If they made solo content even slightly harder it would chase casual players away, casual players are the majority and ZOS is only interested in pleasing the majority of casual players. Hence the enlightened mechanic.

Yea, the game used to be challenging at the vet levels because it was designed for a group of 2-3 players. No one groups in this game unless their lives depended on it. So it got scaled down so a solo player could do the pve content.
It wasnt even that hard (unless you were a night blade with no heals and *** for aoe) all you had to do was make a cheese build so mobs couldnt hit you. It wasnt a challenge and it made it so only a few builds were viable (namely cheesing).
You also state that you are level 24 and playing a DK. yea sums it up right there DK is easy mode and you're in easy areas.
Don't comment about difficulty til you get to the end game content.
Solo Craglorn.

There is a problem — once a casual player completes leveling (including Caldwell's silver/gold) the game is over, there is literally nothing to do, even a regular dungeons are hard if you're templar DD for example. So once you've finished solo you can only stop playing. There is nothing to do behind final gold zone.
PvP is broken, DSA/Trials are hard, Veteran dungeons are hard, group quests in Craglorn don't reward you neither XP nor valuable loot.
Real challenge and fun pve are vet dungeons, trials , and ds arena. The rest is just a passage leveling to the end game and a good story questline. it's too early too say the game is too easy now when u are still lvl 24. Get endgame v14 and than give your opinion.
I don't know if you're new or not.
When I was new, 2 weeks ago, and started playing an NB, I had a lot of difficulty, still struggling to grasp the game, how it works, the quests, etc
Just because you think so, it doesn;t have to be. Some classes excel more than others.

It would be nice if they had zones within zones that were really hard to complete but had a decent reward at the end (say a daily quest or something similar) so that there is more of a challenge for people of the correct level in the area, but it wouldn't crucify those who had difficulties (or were simply happy) with the current challenge across the rest of the zone.
To maximize its appeal game has to be balanced with the "average" player in mind, which means there are always going to be minorities for whom it is either too easy or too hard.
My current leveling build in light armor at lvl 33 is killing/tanking quickly groups of lvl 45+ mobs in cold harbour without even using a 2nd skillbar or my ultimate.
If you are able to kill groups of mobs 12 levels above you then yes the game is far too easy.
When I first started I skipped the first zones and had a helluva time trying not to die. I have found it fun to make my way to the zones ahead of my level. That can be challenging. It is true that once you get up some skill points, things do get easier. I wonder if it would be possible to have difficulty settings for PVE? Maybe have tougher enemies for those who don't feel challenged? But I guess if it were that easy, that would've been set up by now...
