Fatal Error 11 (and incredibly big and slow repairs), Please Help!

CNpaddington
Hi everyone,

Here's the deal: I updated the game with the new patch 6 (took me ages) but I now have TU. Problem is I get Fatal Error 11 whenever I press PLAY. So I look on the forum and find out that I have to run a client repair, so I do. Now then I had to download a 31GB repair at 100-300 kb/s which took even longer (1 1/2 Hours to get to 2%). Eventually I started to get annoyed so I searched the forums again and found that running the client as administrator usually works, so I did. I still get Fatal Error 11 when I click PLAY.

The question is, is there any way of resolving this is a manner that doesn't involve me waiting non-stop for 33-100 hours (I worked it out) for a repair to finish?

I hope anyone can be of help.

FYI: I have already submitted a ticket, still no reply though (as expected) so I'm hoping this forum discussion will get me somewhere faster.

Here's my DxDiag if it's of any use:

    Hello @CNpaddington !

At this time, the servers are down for maintenance, but when they are back up you should be able to continue troubleshooting your launcher more successfully.

Error 11 can occasionally cause issues with connectivity if it is an older version of the launcher, which will affect how your files are downloaded and patched. If repairing is still not resolving it for you, we do recommend ensuring that you aren't having interference from any third-party software while patching. You'll need to go ahead and add exceptions for ESO:TU and the launcher to your antivirus and firewall suites, and ensure you're opening the launcher as administrator.

If you continue to have Error 11 occur, we advise you to try a selective startup/clean boot to ensure no other third-party software is interfering.

Since you have submitted a support ticket, one of our agents will be able to look closer into your system to help you troubleshoot your specific case one-on-one. Thank you again!

Thanks a bunch Molly, the only question I have is if I really do have 31GB worth of files corrupted? Hence the huge download, etc.

    Hello!

When it goes through to repair the full amount of patch/game files, it is likely just going through and checking them but not re-downloading them. You may find that it speeds up once it starts skimming through the existing files.

    Thanks again!

I hope that's true but it's been taking around two hours to get to 2% and it says 'downloading' in the bottom left corner.
  • CNpaddington
Perhaps I have an outdated version of the game (strange as I'm pretty sure I updated it and the launcher does say Tamriel Unlimited). My launcher tells me I have version 1.3.6.1133142
  • CNpaddington
I ran it as administrator but nothing changed and all Zenimax related programs are allowed past my firewall. I ran the game consultant and here's the report:

Well I'm now uninstalling and installing again, still pretty slow but I don't have much of a choice. :/

    Hello!

From the report you posted, we can see that your connection doesn't appear to be going beyond your personal computer, and in the launcher logs at the bottom many of your depot files are being flagged as corrupt. A full uninstall and reinstall may resolve it for you, however you may end up experiencing the same issues regarding corrupt files if your connection doesn't improve.

You may benefit from performing some connectivity troubleshooting as well to help improve your connection health. Some connectivity improving steps are behind a spoiler tag to help prevent a wall of text here!
•Disable your antivirus and firewall software or make an exception/whitelist inside of your antivirus and firewall software to either allow the folder of Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited or the specific files of ESO.exe and the Bethesda.net_Launcher.exe
•Disable any add-ons/mods you may have added to your ESO game
    •Flush your DNS:
    Click on the Start button
◦Type cmd in the Start Menu
◦Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
◦Type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter
◦If it was successful, you will see the message "Windows IP configuration successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache"
    ◦Power cycle the router
•Add Port Forwarding. These are the ports that the game utilizes on the router. If any of them are closed, it can cause various connection issues, including lag.
    ◦TCP / UDP Ports 24100 through 24131
    ◦TCP / UDP Ports 24300 through 24331
    ◦TCP / UDP Ports 24500 through 24507

The process for opening the ports will vary depending on your router make and model, there are plenty of guides online, but I would recommend contacting your Internet Service Provider for help with this.

If you're still having this error appear, please try the following to help get rid of the corrupt depot files and force your client to repopulate the folder with the correct files.

1.Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited for the North American megaserver or C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited EU for the European megaserver.
2.Look for the Depot folder. Move this folder to the desktop. You can drag and drop the folder for ease.
3.Reopen your launcher and run the repair.

Thank you, and for more specific troubleshooting for your specific connection and error, one of our support agents will be in touch with you soon!

I'm currently trying to open some more outbound ports but the ports you listed are not listed on my list of ports.
  • CNpaddington
The closest I get is TCP / UDP: 7648:24032
  • CNpaddington
    Would allowing ANY(TCP)(TCP:1:65535) work?
  • CNpaddington
Actually scratch that, I'll just create custom rules

Hmm, that's strange. It's possible that the issue may be happening again (I already started re installing last night). It's now at 20% after keeping it on over night and into the day, but now instead of saying something like 31000 MB (31 GB), it's now saying there is only 300 MB (3 GB) to download. I have opened the ports that need to be opened and flushed my DNS.
  • CNpaddington
Well from what I've gathered the client is almost always wrong and downloading from the EU is a pain because all the ESO servers are in NA. Not to mention the serious traffic due to the recent updates and increased interest and according to the client, my current download speeds are about 10% of my actual average download speeds.

The download bar on my client is about 1/8 of the way through, and it says 21% has been downloaded. However the the client also says I have about 1480 MB left, so I should actually be around 50% complete.

    Oh joy...

@CNpaddington Hi, i really empathize with what you are going through. I am going through very similar problems! I even have the same version of launcher as you, (version 1.3.6.1133142) although I am on the NA server. I have been with ESO from the very start back in BETA and got my Launcher at BETA and it has been working great till just recently, if that is even the problem. (@ZOS, BTW i really like the new pictures that appeared on the Launcher for Tamriel Unlimited.)

I have not been able to play for some time now. It was downloading update 6 very slowly which i was looking into, and was still not fully completed at that when the TU update came about. I have to return to University tomorrow, so when today it said it was all 100% done, and i saw the PLAY button lit up and i was so thrilled about hopefully finally getting in there to play and see the Stripped Senche Tiger Mount, but then when I clicked play button it just went to a black screen and a crash report.

I went to the forums to look for solutions again, and I was sure to tweak or try anything suggested from the known issues forum in ESO Support too, even cutting and pasting in the text advised into the settings text for ESO, running ESO and the Launcher as Administrator and anything else suggested there by ZOS. Eventually I have been working on this all day again trying more steps than i can list without writing allot more, but to make a long story short, i ended up back where I started as whilst i was researching this yet again on support forum, the launcher button turned to PLAY, so i tried that and i am back to getting crash report is all. :o!

Now it says, "...Fatal Error...Error 11" I sent in the crash reports.

My computer memory is good, I have no add-ons for ESO, although the ESO Live Survey is still left on here from the BETA and has not affected anything before. I also have all my computer programs up to date, but here are my basic specs. in spoiler.
    My Specs:
HP Pavilion dv7-6179us Entertainment Notebook PC
    (HD and 3D Capable)
17.3 Diagonal HD Brightview LED Display Moniter
2nd Generation Intel Core i5 Processor 2.4 GHz
    (Cool Sense Technology included)
    750 GB Hard Drive/ 6144 MB useable DDR3 SDRAM
    Radeon Graphics AMD (11x included)
Additional 2GB Dedicated-Radeon Graphics HD 6490M (Switchable Graphics)
New Mobile Intel HM65 Express Chipset
Blue-ray Optical Drive (HD and 3D capable)
Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)
    WLANN and Bluetooth
    Beats Audio

Although it seems many people are having these issues, mine are quite similar to yours here especially it seems.. :@CNpaddington, good luck! @ZOS Thank you in advance for any help you can give us all, so we can have fun with all the new additions to an already wonderful game. :) As a last resort before making a help ticket, I will try launching it without the launcher as some suggested on another support thread, but if you have any ideas about Fatal ERROR 11 i would appreciate it.
