Pets I think they are pointless and buggy!

So I feel venting something here about pets, I like the idea but I don't like it because there is nothing do with them?
ANd they are buggy! Sometimes they disappear? and U have to re-select them to have them around but even then when u have them around whats the point?
Mounts are awesome, why? Because there is something useful to them! Even if the use for pets is superficial like feeding your pet, it having a health bar? That would actually create a point to have one, make it more personal, unique versues everyone having exactly what you got and thats about it!

Just feel its stupid and would enjoy that it actually be not like that!

Like having a health bar and everytime u feed it, it levels up? Like the horse? Man how awesome would that be versues nothing.
I could just imagen how many people would not really think much of mounts if they couldnt be improved in some manner.

And if we have the option to rename our pets, why can't we see our pets' custom names on mouseover?

Players in every other MMO I play which has mounts demonstrate that this idea of yours isn't the case.

As for your complaints about pets, I agree that they're generally pretty lack-lustre, the animations of some really are poor .. and horses are terrible in terms of the way they turn and jump (it's a pity ZOS didn't ask Bethesda for permission to use Skyrim's horses as a basis for ESO's) .. and the new black cat is stupidly large and yet another annoyance obscuring NPCs etc along with Sorc's damned battle pets.

I would appreciate an option to make pets invisible. They just are annoying if you are running a dungeon and a whole zoo is following your party.

The sad part is, outside of soloing, even "combat pets" are still buggy, underpowered and sometimes an hinderance.

No, I do not want a "health bar" following me around.
How awesome would it be if it could level up?
Not awesome at all. Just as pointless as it is now, your argument brings nothing.
Leveling up to what? Nothing. Still pointless.

Pets are indeed pointless in the way that they are purely cosmetic.
True and good as they would start an endless P2W discussion otherwise.

Implement combat-pets? Ok, as a skilline.

Buggy: Yes, mine keep disappearing as well. And I think their default distance they keep from the character is too far.

I don't get pets at all on any level or perspective... I don't understand why anyone likes them [in any game]. ~shrugs~

Now if they had a mechanical purpose in the game they would be amazing. Even minor stuff, such as:

Canine pets gave a small Stamina gain (morale boost) of 10 + level
Feline could be sent to pounce on your target (stun +0.5 + 0.25 every ten levels) once every 2 minutes.
Guar could absorb one critical hit (1% at 1st level and 50% at 50th level) every minute.

None do damage but have benefits to bringing into battle.

Could even give them levels and have the benefits be applied based on their level and not yours (but could never go higher then your current level).

I like pets. Sure they don't do anything, but they're like costumes or dye, something you can use to customise your character. I've even invented stories for how my characters came to have whichever pet I usually use on them.

If you don't like them you can just not use them. (Although that doesn't solve the issue of not liking to see other peoples pets.)

The problem is pets are currently used like costumes - as rewards for various things and novelty items sold in the crown store, which works because they don't have any practical function.

Adding a benefit in combat from having a pet means we're getting into pay-to-win territory. Anyone who has bought the Imperial Edition, or Explorers/Adventurers pack, had a sub for 3 or 6 months before TU, spent money in the crown store etc. now has an advantage over those who don't. A small advantage sure, but still an advantage.

Yeah, crown store is fine by me as it is but I'll start getting worried when I see enhancements like stat boosts in there.

Wait?! What on earth does this have to do with P2W? I merely mentioned we could have pets that would provide a mechanic. No where did I mention the current pets should converted over, and those with special pets for pre-orders (or other methods) should have unique pet/powers. Unbelievable people.

Here, to make sure no one goes into panic mode these could be new pets introduced to everyone that you buy with GOLD and not Crowns OR they could be quest rewards.

All I mentioned was it would be nice if pets could have a mechanic and throw out some ideas. Why on earth wouldn't you want pets to have more usefulness then a cosmetic?

Pointless? Of course they're pointless, they're vanity pets! The only point to them is if you like seeing them follow you around. I like mine, but it's purely cosmetic.

Having said that, I'm not opposed to the idea of having different pets available in the future that actually provides a mechanic. I would want the benefit to having the pet to be small, though, and something that you can't really take much advantage of. Something like a few extra bag slots, for example.

Would like vanity pets to have animation of fighting, when your character is fighting. It's completely unrealistic to see my character's dog just sit down and stare, while my character fights for his life.

I know it's unrealistic to expect actual combat from said pet, but animation would be nice.

I would prefer a cowering animation to a fighting animation. I mean, they obviously aren't helping, so they might as well be cowering in fear!

Very buggy for me. They disappear all the time and I have to re-summon them.

I thought they were supposed to have addressed this. :( Thought I read a patch note about it not long ago.

LOL, I haven't bought anything from the crown store, primarily because the limited selection is everywhere...BUT I said last night talking in guild that I would buy a cat if I could name it "dog"...but what's the point if only I see it??? :s
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!
