Do you buy a $30 pack of 3000 crowns and buy it, or do you subscribe for two months for the same $30, get 3000 crowns, and also have 2 months of +10% XP for champion points, +10% gold cause hey why not, AND get a free 2 months access to Imperial City to decide if you really want to buy it and keep it?
Which option sounds more appealing to you?
Also, if you decide you wish to subscribe indefinitely, you can just continue the free access until you are done playing and use the crowns you get each month to buy other things in the cash shop. Its your choice not to purchase the DLC though, which you will have to do no matter what if you want to play it indefinitely.
Honestly, if you are looking to buy crowns at all, you start with subscribing first, and then only purchase additional crown packs if you need more above and beyond what you would get from a one-time subscription purchase.

Are we sure that straight up buying crowns is the same value ratio as what is given when subbed? ...

from 17 marts and till the first DLC, I cant see any reason to sub

It's very well known that there will be. In fact, they've officially stated that Orsinium is the next DLC area they are releasing.
They're also working on MurkMire, Mephala's Realm, Abah's Landing, and The ClockWork City. All of these are shown in the ESO Tamriel Unlimited episode.

No, that is not known at all yet. I believe zward was just using the $15=1500 Crowns as an example.
It is all conjecture at this point, but I believe it will be closer to $10=5000 Crowns. Why would they give subscription folks the full value (in crowns) for their sub PLUS everything else? I find that doubtful, personally. Having said that, I intend to keep my subscription until ZOS makes it not fun anymore...

Have you seen the Crown Store?
The Imperial Edition is, last I checked, 2100 Crowns. The Imperial Edition currently costs $20. Do the math.
Are we sure that straight up buying crowns is the same value ratio as what is given when subbed? For example let's say ESO Plus is still 15$ a month and with that they give you 1500 Crowns per month. If someone who isn't subbed going to pay that same exchange rate of 1$ per 100 Crowns?
The store now has the cost of crown bundles (because you can now buy crowns), so we now know that if you're buying in the biggest bulk option available (5500 crowns) it's cheaper to buy your crowns directly than to buy them indirectly with a subscription. Not by a lot, though.psicorpb16_ESO wrote: »Mmmmm. So to summarise, do we still not know if subbing and accumulating crown points to save up for DLC is cheaper than waiting to see if a bulk purchase offer when said DLC is released, and not subbing ?(Ignoring xp benefits) , and if we're not sure is there any chance of clarification from the powers that be please?
Apologies if this has been answered already, but couldn't find it.
Thanks in advance

If you don't care about the other subscriber benefits (the 10% bonuses), then wait for a DLC to come out, get a 1 month subscription that comes with 1500 crowns (for the same price as buying a pack of 1500 crowns), and you've just got yourself a trial of the DLC.
If you find it's not worth buying in order to hang on to it for longer than that one month, then you're better off than if you had bought the crowns to buy it, because you just cancel your sub, and you've still got 1500 crowns to go towards the next DLC or something else.
If you decide you want to buy it, then just cancel your subscription and top up your crowns by however much you need to in order to buy the DLC.
This way will cost you slightly more than just buying crowns in bulk, but only a little more, and you have the security of knowing that you won't waste your crowns on any DLC that you don't feel is worth it.

It's the best bang-for-my-buck I can think of, entertainment-wise.
If you feel watching someone else play the DLC is a good way to judge whether you'll enjoy playing it, sure. Personally I hate watching videos of other people playing games (well, unless it's somehow entertaining beyond just the gameplay: like Co-optitude), so I'd much rather try it out myself. Especially when, at worst, you'll only end up spending a couple of bucks more doing it that way, and you don't have to waste your gaming time watching someone else play. I know a lot of people don't feel like watching someone else play a game is a waste of their time, though, so if it works for you it's a good option.Based on the prices of crowns I don't know that I'd agree with that.Naor_Sarethi wrote: »Buying seems smarter than renting. Or even better, you skip the sub to "try" the dlc and just watch some youtube vids of the dlc instead. Then buy it if you like it. That's THE cheapest route.

Expecting at least 6 months between expansion dlc, that's $90 for 6 months of subbing to buy expansion dlc that won't even be half that ( unless Zenimax has completely flipped their gourd.
Nope, buying as needed is the way to go.

That's a bad expectation.
Even if you're just being cynical, you have to assume that ZO want to make as much money as possible and make ESO Plus an attractive option. They're going to be releasing paid DLC much more often than every 6 months once the console launch happens.
