    Yes, I want a challenge!
There have been a few talking about this lately, and for me, it's definitely something that needs addressing (and changing). So, I thought I'd bring in a poll, to get a nice and friendly vote going!

When was the last time you found a random piece of armour or a weapon, sighed with relief, and thought: 'Yes, this will definitely help me!' Because I am at the stage where I DON'T EVEN WANT TO LEVEL UP, because it'll make the game too damn easy!

It is NOT valid to suggest to me to wear level 1 gear, or run around naked, or even skip an ENTIRE SECTION OF THE GAME. And no, I will not attempt to solo dungeons that are intended for groups, because that's not how it's supposed to be.

I want to experience every quest possible. I want to enjoy every piece of armour, every weapon, and every enemy. But how can I do this if using the latest weapons and armour scaled to my character, are just making this game *** easy?

I wish crafting a weapon, and then going to craft a really powerful glyph was actually meaningful. Most of these kind of features are just pointless because they're not useful :( I don't even pick up runes, and I sell every glyph that I find... :(

I'm not only asking for my enemies to have a damage boost, I'm also asking for them to be smarter. I've been testing the DPS of my enemy, and I can confirm that all enemies will attack within 2-5 seconds (this excludes when an enemy is charging an attack). FIVE SECONDS can go and you won't even be attacked. This is downright diabolical. I think enemies should be able to spam their attacks, or at least SOME enemies should be able to; like higher ranked enemies being smarter and more confident kinda thing. The generic guards can spam their skills and show no hesitation in kicking our arses, why can't our usual world enemies be like this? Or at least just a little more spammy, so that I won't feel like I'm just kicking a puppy every time I'm in a battle.

I solo'd an anchor the other day, but aren't these supposed to be targeted at a group of players? It's time for a change, guys, and we need Zenimax to realise this!

I want to play this game with my wife, and I was waiting for TESO: Unlimited, in order to do this. But I can't even imagine how easy this game would be if I were to group with even one person. At this rate, with much regret, I'll end up moving on from TESO.

EDIT: Some fellows don't like the way I phrased the second option. I didn't mean to sound derisive or derogatory with this. This is how I chose to describe the enemies. They can't be so smart if the game is as easy as it is, and I gave my reasons for why I think they're dumb. It's just a word, don't take offence, and you don't have to agree with it. If you must dispute this word, at least say why you think the enemies aren't dumb.

As it is the game is easy for those who put the most into it. I don't craft so I always depend on the drops for gear, current difficulty doesn't make crafting mandatory.

Keep in mind that previously, the veteran zones/mobs were difficult, and because of player outcry, ZOS decided to nerf its difficulty. Now everything is so easy that you can steamroll it through.

Putting things in perspective, for ZOS damn if you, damn if you don't. Can't make everyone happy. I was really happy with the original difficulty, thank god I got to experience it.

Yeah, I know, and I agree. I wish I could've experienced the original difficulty. I can't wait until I can wear strong armour, and actually feel good for wearing it... If I ever get to.

No, because harder enemies would likely completely negate the crazy random builds solo players come up with just to play for fun or whatever, pigeon holing builds even more and run some players off.
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

Then really this is just an editorial with a poll tacked on that begs the question rather than asking it.

I'm not knocking or disparaging your opinions about the game's difficulty whatsoever, but the poll part of it isn't likely to reveal anything other than the effects of biases on polling, which are already well-known and invalidate whatever conclusions you may be trying to draw from the poll.

Not trying to be contentious, just sayin' ;)

You don't get it. I can't wear dropped gear, other than in PVP. If I wear or craft up-to-date gear, it makes the game too easy. Why should I have to miss out on crafting? I can wear gear that's half my level, and it's still too easy, so I wouldn't say it's only easy for those who put the 'most' into it.

I whined when it was too frustratingly hard and I couldn't take out a group of three enemies in a tight tunnel.

After a break, I decided to go back and finish the quests in my Cadwell gold for the AD Hero title and finish off levelling VR 13 & 14.

From the VR6-VR10 zone I used one key, one spell. It was the Templar Puncturing Sweep that is an AoE and heal.

It's now gone the other way and something is very wrong....

Personally, I feel solo questing is too easy, but I also think the dungeons are a little too difficult. You can't really just pick up a PUG and roll into a dungeon without a very good chance of dozens of deaths.

I'd personally like the difficulty of overland zones and solo quests raised, and the hit points on bosses in the dungeons lowered a bit.
Templars are 'just slower... by design'
Yes, Gina actually said that (at least regarding Rushed Ceremony) right here:

I know what you're saying, but it's pretty evident that the enemies in this game are dumb. If they weren't, the game wouldn't be so easy. I gave a poll option because I wanted to see what the community wants, rather than just hear an opinion of one people.

The game as it stands right now requires little to no skill at all. You can literally mash buttons and be extremely effective against most enemies. I'm currently playing through as a Nightblade and at levels 28 and 29 I'm doing level 36 quests with ease.

I think one thing they could probably do, is put a difficulty slider for solo dungeons, like in the Fighters Guild quests.

They should add in wandering high level mobs to the game. This would make things more interesting. Here you are bashing at a small mob and some elite walks up and kicks you in the crotch. It would certainly help to keep you on your toes if that were possible.

I would say every MMORPG in recent memory has catered to this crowd. The game always starts off with some challenge and over time ESO is what you get.

What is that? I'm not a veteran. I know what you'll say, you'll say I don't know this game's challenges until I become a veteran, but I'll have you know that questing should also be at least a bit challenging! And I should be able to wear armour that's scaled to my level, and not feel like I'm just kicking puppies :(

This poll is every bit as invalid as every other poll on this forum. Some things are easy, others are not. I do not approve of an overall difficulty change in either direction at this point. They have too many other things to work on.

Well now. I love the Voting options!

The one the OP obviously disagrees with, come off as a slight.
    Who would have thought.

Let me be the voice of the Majority of the Playerbase who doesn't frequent the forums or go to
    Theorycraft sites for builds:

The game is just fine for them, and lets them "Play how they want to play..."
You know that little sentenced that was on the game's promotional materials?

You should be ashamed for your sad attempt at baiting people.

Oh, you're the voice? What a dreadful shame to have such a pompous person as our voice. I gave my reasons for why I branded the enemies as dumb. If you don't like my poll, you can clear off. Otherwise, you can either vote quietly, give your choice reason(s), or you can explain why my adjective is whatever you think it is.

When I started playing the game, I enjoyed the experience of dying multiple times and finally clearing PVE dungeons where all the mobs were several levels above character level. This was on the PTS, so if you entered a dungeon by yourself or with a friend, you would rarely find other players inside.

When the game launched, suddenly there were many other players everywhere and it seemed a bit ridiculous. You could do level 30-40 quests at level 5-10 because there were other players killing all the mobs.

Currently, if you really want a challenging PVE experience, the 4-man "group" dungeons are the only ones that you can do solo or with a partner. They are instanced, so you won't have lots of other players inside.

At this point, I'm no longer interested in any PVE content, so if I need to do anything in PVE, I'd prefer it to be as easy and fast as possible so I can quickly get a skyshard/skill point and return to Cyrodiil. I try to avoid doing any of the lowbie public or group dungeons until I'm max veteran level and can blow through them quickly.

Some very good points @Willyoke. A lot of people suggest wearing less gear or something to that effect to increase difficulty level but I find this detracts from the experience. There are games like Dark Souls that become so addictive because you KNOW... you just KNOW there is no way you can skimp around the fights and make the game easier.

Sure you might be able to fake it past a few mobs but at the end of the level, there's going to be that huge boss and unless you came prepared it's going to be a DISASTER. And you know this. Knowing this is what draws you in closer. You are a gluten for punishment, much like myself. We are here for that challenging opportunity, to do the impossible, slaying that undefeated boss at the end of the level. We spend all of our time progressing towards this one single goal, raising our alchemy skills, learning how to cook and craft our own weapons enchanted with deadly magics for this singular purpose. WHERE IS IT? Where is that darned boss?! I will KILL the beast!
