ESO Paid Beta ends March 17, 2015

I feel like I have been playing a paid beta for almost a year. The PC version seems to have been a massive beta test for the console version. Dont get me wrong, I love the direction the game is going but getting there has been painful at times.

Maybe ZoS can give those of us who have been here since closed Alpha (heretofore known as closed beta) would get some sort of bonus for helping them test their game for almost a year?

Even the console release will still be beta since they plan on removing veteran ranks after that.

I'm sure this is getting closed, but since you asked: we are getting an allotment of Crowns for each month spent playing prior to this, as well as loyalty rewards.

Welcome to MMO development. It is not that we are beta testing for consoles, it is that we are live testing a game. No amount of PTS can fully test a live environment. EVERY MMO suffers such. Golden Years (well polished) for games isn't typical until almost 2 years after launch. The live market is part of the process for polishing. I wish more people had an understanding of this and thereby had less self entitlement.

    Sorry, but that's not right.

There are games that have run better within the first month than ESO in the first year. I don't know many MMORPGs that suffered so much Q&A.

Don't seek excuses where no excuses are.

We played beta since launch and will play beta until console release.

While I agree with your comment in spirit, I cannot agree with the date you suggest... Beta ends with Console release. ;)

Which would make it`s end date June 9th, I believe.

I am confused, we did not pay to play beta for a year. If you paid beta for a year then your characters would be subject to being wiped. Your items as well. If you as players do not like the game then stop playing it. To this end many have. I believe they intended to go BTP when the console was delayed for more than 3 months and this is what happened.

I am glad the game went BTP because now I do not have to pay for it to play. Zen has incentive to bring out DLC now, because I will pay for it when it comes out. If they do not, I keep playing for free. If they do not update the game, and fix the bugs, players leave. If players leave, less players buying their DLC and less revenue for them.

IMO Zen has more pressure to succeed now than it ever did, expect them to do a better job bringing bug free content than before. Its not like you can patch every week on XBOX and PS live.

Zen has till September to do well, after that I am moving to the RVR successor. The game that should have been made long ago.

Ahem. Uniquely COLORED Senche Mount. Just like we'll have the uniquely COLORED monkey. I'd have been much happier with a Senche mount I could choose any of the available colors for but have it have unique armor. But... nope.

Not really. There are open betas that are some kind of prelonged headstart without wipes.

You are "entitled" to that opinion. Wish people with that opinion had an understanding that some people don't like to eat cr*p. You're right, it is in development. And some developments go a lot better than others. And even if ALL developments had their bars set at poor to bad it shouldn't be that everyone should like it because that's the new "standard".

If all roads were littered with potholes and this was "how things just are" would it not be reasonable that people wouldn't like it or would you throw out the "entitlement" comment.

That this is a paid product, and thus far ALSO with a paid subscription, that further adds fuel to people being upset.

If I bought a hammer, and it broke, and sent it back and paid for shipping, and got update 1.1 hammer, and it broke again, sent it back and paid for shipping, on and on, would it not be reasonable to say this is ridiculous or would it be, oh just take it, that's the way things are.

Why are software products so different? Because they are "complicated"?. Jet planes are complicated but they don't "release" them into service without rigorous testing or riddled with bugs... imagine that?

Some people think it's wrong when they get home after going through the drive-thru only to find their order is totally messed up. Some people think it's "normal" and "acceptable" because those poor people were "busy".

The people that think it's normal think that the people that would think it's messed up and complain are too an*l and "entitled" and need to just relax and shut up about it.

The people that think it's messed up think that the people that think it's normal are what's setting low standards in the world that it's ok and with passive attitudes like that nothing will improve.

    Which is worse?

I kind of feel like a fool for supporting ZoS so strongly months ago when I actually thought they'd stick to their word and keep ESO subscription based. All credibility and trust was lost with that announcement.

I think it's pretty evident that the game was released a year too early. More extensive beta testing would have shown that the vet ranks were a bad idea, and maybe given them more time to address the problems in Cyrodiil and also include the full version of the justice system fully tested out. There is still so much content that is not even released yet and I am almost dreading how it's going to effect the game.
