Given ZOS' history of 180-degree U-turns I'd personally be wary of asserting 'never', but I agree that at present ZOS 'have no plans' I think it the best way to express it. ;)

Aww, that's a shame. Despite how much of a pain it was at times, I actually have some fond memories of grinding for Turbine Points in LOTRO back in the day.

Which was exactly the reason why Mithril Coins were introduced later, which could only be bought, and not earned in-game in any way.

Actually they can be "earned" through Hobbit presents. Essentially a raffle, but it is possible for non subscribers to get them semi-regularly.

Ah, yes, the infamous "slobbit machines". A "gamble" (in every sense of the word) invented to up the daily login numbers, which were faltering fast at the time...

But given the fact that after their introduction, increasingly more and more "convenience" could only be bought (or rather, inconvenience could only be avoided) by paying Mithril Coins, it was clear that they were meant to be bought, not earned.

I don't see what incentive there could be for ZOS to ever make crowns something that you could get in-game.

Conversely, from the point of view of ZOS, I see one big reason not to make crowns something you could get in-game: they'd make less money selling crowns (and subscriptions that come with crowns) if you could just grind them out in-game.

The only way to get them in-game - technically, would be to subscribe.

I realy think that let players convert gold into crowns is something that ZOS should consider for the future. Make crown store items grindable would help a lot on keep ppl interested in the game, which means more people interested on buying future DLCs.

It would not stop people from buying crowns with real money, at the same time that would avoid the fundation of the "cashers class" based on the items ppl have. Not to mention that it would allow CS to have much more versatile items.

If they did introduce a way to grind crowns, they couldn't do it so that you could buy them with gold. That would be an incentive for bots and gold sellers to try to infest the game again like they did back at launch.

I wouldn't say never will be or shouldn't ever be,some of the stuff they offer is cool as hell and the fact that you gotta spend more to get it is dumb,I think key to a great game is give players the short cut or the option to earn it.
