twistede in various ways to cause grief to those who do not wish to participate.

    Just.... NO.
