This has been fun.

Spent all morning running around with broken armor and dying over and over while trying to rebuild my character and figure out new abilities to use.

Next time you decide to dramatically alter/nerf my character I would appreciate it if you at least gave us a grace period where dying does not cause armor deterioration and skill resets do not cost money. It would make this whole process a lot less painful and expensive. Because it's not easy to adapt: suddenly to find all of your skills/attributes reset and your old playing style no longer effective.

A little less cavalier when handling changes of this magnitude is all that I ask.

Patch notes, refunded stats and skill points that you can redistribute with a notice that things have changed that first time you log in. 1.6 changed a whole lot of things. This was in no way cavalier.

But the fact remains that you were forced to respec the moment you logged in after the update, and unless you had spent a lot of time on the PTS then you weren't going to have the first clue as to how to respec. A lot of us called for a grace period with free or discounted respecs while people sorted themselves out, or else a respec token that could be consumed once you'd done your researches, and we said the alternative was that there would be these sorts of complaints. This was especially inevitable given that the update was applied immediately before opening the game up to returning players through the change in business model.

I think that should have been done as well Tandor. I still haven't figured out my best options for skills and etc.

It was the cavalier language I was responding too.

I did go onto the PTS, and I have still respecced 2 of my characters twice (well I still have to respec one of them) and have redistributed the Champion points a couple of times.

1.4/1.5 gave us two weeks (or so) of free respecs and it did not change anywhere near as many things as 1.6 did.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

The fact is we had a month to play around with specs on the PTS. I sympathize but at the same time it's not like we never had an opportunity to test this stuff out.

I am having to rebuild my character from the ground up something that I did slowly over a period of months suddenly all at once and you think a single skill refund and patch notes is enough to accommodate this?

We don't agree and I'll just leave it at that. I hope they don't make a habit of doing these sort of massive changes with only a single skill reset and patch notes as penance. I have left other games because I got tired of having to constantly rebuild my character to adjust to the whims of what is considered OP this month or OP the next.

As I said: at least give us a grace period to where we can test out new builds and die a lot during this new learning process without having to pay a fortune for the privilege. Because I shouldn't have to go broke because the developers can't make up their minds.

They did give us that grace period, it's called PTS.

You can't reasonably expect every player to use the PTS. Some won't want to, some won't have the hard drive capacity to do so, some won't have the time to do so, and some weren't active in the game when the update was on the PTS but have been enticed back immediately after it went live.

Your grace period could've been holding off from jumping into the game until you fully read the patch notes after the update.

The PTS patch notes were constantly released to the public so anyone could see what they were doing with update 1.6.

I never once played on the PTS, yet I managed to be able to rebuild my characters as good as I could and enjoyed trying out new things. I also had lots and lots of gold to respec a few times.

Because it happens doesn't mean it should.

I'm not trying to bait anyone or be a troll... but are you really lose that much gold in repairs?

To be fair I've never kept track of how much I spend in repairs, but I can honestly say that I have never thought of repairs as a gold sink.

Though, I would still love it if crafters could repair their own gear.

That's true, but not everybody has the disk space, or the download time, or the desire to download the PTS.
