✭✭They are guards meant to keep you in check. They are empowered by the Justice of Stendarr in order to keep you from getting out of controll. But they have no power over anything else and therefore weak as a kitten against anything else.

Molag Bal has dominated your mind and created an elaborate scheme to keep you from ever escaping: he's convinced you that you're free so that you'll never realise your caged, and no one can resist imprisonment if they don't know they are imprisoned. He's truly genius. The guards are unkillable because Molag Bal doesn't want the mind prison to be too entertaining, he wants you to suffer a bit.
Explains everything else too. Game bugs that you hate? Molag Bal mind prison torture. Constantly bad luck on the RNG? Molag Bal mind prison torture. Getting Radiant Destruction from 5 Templar at once? Molag Bal mind prison torture.
He's the god of schemes, and you've played right into his game!12 -
