Immortal Guards

I want to kill guards. Anyone else?

ZOS could make the cost of killing guards so high that it is unattractive to do so. I'm tired of all of these immortals guarding safe boxes, why aren't they in Cyrodiil or fighting Molag Bal?

Why aren't they fighting Molag Bal? For the same reason that, every time a vampire or Dragon attacked Whiterun, I had to drag by butt out of bed and fight it. Maybe the guards would help, maybe they wouldn't.

And don't forget Movathar. Who had to kill him? By herself?

If people can kill the guards, they will kill the guards. They'll bring friends and kill the guards 5 times faster. Making them unkillable is the only way to ensure that crime is a dangerous activity.

Guards are fine the way they are. Otherwise people would be encouraged to de-populate towns as there would be no consequences to their actions.

Immortal guards are the only real sense of threat, if you're stealing and murdering. Mercenary soldiers, and other non-guards, can be killed already. Living like Bonnie and Clyde should be dangerous.

Frankly, I quite like watching people try and kill guards, a lot of times on purpose

It kinda has to be this way otherwise places like Rawl Kha would become a slaughter house. I just don't like how they can one shot you no matter how much health you have.

With 6,000,000 health a guard could easily solo Molag Bal

I think this could be handled a bit more... eloquently.

Guards should NOT be immortal but by killing a guard, the following happens:
    • Each guard you kill will cause 2 to spawn and track you down
    • Each guard you kill increases the attack damage of the next guard
    • Each guard you kill increases the defense of the next guard
    • Each guard you kill exponentially increases your bounty
    • Each guard you kill increases how long the next guard will pursue you

Eventually, you'll be overwhelmed and you WILL die... but it's not impossible to kill guards all the time.

Kill 1 guard... you have 2 looking for you. Kill them? 4 come at you. Kill those 4? You now have 8. Kill them? 16... etc. etc. etc.

Oh and with this idea, there WOULD be groups of people that would try to take down as many guards as they can but they'll bankrupt themselves with the bounty they'll incur.

I think people would do it a couple times, sure... but how many characters are players going to be willing to render useless until they get tired of doing this for absolutely no gain.

As others have written, if players could kill guards, there would be dead guards all over the place, as they'd find a way to gang up on them, basically generating Cyrodiil-style zergs in PVE towns.

Imortal guards is stupid. I mean EVERYONE dies (ok maybe not everyone but you get it right?). Why the hell are the guards the only ones that don't? Make them stronger then the normal NPC, like a mini boss. And they lvl with you, so if your lvl 35 and you run to Stros m'kai to wack some guards...they'll all be lvl 35 too!

I also agree with that if you kill a guard, some guards spawn nearby and try to kill you.

I have to admit though, I haven't been killed by a guard yet. Running away is trivially easy. It might be different with a low level character, I'll have to see tomorrow.

^ This is how it should be, immortal guards is so *** annoying, especially considering there seems to be a bug where if you're in combat then some doors won't open for you, meaning you get caught stealing something indoors and you might as well just sit down and accept the cold embrace of death cos you ain't gonna get away and can't fight back...

These guards just annoy the hell out of me. The guards should not be solo-able. They should be like 3 star bosses instead of immortal gods running the city. If you kill a guard you should have like 20k added onto your bounty, and they should send more guards after you if you manage to kill one. ZOS copied R*, but they didn't copy the fun part of being in San Andres.. Killing cops in GTA is one of the fun things that you can do.. See how many cops you can kill before they take you out, or escaping your wanted level.

If a band of V14s came to town and started murdering guards, it should be chaos and fun.

Something like this would be alot better. That would also give people a small chance to get away when they kill the first guard.

They're supposed to be the way they were. If someone could 1v1 a guard with no issue, there would never be a single kills me npc alive. There would be no motivation to be stealthy. And I for one love seeing all the noobs in rawl'kha being destroyed because they felt the need to kill an npc in the middle of the town square

In LotRO, there were training dummies in every town. They had around 5000k morale (hitpoints). If you attacked them, you were in combat for around 20 seconds. Then, you left combat and the dummy regenerated fully. So, obviously, they were not meant to be killed. One day, four raids of 24 chars each gathered in Galtrev. And that poor dummy was the first of his kind to die.

If you make guards mortal, people will kill them no matter how hard it's going to be. And they would depopulate cities all over Tamriel. With immortal guards, you must not get caught commiting a crime. End of the discussion. With mortal guards, it might not be too bad to kill some NPC right in front of the guard.
