2.0 - Another 40 GB patch?

41.6 GB is the size of ESO on my HD. Seems patching 96% of the entire file is a bit much. 1.6.5 was 40 GB for me; is 2.0.1 going to be as big?

From what the PTS patch notes state, most likely not. You pretty much already have every core component of Tamriel Unlimited with the last update. Now they'll just throw a small patch out to do some fixes, and turn the crown store on and transition to a subscriptionless option.

And yes, your title is completely misleading. If you have a question, use a question mark, don't make it seem like a statement of fact.

Yeah. PTS patch was pretty small. I think they will switch Crown Store and do some minor fixes.

Perhaps they've finally learned how to make a patcher that patches individual files rather than entire db blobs. Hope so, because there's no way in hell console players will stick around for 20gb-40gb "patches" every time a couple small changes gets made. Hope they repair the repair system too. Next time I get the repair tool trying to download 30gb because some file got borked after a random game crash, I'm out for good.

Just wait until the 17th, when all those console players download, install, hit play, and get "ERROR 11" and get told the only solution is to uninstall, redownload, and reinstall. I can foresee half the potential console market being driven away in just the first couple days by nothing other than ZOS regular old QA standards.

ZOS better have Akatosh in their corner, and he better be one hell of a programmer.

The 2.0.0 patch on the PTS was ~800MB, I would imagine 2.0.1 with a few more fixes will be 1GB or so, as they really aren't making very many changes.

@Zorvan it doesn't launch on console on the 17th.

When's console launch then? I thought that's what the whole B2P thing was supposed to be for?

Oh, well. It'll still be a good popcorn day watching the PC servers buckle and explode. But man, I was waiting for the epic console blowout. ;p

I know this. But since ZOS future is riding on those console players, the forums here and on the Xbone and PS4 forums are going to be very entertaining during the inevitable botching.

Whether they "botch" console launch or not, your statement was that you were going to be "watching PC servers buckle and explode," which is irrelevant. As for the forums being entertaining, I'd say you are ahead of the train with your popcorn.

There won't be a 40g patch. The tittle of this thread is misleading.

That's because you're forgetting PC goes B2P on the 17th, when lots of people are gonna come back for free, and maybe even some new people. And the PC servers are going to buckle and explode, which I'd say is very relevant. In case you haven't noticed, they have trouble holding the strain of those here playing right now.

So the 17th is going to be a glorious clusterduck regardless, it's just the console launch would have made it a bombgasm of epic proportions.

Over the first few days after a patch it's common for the launcher to indicate a repair is needed, but it's invariably a false error report. Ignore it and simply close/re-open the launcher to get the "play" button back. The problem goes away after a few days.

I have forgotten nothing and your original statement was regarding the servers for the PC having issues due to console launch when they are not related. Now are trying to argue that the PC servers will "buckle and explode" because of B2P launch on Tuesday. Good luck getting your wish.

Servers will get slammed first couple weeks. People will realize nothing much has changed they disliked. They log out again. 90 days after the relaunch everything will be empty again.
