Hi All,

Any formula out there what is better - more health or more spell resists and armor?

No cap on health but 50% cap on damage mitigation means health is better yes?

Well, depends on the cap level. Do you know the number for dam mitigation for let's say VR14?

Health because it can be healed... ;)

it soooo depends on what you play... tanks need more health while for a DD in the middle of the fight it could be good to have some resistance.
it also depends on the stats you have and all.

Shield is better than health but in some cases you must have at least 18-20k HP because some mobs hit really hard.

For trash mobs health doesn't matter, shields are much better.

Health because it can be healed... ;)

Actually, all healing gets more effective as your mitigation rises. The higher your resists, the more each HP is worth.

This is the concept of 'effective health', how much health you would need to survive the same hits with zero mitigation.

With 10,000 HP and 0% mitigation, a 2,000-damage skill deals fulls damage and kills you in 5 hits. Your effective health is 10,000.

With 10,000 HP and 50% mitigation, a 2,000-damage skill deals 1,000 damage and kills you in 10 hits. Your effective health is 20,000. A 1,000 HP heal is effectively doubled.

With 10,000 HP and 20% mitigation, a 2,000-damage skill deals 1,600 damage and kills you in 7 (6.25 actually) hits. Your effective health is 12,500. A 1,000 HP heal is effectively 1,250 HP.

In any case: effective_health = health/(100 - mitigation)% (with mitigation <= 50. That's the cap). Obviously, you have different effective health against physical and against magical attacks. Also, shields are not affected by mitigation, so their strength is added directly to your effective health.

tl;dr: If you want to be as tankly as possible, maximize your effective health.

Thanks a lot! I made a build with ~17k health and 18k both spell resist and armor. Will see how it will go. I noticed that I am a bit sturdier than when I had 18k health and 14k spell res/armor. But it was not clear to me whether it is worth it to move from health+ weapon damage to magica + all resists. Will see how it will go. But I didn't know that it also affects healing :)

I'm using this thread for calculations.

With 14k res. you get about 21,7% mitigation. For 18K HP, that's 22989 effective health.

With 18K res. you get 28% mitigation. For 17K HP, that's 23611 effective health.

Not too much of a difference, but you are now 2.63% more durable and heals are about 8% better on you :)
